  I bought a laptop Aspire e14 and a headphone (GE Voip stereo headset 98974), but the headset microphone is not detected by my laptop.  I tried other headphones, but the microphone still does not work. I updated the driver but it still does not work.

  EUREKA!

  I managed to solve the problem!

  In case you are experiencing the same, this could work:

  1. pull upward the TASK MANAGER. Under the "Startup" tab, check if the Realtek HD Audio Manager is disabled. If so, right-click on it and then click on 'enable '.

  

  2. search for "Realtek HD Audio Manager" and click on it.

  

  3. on the Microphone tab, check that the microphone is not on mute and click the icon of the folder on the right side

  

  4. Once you click on the folder on the right side, a pop up as will appear and you will need to make sure that the box is checked as the image below:

  

  5. now, plug your headset device and you should see a pop-up message like so... and check on the option button "HEADPHONES".

  

  Now you can test the microphone using sound recorder or Skype.

  It worked for me and I felt so helpless.

  I even tried Acer support cat and the person has not yet asked troubleshooting and just told me to bring the product to a service centre

  Hello! I got a Dell Inspiron MXC061 Windows Vista Home Premium laptop and recently, I figured out that the micro does not work... If I plug headphones the headphone is ok, but the MIC does not work... I already tried to use the headset in the other pc and it works well, so is not the break-in cover that has a problem... and I tried to check and adjust the microphone on the check of its menu - recording - microphone/line (Sigmatel High Definition Audio CODEC)--> is the only player that is on the menu for registration and it says work... I have already also check the properties - levels are already up... but when I try to set up and go to the speech recognition he can't hear me when I try to talk... I don't see the moving bar or the micro displacement level while I am speaking... If the microphone does not work Green right move?... I don't know if it is vista, taken mic or perhaps incompatible things... or do I need to install another driver?... is it possible?... I really can't understand... someone can help me on this!... • On board Toshiba microphone does not work do not under Windows.

  Contacted Toshiba and reset back to manufacturers settings (windows 8)

  After resetting and windows set up Skype app will not force me to reinstall it from store, once done the microphone does not work.

  Impossible to identify all the audio options in windows 8, which could cut the microphone.

  Also my DVD stopped working, after you insert a disc, I get the message "Insert disc" and when you press on enter the disc ejects.

  1. If you're still in Windows 8.1?
  2. Is that what happens with individual DVD?

  Hey, I don't know exactly know what happened with my phone. Suddenly, my microphone work on LINE, Whatsapp and almost all other applications that use mic. Except, camera and when someone call me on my number.

  But it does not work on whatsapp and LINE calls. And it also does not work when I snapchat. Only works on the default camera Apps and call through my number.

  I tried:

  -restart my phone

  -hard reset and blink? Reset with the power and the "home" button.

  -read the micro support page. Still no solution.

  TL; Dr:

  my microphone does not work on every apps on my phone except calls through number and approx. of default camera it gives you just that silence when I play it on voice notes. But it works when I record yourself using videos on the default camera app.

  I see from your post, some applications have a problem to access your Microphone. I know how it is important to ensure that your applications have access to the Microphone and can use this feature. I have a few things I want to try.

  First, tap Settings on your iPhone and then scroll to the last section that lists your apps. Select the applications that use the microphone and make sure that the Microphone is activated (green).

  Then, follow the steps in the article below to close these applications:

  Force a nearby application on your iPhone, iPad or iPod touch

  Then, test the microphone in these applications again and see if it works.

  Try resetting your device. This will not erase your data stored on that device.

  • Press and hold the sleep/wake button
  • Press and hold the Home button
  • Press and hold both buttons until the display turns off and on again with the Apple logo on the subject.

  Alternatively, you can go to settings - general - reset - Reset all settings

  If that doesn't work, restore your device to factory settings. Please note that this will delete the data on your device.

  As a final step, try recovery mode. Turn off your unit, then plug it to your computer with the hold home button. Hold down Home button until you see the logo of iTunes on the screen of your device.   How did you test the mic feature? With the help of tool tape recorder?

  The internal MIC is part of the webcam.
  Next to the sound driver, you will need to install the Chicony webcam software.

  You could test the microphone using the webcam software there is an option that allows you to record the audio stream

  It's very strange. I installed Windows XP Home SP2 on Satellite U300 edition. It's the same laptop fine but a bit smaller and in my case works cam and microphone. I tested it with Skype. The sound quality is not very good, but it works.

  Are you trying to test also with Skype? Did you check the sound options?

  The internal MIC is part of the webcam module.
  What happens if you start the webcam, try saving and small clip? The sound recording is this too?

  Usually, you can change the recording devices in Control Panel-> sound-> recording tab
  Here, you can check what devices are available. Right click and check if hidden and disabled devices can be demonstrated.

  By the way: I had some problems with the playback of the sound after installing the Realtek audio driver. I uninstalled the Realtek audio driver and Device Manager remove the audio display Intel (in games, field audio video controller). In the peripheral zone system you could remove the controller high definition audio.
  Again, restart the laptop.

  Usually, removing devices should be recognized automatically. Then go again to the dashboard-> sound-> recording tab and check if other devices outside external microphone are available.

  I can't say with certainty what may be wrong here, but two things confuse me:
  -somehow your external MIC is obviously not detected because in the case when the external microphone is connected laptop switches automatically to it
  -I don't understand why there are two identical entries under recording devices.

  When I connect my headphone it is always a single entry (Conexant SmartAudio HD default unit), but my machine automatically goes to the external microphone only.

  Have you tested the feature with some applications like Skype?
