Pavillian Dv7-3085dx: memory upgrade

I have Dv7-3085dx with intel 1.6 Ghz processor. The manual indicates memory max is 8 GB, but I noticed in several of the questions forum upgrades memory 16 GB is possible. Which also apply to my model?

Thank you

Of your maintenance manual:

Supports the 1066 MHz DDR3, up to 8 GB of RAM in the following configurations: ■ total system memory of 8192 MB (4096 MB x 2, dual-channel)

16 gigs is compatible only with the dv7 models later. 8 gigs is still plenty of RAM, and very few users really need more than 8 GB.

  • DV7 (4073nr) memory upgrade problems...

I've tried so my RAM from 4 GB to 8 GB.  I have a DV7 4073nr, and I just downloaded the latest update of the BIOS (F.29).  My system starts but I get intermittent BSOD.  Not funny.  I ran the system diagnostics and I get failures of memory in the memory Test option and the system developed, but it passes the test of the BIOS (F10) and all of the submissions are recognized by the BIOS and Windows.

For all this, I don't think it's the memory...  I have two sets of sticks of 8 GB (2x4gb) where I worked with, Crucial and Kingston.  Two are speed 1333 (10600), and identical to the specifications proposed by the Crucial.com site.

    Any thoughts?

    Thanks in advance

    Well...

I don't think I'm quite out of the woods yet.  Last night, I booted up and got a BSOD on trying to open Internet Explorer (v.9).  Rebooted my system and it worked without incident through the rest of the evening.

Until I stop, I put Norton 360 to run its set of scans and tasks, a weekly process and let it run.  This morning, there is no other incident, but I can't help thinking that the system seems slow.

I'll call this request closed for the moment.  I was thinking about an SSD as the next update, but now I'm reconsidering.

Oh well, thanks for your help,.

  • Upgraded my HP Pavilion dv7-6c23cl memory

First of all, I want to upgrade my memory from HP laptop Pavilion dv7-6c23cl (currently with 6 GB memory) he came). She has Windows Pro 8.1 installed.

Some users, retailers of memory, including some experts not HP, say:

    1. Maximum supported memory for HP Pavilion dv7-6c23cl Notebook is 16 GB... is it really 8 GB or 16 GB?
    2. Do not install memory in pairs, manufacturer/size... is that correct?
    3. If the 8 GB or 16 GB max taken in charge, is there any other requirements?

    Hello:

Here is the link to the service manual for your laptop.

Memory upgrade information and configuration options are in Chapter 1, page 5.

Since your model has a processor AMD, the maximum memory that can be installed is 2 x 4 GB = 8 GB total.

Only models with Intel processors can have 16 GB of installed memory.

I was unable to find guaranteed compatible expansion modules appear to be available to Kingston or Corsair.

Guaranteed compatible using modules in a major memory manufacturer upgrade is the way to go if you want no surprises when you plug new modules. Do not add the new memory module that is already there. Remove the original memory unless you can locate a module that is identical in every respect to be placed in the empty soDIMM slot. You don't have to try to match the specifications of the module of the computer laptop memory published unless you like surprises.

  • DV7-3085dx material

I have a dv7-3085dx. The only problem I have with it is that the graphics are too slow for me Nvidia GeForce 230 M. I read that it is possible on some models and higher levels of laptops that you are able to improve these. When I bought this laptop, it was a high end at the time and I was wondering if it was possible to upgrade and what, where my upgrades options?

    Hello

Basically, you can, with a cost, and I think that this cost can be more expensive than buying a new computer because you have to take into account:

    • New price of the card, and WHERE you can buy it because the laptop cards are not the same office maps. You can't buy any normal store,
    • Need new card system (can be),
    • Need new system of cooling because in general more powerful card pumps out more heat (you want more powerful card don't you?).
    • May need new power supply because your current diet is not suitbale for the card. (I ordered a machine with the Nvidia card and I need to order a 90W charger at the same time, not the normal charger 65W. They rejected just my order.)
    • Cost of the work.
    • Packages a lot, a lot of aspirin.

    I hope this helps.

