  • EliteBook 8440p: windows 8 and 8.1 drivers

Hi, I have a problem with the hp Web site. When I choose my Elitebook 8440p product and search for drivers, I can't find the windows operating system 8 or 8.1 if 32 or 64 bits. I only find xp, 7 and vista. And one more thing, I can't change my laptop screen brightness as the brughtness icon is not available and the keyboard keys that have adjust the BRIGHTNESS do nothing no more. I searched a lot for a solution to this problem on Youtube and did all the steps but him has failed. So, go download the graphics card driver a solution or what I need to do. I can't take it anymore, the brightness is very high when plugged in and very low when you use the battary. And finally in my adapters to display my graphics card appears in the form (Microsoft Basic adpter display) then what kind of dirver should I download for it and not the window 7 work home based or professional if I couldn't find 8.1? Sorry for this long post, but I wanted to find out all my problems all together. Please someone answer quickly.

Use the W7 32-bit more professional, and you would use the Intel HD graphics driver or Nvidia HD graphic driver according to which graphics adapter to your PC.

  • Maximum supported size of HARD drive for HP Elitebook 8440p Windows 7 Pro 64 bit runing

Hello, I just bought a HP Elitebook 8440p "off lease" of Tigerdirect and seeks to upgrade the two memory (from 4 GB to 8 GB) and put in the eligible of the biggest HARD drive I can. Either a 512 GB SSD or a 1 TB WD hybrid WD BLACK2 (1 TB HDD / 120 GB SSD Combo drive in a single package!). I would like to see more large disk addressable by using Windows 7 Pro 64 Bit OS since I don't seem able to find this info on the web. HP offers only only a 256 GB SSD in its specifications. but I didn't know if it was do limitations of BIOS or availability at the time of production, even for the HARD drive to 512 GB.

Also, I would like to know if 9.5 mm compliant Bay that it needs to be for the WD drive. Can't find that either, and while the new laptop has not yet happen, all measure exactly the same way regarding what works and what simply cannot be "cheated".

Thank you for taking the time to read this and NO information to that effect would be Greatl appreciated!

Essentially the reason why you do not have a maximum size of hard drive is because there is not everything. Between SATA and 64-bit OS', worrying about maximum size of hard drive is a thing of the past. Are the biggest readers found in the manual, as you suspected him, just a function of the market at the time of manufacture. It was a few years ago now, it is so understandable that the offerings were "at the time" more thin than now.

    Here is the Service Manual:

    Manual

Page 4-9 shows the procedure of the Bay and the replacement of the hard disk. The Bay is made for a 9.5 mm thickness 2.5-inch wide SATA hard but the new 7 mm readers also works. The black hybrid drive requires some software (included in the package) to treat the two drives in Windows and I read a modest amount of disappointment in the documentation about them. If you can afford the 512 GB SSD go in this direction and you will not be sorry. I use a Samsung 840 Evo and it has worked perfectly for me for almost 2 years and the most recent 850 I hear is even better.

  • HP EliteBook 8440p: Windows 7 Pro

I have the HP laptop mentioned above which was given to our non profit by a company.  They have wiped the hard drive.  A label on the bottom shows that it is allowed for Windows 7 Pro.  Someone else has started to establish this laptop and installed a copy of browser Windows 10 eval and 11 of Internet Explorer.

I need to get rid of what is on the laptop and reinstall the licensed copy of Windows 7 Pro and Internet Explorer so that I can install THEN QuickBooks via download.  I don't want to do anything other than Windows 7 Pro, which is supported by Intuit QuickBooks.

Because HP doesn't seem to answer the phone to let me know how to get a downloadable version of Windows 7 Pro, I'm looking for help on how to do it.

There is nothing that I need to keep on this laptop.  It has an Ethernet jack/cable connection.  I was not able to activate the Wifi in Windows 10 but I will deal with it once I get the Windows 7 installed.

I don't know how I will get the laptop on the Internet if I download Windows 7, which I suppose will scan the Internet Explorer 11.  Advice?  Thank you very much!

    You are the very welcome.

No PC manufacturer not providing operating system downloads.

