HP envy 17-J006ED: failed to UPDATE the BIOS

Hello

I have a laptop of 17-J006ED DESIRE; Bought in December 2014. On the HP site, he had advice for the update of the BIOS. I downloaded the SP76843.exe file. I run the application directly from Windows; so I did not create a USB drive. I had the idea that the update went well.

The computer restarted, but I got a black screen. Sometimes the Caps Lock key light flashes twice.

In this forum, I found the following solution:

So what I did I a Flash DRIVE to fat32 formatted and named HP_TOOLS and downloaded the latest bios installation exe file. Drag the .fd file you want the downloaded exe file. Then click and there will be 3 options. With the installation of device (removable media) select continue it with her. It will create subfolders and insert the bios file in the right place. It will be converted to a different format (bios file will be decrypted). The above steps have been completed by another computer. Take the corrupt laptop battery and hold the power button / stop for 10 seconds or more. This will reset all active tension. Do not replace the battery but plugging the USB and plug it into the power. Now hold Windows key and the 'B' set key and the power button. Hold the three buttons until the CAPS lock led flashes once. Release the power button and hold Windows + B keys together until CAPS lock led flashes constantly. Wait a few seconds and it will automatically boot via USB on the screen of the bios recovery.

I followed these instructions. It is not worked.

Please, help me

"Old way" is the quote that comes to mind, and there is a link to a post on the Z620 mirroring of your question:

    here

With very old BIOS versions like what you have, you will need to step up the BIOS versions in order.  You don't need to intensify in each version, just a couple of big no.

Keep us updated... I think you will like the new BIOS versions, and I post it is better to update the BIOS to go into BIOS, rather than inside Windows.

  • HP ENVY m6-n113dx Notebook PC: update the BIOS F.22A and keyboard

    Hello

I was hoping that over time someone would have posted something with a similar problem, I have, but its been a while so I guess I would ask and I hope an answer and I hope I'm not the only one experiencing this problem.

Awhile back, I upgraded my laptop BIOS (HP ENVY Notebook PC m6-n113dx) from F.21A to F.22A, who apperently offers improved performance of the internal keyboard. After the update, nothing seemed very different. However when I play a game and press a key on the keyboard, the charater would sometimes get stuck on this action of the key as if she was held down. Usually, I just press the button again to stop this action, although this has become an embarrassment.

I've been reading the forums and found a lot of options for apperently decommissioning of your BIOS to earlier versions, but I would like to know where I can find a how to or may downgrade my BIOS of F.22A to F.21A, especially for my laptop.

    Thanks in advance

I was so stupid and according to Toshiba Tempro advice that I downloaded the latest BIOS update 1.50 - WIN.
Update stucked at 56%. After hours of no response I've stopped manually.

Now the nb is dead... only for the power supply and fan works... Is there something that needs to be done?

I'm afraid you should contact nearest Toshiba authorized maintainer.
In the future to pay attention to all this and do not touch the well-executed system.

I have 3 years old Satellite P200 and it still works with the original version of BIOS.

  • Dv7 HP Envy notebook: update the BIOS

I have a laptop HP Envy dv7. When I turned it on this morning, I got a message that he was updating the BIOS.

Then I got a blue screen that says:

    Recovery

Your PC needs to be repaired,

The digital signature for this file could not be verified

    0xc0000428 error code

You will need to use the tools of recovery on your installation media. If you don't have any facility (such as a disc or USB device) support, contact your system administrator or the computer manufacturer.

I tried a system restore, which did not work. I ran diagnostics and everything seemed OK.

I can't find my recovery disk. Anyone know what I can do?

I hit escape to enter diagnosis, and if this can help, information on the system gave me-

    F.22 said BIOS version

    The said Insyde BIOS Editor

Fixed. I was able to restore the BIOS of the F22 F13. I also used a restore point from a week ago.  One of those who seems to work.  For some strange reason, the changes don't take effect until I hit escape to reach diagnoses once again, how my computer restarted.

  • x 61 was updated the BIOS with 7nuj21us.exe Failed BIOS update utility

Only, I have restored my x 61 to the original settings due to a problem with the blue screens and decided to update the BIOS right afterwards.  I followed the directions precisely and installed all 21 of each component for this model.

