  You'll probably have more success if you buy a framework designed for your laptop in terms of compatibility. Here is a link that goes to the HP part Surfer. Look at the bottom of the list of wireless adapters. It has 802.11b/g/n listed which will probably fill your need for a 802.11n internal adapter. They are very easy to install.