It's because Microsoft does not allow for downloads of their systems to use OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturer), only retail ones.

The only way for the OEM (in this case, HP) can provide operating system OEM media recovery is to offer support physical for sale (or if the PC is under warranty, sometimes free of charge).

This is why when you have entered the product key in this Microsoft Web site, it would not allow to download the ISO retail operating system file and reported the message you got.

When you call HP and order the disks, you will get a simple OS from W7 Professional with a HP label on it.

I have such a set for the 6930p/8440p, and I know exactly what to expect.

You will have the possibility to order W7 Pro 32 or 64-bit.  I guess you can ask for both.  I have never. I wanted to just the recovery of 64-bit set.

There is absolutely no other software on the drive of W7 Pro recovery.

The other disc you will receive contains software and applicable drivers for the 8440p.

You don't have to even not to enter the product key, because the copy of Windows 7 OEM, you receive "know" that it is installed on a qualifying device.

You will lose any use of the current operating system W10 there after the installation of W7.

After installing W7 and upgrade to SP1, you can then download and install IE11 for Windows 7.

Here is the direct download link to IE11.  You will only be able to see the download if you do not currently have installed IE11.

HP is not keeping a record of the license keys assigned to each computer. It should be on a label on the bottom of the laptop. If it is not attached to the bottom open the cover of the hard drive and see if it's there,

I read a lot of forums where users when it is unable to turn on their wireless option (via the button on the keyboard) However, I turn it works freely. I have full access to the internet with an ethernet cable, but am unable to connect to wireless networks. I'm a student and my University offers wifi to all buildings of the University, but even though I can access this wifi on my laptop, I can't on my laptop.

I know almost nothing about network connections and Internet / network adapters so I'm sorry if this is a silly question. Please let me know if there is anything I can do to connect to wireless networks.

  • EliteBook 8440p: 8.1 pro not Windows activation

    Hello!

New Member to HP. A joined to get my problem sloved. I bought a second hand HP EliteBook 8440p laptop that has windows pro 8.1. The problem I face is that windows will not activate. The product key gives this error "error code: 0x8007232B.

    Hello @JK6 ,

To get your question more exposure I suggest you post in the trade forums since it is a commercial product. You can do to commercial Forums.

Even if it is a Commercial product, here is a link to product activation. Your Windows 8 has been the already active and you do not need to activate again. Make sure that your edits were complete which could cause this problem. Anti-virus protection stops sometimes activation. I would temporarily disable it. Then try again.

    Thank you.

  • EliteBook 8440p: elitebook 8440p upgrade of windows 10 mess with boot

    Hello!

I bought a refurbished elitebook 8440p with pre-installed windows 7, 8 GB of RAM, 2.40 GHz processor.  I continued to refuse the upgrade of windows 10 when he constantly jumped upward and then one day I turned on the computer and it updated in any cases without permission.

Since the upgrade, if I shut down my computer, or try to put in standby or Hibernate mode, when I go to wake up or put on, I always get a white screen. In general, I have to turn power several times on and off until any startup screen. Then half of the time, when I get a splash screen, my cursor is stuck at the top of the page, moving only left or right whenever I try to move it. So I have to turn and turn until a new screen is displayed.

I studied how to remove 10 windows and reinstall windows 7. I passed the period of 10 days or 30 days. Media creation tool asks for the product key which I type in the sticker on the bottom of the laptop, but do not pass the verification process saying to contact the manufacturer for help.  Apparently there may be specific drivers or something you took when it improved and the media tool does not allow me to create anything for me to do a clean reinstall of windows 7.

I tried to find an option after pressing esc at the f11 reset start screen. There was no option to do so. The best I could do was to 'reset' of the computer, but he took back to the original Windows that it is firstly set at level 10 to. All my files are deleted from the computer. I just want to return to Windows 7, but could not find an effective way to do it.

Thanks for any help you can offer.

  • HP Elitebook 8440p: lack of "Audio device high definition '-win 10 (or 7/8/8.1?)

    Hello

My laptop computer in question is a HP Elitebook 8440p

Just upgraded to Windows Pro 10 x 64, and I managed to find the drivers for all of them, except a device.

