THE MODULES CAN BE INSTALLED ONE AT A TIME; However, they must be added in pairs as to take advantage of the dual-channel support.

If 4 GB is installed, recognized memory can be reduced to 3.5 GB or less (depending on configuration and system memory allocation). Maximum configurations require a 64-bit operating system.

By HP documentation, system supports DDR3-1333 PC3-10600 memory that can operate at a slower speed depending on the system configuration. (Says it can run at 1333 or he may return to a lower speed according to a number of factors)

  • HP ENVY PHOENIX 800-060: the gtx 1060 is compatible with phoenix want 800-060?

I want to upgrade my graphics card to my phoenix envy hp 800-060 of the 645 to a 1060 6 GB gtx gtx, but I don't know if it's compatible or fit in my computer...

Hello! @charline1, thank you for visiting the Forums from the HP Support!

I understand that you need to know if you can upgrade the graphics card to gtx1060 on your PC.

Given that the motherboard supports the PCIe x 16 slot gtx1060 graphics card is compatible with your PC, you can upgrade the graphics card.

I hope that answers your query!

  • 750 - 140z envy: envy 750-140z is compatible with AMD RX 480?

Envy - what is compatible with AMD RX 480 750-140z? I guess I should also upgrade the PSU?

    Hi there @NicholasBraden,

Welcome to the Forums of HP Support!  I understand that you are looking for advice with an update of the graphics card. I'm happy to give you a helping hand with this.

    Using the following sources:

HP ENVY 750-140z computer CTO product specifications and configurable options

HP and Compaq Desktop PCs - specifications of the motherboard, Orchid3

    Radeon™ RX 480 graphics card - amd.com

    Your system has a PCI Express x 16 (Gen 3.0) slot and a power of 300 W.

The specifications of the AMD 480 RX do not have some details that I'm normally looking like minimum power supply requirement. On the contrary, it shows typical Board power of 150W, which is not a list of peak power.  It also does not indicate the number and type of additional power connectors are needed, or the generation of slot PCIe required.  However, your motherboard has gen 3.0 I mentioned already so it's not likely to be a problem.

So having a typical power consumption of 150 W for the card and to be sure, assuming that your system uses near the 300 W provided by the existing power, you're looking at least 450w for common use.  I suggest to go much higher than that, probably more to 550-600 W for a replacement hard drive, but you want to know what additional connections are required and ensure that the food get you has those which are available in both the type and the number.

There is no guarantee that any parts added to a system will be compatible, and as it is your system is not compatible if only on the question of food.

Please let me know if this is useful, and if it does not solve your problem, please mark this message as a solution. Bravo would be appreciated as well.

  • HP ENVY i7 Desktop 700-311: is the 23-inch monitor screen IPS LED - lighting compatible with HP ENVY Desktop 700-311 HP Pavilion?

I recently bought the hp with i7 proceessor envy and I want to know if the 23 inch screen IPS LED - lighting HP Pavilion monitor will be compatible with i7 ENVY 700-311 HP Desktop processor?

Until the entry of the screen is the viudeo output which is available on the desktop PC, it will be compatible. The dekstop PC has VGA and DVI outputs. Just use a cable that allows you to connect both devices and you'll get the video.

I see that the screen has both. I highly recommend the digital video input instead of the VGA NICU.

You will need a DVI cable.

  • This second screen HDMI will be compatible with HP Envy 23 now that he upgraded to 8.1

I have a HP Envy 23 and use a second monitor (Asus) that worked with Windows 8.0. Now that he upgraded to 8.1 he does not recognize the device and says that the drivers are up to date. Do I need to get a new screen? If so, what second screen would work?

  • HP Envy: compatible blank DVDs

What high blank DVDs that are re-writeable storage capacity are compatible with the hp DVD A DH16AFSH DVD RW in my PC HP Envy # 700-406 model, product # J4W42AA #ABA? I need to copy / back up between a few hundred to several hundred concerts of files and folders on a secondary backup in addition to my external hard drive.

    Hello

Compatibility with the media is generally a function of optical drive firmware.  If you are going to copy several hundred GB of files, then it will take a looooooooog time and a lot of disks.  If you had to say 800 GB of files to a standard 4.7 GB optical support, then do the math.  You might need close to 160 optical discs.

You can use Imgburn to determine the capabilities of the optical drive for media types.

I have an HP internal optical drive (not the same as yours) and I used the below listed optical media with a high success rate.

    Verbatim 8 x DVD + RW 4.7 GB rewritable

In extenso 2 x rewritable DVD + RW 4.7 GB

In verbatim 2 X BD - RE 25 GB rewritable

If your drive can handle the BD-RE XLthen each disc would hold 100 GB but $ 60 for 5 disks you might want to consider something else for archival purposes.

I suggest to go with another hard drive external to the archive files like optical media and drives also are endangered.

Thanks for posting on the forum.

  • I use Envy 17 with a job posting and I need to be able to turn it on even if the lid is closed? Thnx

Hey! Regarding my HP Envy 17 1085 eo. I use my Envy 17 with an external display, and I have to be able to turn on my pc, while the cover is closed (clamshell). It is possible while the pc is in "standby", while activating the mouse keyboard og - but Windows break mode standby after a certain time, leaving me frustrated as I then need to open the lid of my desire and press the button 'walk', to use the Windows. Is it possible somehow? Thank you very much!

    Hey dhalb_,

Have you ever watched the Power Options window (start > type 'power' > click Power Options) where you can change when the computer sleeps (left)? As long as you stop the computer periodically (2 - 3 times a week, if you use it every day) it would be nice to never go in "standby mode" while it is plugged.

For a while, I used a laptop as a desktop replacement with an external monitor and ran into the same frustration as yourself. I shut down my computer after each use if so I came up with a scheme where I could leave the screen all half open, just enough to be able to press the power button.

If you prefer to go in standby mode, you can go to the advanced power settings (Power Options > change Plan settings next to the selected power management > change advanced power settings), extend your sleep and set "Hibernate after" connected to never by typing 'Never' in the field minutes. Click on apply and OK.

I should mention that it does not extend the life of your computer to run constantly. Hard drive failure and the motherboard issues sees much more often on machines that are constantly running. Computers bogged down and run slowly when the memory is full. Memory erase them and will reset when the computer is turned off. Here's a link explaining more on the accumulation of memory and aging of the material.

I hope these suggestions help. Please let me know if you have any questions.
