HP ENVY laptop: HP ENVY - function default key help
Model:
HP ENVY m7-k010dx Notebook PC (ENERGY STAR)
Problem:
I just want to know how I can change the operation of the function keys without having to go into the BIOS, because I don't know the administrative BIOS password. Currently, they work as multimedia keys by default, and if I want to use the function keys, I hit 'fn' every time just to use a function key. Is there a way to make the function keys worked mainly as function keys without having to press "fn" all the time?

For example when I press F5 on ay other laptop computer running the program I'm developing; However on my spectrum XT he turns off the lights on the keyboard.
I have to press the fn key first to make the funtion key as it should. Other laptops, you press this button first to get the function of equipment.

I see from my records that a similar case has been solved by uninstalling and reinstalling the update WAT - KB971033
Open the Windows Update - click the link view updates installed on the left of the page
in the list, find the WAT update KB971033, and then uninstall it.
Then restart and reinstall the update from here - http://support.microsoft.com/kb/971033
redemarrer restart again, then try to change your product key to the one on the sticker - what is happening this time?

Re: Satellite P200D - functions FN keys do not work on Windows 7
Recently, I installed Windows7 ultimate 32 bit for my pc, but the function FN key does not work. I installed the VAD latest version 1.4 (for windows 7) as also the utility of the memory flash card (for vista than windows 7 does not have) as suggested in other threads, but the button still refuses to cooperate with me. The flash memory card are current running ok but only with the mouse. to all my startup programs are running ok and I also try Msconfig restart the map flash several times.
What other driver must try?
Once my configuration is complete (hopefully soon) what can I do I have recovery disk, I don't have to spend all those torture?
In my opinion, you've tried everything to make it work. What happens if you try to install Vap for Vista (not for win 7, as you have it installed)?

new laptop has no function of cd, how do I install acrobat 7.0
My new laptop has no function of cd to insert me installation disk, how to install acrobat 7 with just a serial number?
The "activation server" Adobe, which allow you to install and use, was turned off years. You cannot use your CD in all cases. (Although it is external plugin CDs are cheap, easy to use and almost essential).
There is a special Acrobat 7 download for users dismissed (with the new series)... but it won't work on existing systems. Unless you have Windows Vista, 32-bit, and the more you will probably need to purchase Acrobat again. (No upgrade more, sad to say).

Windows XP OEM CD - Key HELP!
I have a Toshiba laptop home from work and it runs like a dog, so I want to do a new installation. I have a fireplace unused keys CD of Windows XP Professional sitting in my office in order to license is not the issue of retail sales. But I have a XP (Professional) drive the retail home so I was wondering if it is possible to use my XP disk and put a different cd key so that I can do a fresh install. I know that with windows vista and 7, you can do it but I don't know with XP. And I also tried to get their hands on an OEM Toshiba drive but I can't:(Merci pour votre aide)
First things first...
(1) if the keys to your Office OEM key, so they cannot be used on anything other than the original PC with which they came (if they are still sealed packages, then you should also have the drive!)
(2) if the keys are retail, then you should have the disc that came with them
(3) if they are Volume license keys, you * may * be able to use them-if the license agreement is still in force.
That said...
(a) you cannot use a retail XP with an OEM - it requires a key disk detail key
(b) If your disk has built-in SP3, you can install by using the default key, and then use the product key update tool to change the key for that on your PC - assuming that the COST for Pro license.
(c) if the licenses in your office are for Retail Pro, simply use your drive and one of the licenses.
(d) if the licenses in your office are valid licenses in Volume, they always require a valid installation of XP Pro upgrade