    Under >

    > Sound, video and game controllers

    -"High Definition Audio Device".

It has a hardware ID of:

    HDAUDIO\FUNC_01 & VEN_8086 & DEV_2804 & SUBSYS_80860101 & REV_1000

    I already tried to install:

    -IDT Audio Drivers

    -LSI High-Definition Audio (HDA) Modem

    -Intel Chipset Installation utility

None of the foregoing has managed to get rid of the yellow exclamation power off the device under the Device Manager view.

I had a few other devices where win 10 has not installed by default, and for drivers Win 7 seems to work very well, so I guess that the same is true with the one above - I just need to know what to install...

Any help would be appreciated.  Thank you.

    Hello:

You must manually install the audio driver Intel HDMI driver W7 Intel HD graphics support page for your laptop.

Here is how to do this without messing up your graphics driver...

First download and install this free utility for files... 1 file on the list is 64-bit.

    http://www.7-zip.org/

Then, download and save the graphic driver Intel support page for your laptop.  Do not run it.

    http://h20564.www2.HP.com/hpsc/SWD/public/detail?sp4ts.Oid=4095873 & swItemId = ob_127914_1 & swEnvOid = 4059 #tab1

After downloading the above driver file, right-click on it and select 7 - zip from the list.

Have 7-zip extract of: and leave it to decompress the file in the file name (sp64360).

Once this is done, go to the Device Manager and click on the audio device HD requiring the driver.

Click the driver tab.  Click on set to update driver.

Select her browse my computer for driver software option and find the driver 7-zip created folder.

Make sure that the include subfolders is selected and the driver should install.

    Then restart.

  • EliteBook 8440p: problems of Expansion RAM HP 8440p

I recently decided to upgrade the memory on my EliteBook 8440p. After reading the form of RAM required, I bought one of these: http://www.ebuyer.com/737970-kingston-4gb-1333mhz-204-pin-cl9-ddr3-sodimm-non-ecc-unbuffered-1-5v-me...

Once the new RAM is installed in the expansion slot, Windows will not start and crashes just on screen "starting Windows." Then I tried a test of memory using the system BIOS diagnostic tool, but the laptop either hangs around 35% (I left it there for about two hours), restarts, or stops altogether. I thought that I would give to the system try, repair tool but which caused also just the laptop restart. Curiously, when I check the "System information" tab the system diagnostics, the two RAM sticks are detected with current and accurate information.

I contacted eBuyer, they sent a replacement out there, but I'm having the same problem again. So, I thought I would try to install new RAM in the internal slot instead (under the keyboard), but now I have a BSOD during the 'Starting Windows' screen, give me code error, "IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL"

I read on some forums tech upward. One of them suggested runs what is called 'Memtest' at startup via the CD, I tried, but the laptop restarts only during the first passage of the test of memory (and of course some loops over and over again until I remove the CD).

I'm starting to lose hope! Any help/advice/suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

  • memory of HP elitebook 8440p upgrade question

    Hi all

I have a quick question today, in fact I have a Hp Elitebook 8440p with core i5 and 2 GB of ram (samsung 2rx8 pc3-10600).

    and I am running windows 7 x 64 bit.

so I decided to upgrade memory up to 8 GB and I install 2 x 4 GB (matched pair) (hynix 1rx8 pc3-10600). but it does not work. won't start and loop. and if I put original samsung 2GB new then its job well...

I tried several times with all possible combinations, but it does not work. and if I go to the bios Setup, it shows 8 GB memory installed in it but can't get thorugh inside.

I wonder what the problem of 2rx8 and 1rx8? because my old 2rx8 obtained original and new obtained 1rx8 on that...

I'm really worried about it... Please help me soon... Thanks in advance

I can't say 100% for sure, but yes, I think that the number of chips of memory to the Board of Directors may indicate density.

The symptoms you describe indicate a problem of density to a "t".

Memory shows in the BIOS, but the PC refuses to work with her.

I suggested this to several others and cause when they bought the memory of lower density with 16 chips to the Board of Directors, their problem has been resolved.