I then turn off the computer and turned it back this morning to continue to load the software.  The system started with the fan running at high speed and stopped at the ThinkPad screen.  However, nothing happened after pressing the ThinkVantage button and F1 or another touches besides.  I left for a few hours, but finally determined that I could not turn off or do anything with the machine.  He just hung there.  I did finally remove the battery and replace it and now there is not able to record when the machine is connected and it does not start.

Is there something I can do to recover the system?  I suspect that the answer is a replacement of the Commission.  The update of the BIOS was not at the same time with something on my computer.  I have just 2 years in the warranty period at the United States, so if I need to replace the card, what are the best options?

Thanks for your help and comments... it is a very frustrating twist, because this is my work machine.

    Dmtrich,

Certainly, we can download and system flash here, just to be safe.

I'm sorry that you have had this problem, I sent you a PM and email and we can follow up there to work through your specific.  Please let us know your concerns!

    Best regards

  • Satellite A210 - update the BIOS didn't

    Hello

Just tried to update the BIOS on my Equium A210, everything went well until the closing and restarting (which failed).
He left me with a black screen and an orange to power lights, no back to zero and I only can we get rid of the orange light if I remove the battery.
OK, what I'm doing now?... is this repairable?

    See you soon

    > OK, what do I do now?... is this repairable?
    Yes and no.

You can't fix this, but the ASP technician can do that.
Therefore, you will need to contact the ASP in your country, to solve this
The technician would be able to Flash the ROM module and I think this should help you.

  • STOR. TV2 E 2 TB fails to download the BIOS

The unit (STOR. TV2 E 2 TB) fails to download the BIOS when it is connected to the TV, so it cannot be used as a multimedia and with the multimedia menu option; on the other end when it is connected to a PC via a USB port files can be read and written about it.

    Hello

Format you the HARD drive in the past or have you changed something in the partition table?
This procedure may affect the media functionality.
Unfortunately, it seems that there is no new update of firmware for this device, and therefore, you will not be able to update the firmware.

But try to connect the device to the TV using two different solutions.
Usually, you can connect the device Stor.E TV2 to the TV using the HDMI cable and the composite AV cable. I recommend you to check two workaround solutions

  • Split 13 x 2 can't update the bios

I have a new split of HP 13 X 2 computer laptop / tablet. I have upgraded to Windows 8.1. Tried to update the system BIOS but it fails. I have Kaspersky Anti-virus turn off when you run the update and my account is Administrator status. Evry time I try and update the bios, I get an error "failure" and said copy update has failed. What should I do to fix this?

Just flashed manually with a USB key. Appears the utility tries to copy the update to the bios on hp/efi/bios on partition 2, but I can't find how to go from Windows, even with hidden folders to display. The update tool the wish was easier and you can specify where you put the update from version 'dumbed down too low to be useful.

    Steps to Flash manually:

1 use the bios tool to copy the files to a recovery USB drive. It will create a Hewlett-Packard folder. In BIOS and the BIOS update, but the update f19 falls within the bios/current.

    2. with your PSU AC plugged, reboot the computer. Once the screen goes black, start hitting ESC.

    3. even if it seems you can arrow down and press ENTER to select F2, press the F2 key... without the function key.

    4. Insert the USB key, select the firmware, bios update, select the usb drive and navigate to the folder of the bios/current.

    5. you will be asked if you want to update the current bios of 16 to 19. Click bios update (forget what it actually says) and sit down and let it do its thing.

    6. restart. If you have enabled as I do of bitlocker, now you must pick up the keys. After that is done, then you have a F19 X 2.

Have not used enough to see if 19 solves this problem of the touchpad, but refuse to do workaround above.

Is this a different configuration of the BIOS? I have not tried, but I have little time wil.

Yes, this is my opinon (if it's not broken, don't fix) unless after reading the BIOS release notes there are something you just has to.

If there is a way you can Flash the BIOS in the BACK, then I'd be more liberal in my thoughts, but these basic windows flashes... I've read too many horror stories on this forum about failed BIOS flashes.

Just for fun, do a search on "flash BIOS failure" and see many threads pop up.