I understand that the Ctrl key is used, however, you are not key,It seems that the key is stuck or used by pressing the other keys.
If you have verified that the keyboard and keys are physically stuck,
Please try the steps below:(1) go to the control panel.
2) go to "regional and language option.
(3) go to the "language"tab.
4) click details.
(5) select the default input than English (United States) language we
(6) services installed in keyboard select in the United States, click on apply
Restart the computer and which should solve the problem. This could also be a problem with the sticky keys, so please turn it off using the procedure below:
Disable the sticky or filter keys
If you have not clicked on the link "Go to the Ease of Access Center", you can simply navigate in the Panel to the ease of access Center and find the link to "Make the keyboard easier to use".
Once you're there, you want to make sure that the boxes for "Turn on sticky keys" or "Turn on filter keys" are turned off - which simply means that the feature is not active at the moment but does not mean that the annoying popup will disappear.
To do this, you will need to click on "Set up FilterKeys" or "Set up sticky keys" (or both).
If you want to help others looking for the same solution, as you found, mark the message as acceptable Solution.
If you wish to testify of my effort, please click on the thumbs violet icon at the bottom of my comment.

Laptop of HP ENVY TS m7: keys brightness &; Graphics Card does not work
I've refreshed recently my PC in the last month, and after a recent update, my Windows computer has stopped responding to orders of brightness and is stuck at full intensity. In addition, it seems that a common measure of troubleshooting is to install a new chipset and graphics card. However, the card graphic driver States during installation is not compatible with my PC (despite the Intel and HP recommend through various Web sites). In addition, the current I have says it's for Windows 8 only and so crashes quite often. No idea how correct the brightness or graphics card problems?
~ LinghIt seems that some research solved the problem.
I finished updating the remaining graphics drivers using a third party service, and things stopped crashing.
In addition, the question was actually with the driver for the monitor, which was something I did not installed (PnP-monitor). I swapped it to the generic PnP monitor, that solved the problem. I got the idea to do it from here: https://superuser.com/questions/948587/i-cannot-adjust-screen-brightness-in-windows-10/949966#949966?newreg=86568d7fbfcd40efbe368b6097c9f65a
Thanks for the help!

HP ENVY 15 Notebook PC: HP Envy 15 action keys works do not (F9, F10 and F11)
My laptop has been working fine since purchase, but last week, I noticed that action F10 F10 & F9 keys (jump, play/pause, skip) did not work for their function. Before last week I could just press the key to activate, I read other posts of this forum and the answers did not work pressing fn + alt + (key action), either by pressing fn + key action. To make this work I need to access the bios screen and change the default values, but it only works when the laptop is on. If I turn the laptop, turn again he resorts right back to does not. Action all other keys work e.g. keyboard backlight, volume, brightness, etc.
Any solutions would be welcome.
Thank you.

Hello @Spudy96,
Thank you for your quick response!
You can try to perform a System Restore. If this does not work, then you could also try to install the previous version of the BIOS of your Support Site. Let me know how it goes.
Good luck!

Hello
I just bought an Envy 17. I work a lot with MS Excel 2013. Here, I often use the function key F4. It works as usual with my wireless keyboard, but on the keyboard feel like I have to press
+ F4, F4 Live Rush who leads me beside right Win 8.1 menu. Is there a possibility to change how the Fn keys are working on the Envy-keyboard?

HP's envy touchsmart: default speakers continues to change
I'm a 15tQuad TouchSmart laptop hooked up to a Dell monitor. I always keep the laptop closed except when that I start or when the monitor goes to sleep and I need to wake up again. My sound worked very well and knew that the default was the audio device on the laptop until I updated audio driver a few days ago. Now, whenever I start or if I have to raise the lid to wake the computer, it changes the speakers by default my monitor Dell who doesn't even have a speakers on it, so I have no sound until I have change the default value to the speakers of the laptop.
I thought I would return to its old drivers but this option is grayed out.
I did a repair for the sound and had a message saying that a change could not have taken effect if Windows fixed, but the problem continues to be.
I use Windows 10 and have been since its release so I don't know if it is a Windows problem or not, because everything was going fine until I updated the audio drivers.
Hello @sheryltoo,
Thanks for the quick response!
Have you had any luck with the system restore? Your laptop has a touch screen? Or is that your external monitor? Based on the number of your product, what is your laptop: HP ENVY 15 t-j100 Quad Edition CTO Notebook PC (ENERGY STAR)
Is that what you downloaded the Audio driver: sp63555.exe
If the system restore did not work, then try using the Audio driver for Windows 8.1: sp63407.exe
Let me know how it goes.
Kind regards!