Recently saved this PC of my friend tries to throw it. Everything is fine with the PC. It works perfectly and there is no material visible failure wihtin the PC either. He just bought a new and had no need for this one.

Before turn me this into a House mutli-purpose server, I decided to upgrade the RAM.

So I did some research and found this page: http://h10032.www1.hp.com/ctg/Manual/c01883661

DDR3 240-pin DIMM 1333 MHz non - ECC, Max 4 GB per DIMM slot, Total Max 16 GB module.

I went and bought RAM Corsair. Link to the product: http://www.corsair.com/en-us/cmv4gx3m1a1333c9

I decided to get 2x4gb and upgrade later if I felt the need.

I was happy to install in the PC. one in DIMM 1 slot and the other in the DIMM 2 slot.

    BEEP BEEP BEEP BEEP BEEP!

I thought that maybe the slots are wrong, maybe they have to odd numbers then numbers.

So I changed the RAM of DIMM 2 DIMM 3.

    Once again, the annoying ringtone.

I even tried leaving just the 4 GB DIMM 1 and tried to start the PC, but nothing helped.

I tried a lot of different combinations with the end result is 5 annoying beeps.

After that I thought that maybe, just maybe, an update of the BIOS can change things.

So I installed Windows 7 (I can't stand Windows. Arch Linux FTW) and performing a BIOS update.

I then installed the new RAM again. Yes... frickin 5 beeps AGAIN.

I am extremely disappointed at this point. I spent already $ 70 on a computer with free access.

I read the forums here, but I couldn't find a thread with a solution for me.

Is there anyone on this forum who could lend me a helping hand?

Any information would be gladly appreciated.

  • Max Memory Upgrade for Pavilion a810y

How can I find the AMT of max memory I can put in my Pavilion a810y?  It of sites that say 4 GB and other telling that to 2 GB.  Is the real answer please stand up.

    Hello:

Your PC would have the Intel 915 chipset.

If the motherboard has no memory, each with 1 GB of memory, 2 slots then you're at the max.

Locations of Intel 915 chipset memory cannot manage more than 1 GB of memory.

The crucial memory upgrade link I posted said your PC had 4 locations of memory, so that the info is wrong.

If you upgrade to W7, I recommend you only go with the 32-bit version on your PC.

A 64-bit system requires more disk space and memory to run as a 32-bit system doesn't work - not double, but, with only 2 GB of memory, a 32 bit OS will perform a little better that will be a 64 bit OS, but who is to you.

  • HP CQ61-313US posible memory upgrade configurations?

I have this laptop: HP CQ61-313US (with Windows7 64 bit) (card mother AMD = SKU: 577064-001)

    Origin this model laptop has 3 GB (1 GB x 1 + 2 x 1 GB) memory DDR2 800 MHz PC2 6400 S.

Now, I would like to upgrade memory a little bit, and according to the specifications (manual booklet to print and pdf) it is (recommended?, recommended?, applicable only?)  configurations of memory upgrade - here's the Manual:

    2 SODIMM slots

    Customer-accessible/extendable

    PC2-6400, 800 MHz, DDR2

    Supports dual-channel memory

Supports up to 8 GB of RAM, in the following configurations:

    8192 MB (4096 × 2)

    4096 MB (2048 × 2)

    3072 MB (2 048 × 1 + 1024 × 1)

    2048 MB (2 048 × 1).

    2048 MB (1024 × 2)

    1024 MB (1024 × 1).

As you can see only 6 GB isn't on the list, which is incomprehensible to me, particularly because you can combine 1 GB x 1 + 2 GB x 1 to get 3 GB, but not 2 x 1 + 4 x 1 for 6 GB GB GB as I would like.

So basically my question should be: is it possible to install 6 GB memory 2 GB x 1 + 4 GB x 1 on this motherboard despite the fact that it is not mentioned in the manual configuration?

    If YES, then what configuration would be better: 6 GB (2 GB x 1 + 4 x 1 GB) or 4 GB (2 GB x 2)?

    You are the very welcome.

I agree entirely with you suggestion.
