HP Envy 4500 series: printers has been removed

Help, please! I accidentally reset my settings to the printer when you try to restart my printer because it was frozen. I tried to reinstall the printer several times but failed. When I'm in the printers option in my settings, I tried clicking on the button "+" to add my printer, but have been unable to get it to connect. It is completely wireless and I can not get the printer to appear in any screen. When I got to my printer a few months ago, my computer basically put it all for me. No cables needed. I desperately need help my printer because I am a graduate student and need to print almost every day. Any help would be wonderful I've exhausted all possible ideas I have.

Thank you!

Hello @kkall,

Welcome to the Forums of HP Support!

I would like to help you today with the addition of your wireless HP ENVY 4500 e-all-in-one printer on your computer Mac OS X 10.10. I understand that everything has started when you accidentally reset your printer settings. Therefore, I will start by ensuring that your printer is always connected wireless. Once we determine if the printer is on the network and 'talk' wireless with your Mac, you should be able to (+) add your printer back in. Please follow the steps below.

Step 1: Check of connectivity:

  1. On your printer, down arrow until see you Wireless
  2. Select OK in the wireless
  3. Select Wireless details and click OK
  4. Make a note of the IP address that appears
  5. On your Mac, open your internet browser
  6. In the address bar type the IP (omit for www.)
  7. Search this site
  • Opens a Web site for your printer: If means that your printer and your computer "speak" wireless. Please proceed to step 4 below.
  • If a Web site for your printer does not open: This means that your printer and your computer communicate wirelessly. This would result in your Mac not to 'see' the printer (+) Add again. In addition, If none displays IP address on the printer, which means that the printer is is more connected to your wireless network. Please follow the steps below.

Step 2: Run the Setup wireless Assistant:

  1. On the front panel of your printer, down arrow for the Wireless option
  2. Click OK
  3. Select the wireless configuration wizard , and then click OK
  4. When you are prompted to choose your network name SSID
  5. Fill in your password (key) wireless. It is case sensitive.
  6. Once the wireless is connected successfully, check the IP address of the printer
  7. Now, on your Mac take the IP address and enter it in the address bar of your internet browser
  8. Search this site
  • If the Web site for your printer opens: The printer and the computer are now 'talk' wireless. Please proceed to step 4 below.
  • If the Web site for your printer does not open: The printer and the computer are not 'talk' wireless. Please proceed to the next step.

Step 3: Powercycle network:

  1. Start by unplugging the power cable to your router
  2. Once your router is unplugged, turn your printer off
  3. Then, shut down your computer
  4. After 30 seconds to 1 minute, reconnect your router back in
  5. Then, turn on your printer
  6. Turn on the computer

After a few minutes the internet connection will be back. On your computer to access a few sites test Web to verify that the internet is running correctly. Once the internet works again check again the IP address of your printer. Try to open the site on your Mac printers again using the printers IP address.

Once you are able to open to the site of printers successfully, proceed to the next step.

Step 4: Add your printer:

1. click on the menu of Apple , then Preferences System.

2. click on Print & Scan
