  It seems that the key is stuck or used by pressing the other keys.

  If you have verified that the keyboard and keys are physically stuck,
  Please try the steps below:

  (1) go to the control panel.
  2) go to "regional and language option.
  (3) go to the "language"tab.
  4) click details.
  (5) select the default input than English (United States) language we
  (6) services installed in keyboard select in the United States, click on apply
  
  Restart the computer and which should solve the problem.

  This could also be a problem with the sticky keys, so please turn it off using the procedure below:

  Disable the sticky or filter keys

  If you have not clicked on the link "Go to the Ease of Access Center", you can simply navigate in the Panel to the ease of access Center and find the link to "Make the keyboard easier to use".

  Once you're there, you want to make sure that the boxes for "Turn on sticky keys" or "Turn on filter keys" are turned off - which simply means that the feature is not active at the moment but does not mean that the annoying popup will disappear.

  To do this, you will need to click on "Set up FilterKeys" or "Set up sticky keys" (or both).

  I use macros / building blocks in Word, but can't use F3 to insert text on my new cell phone Envy.  All the function keys just turn the screen more or less clear.  Google and google and I just confused.  Any help would be appreciated, thanks.  (Windows 10)

  You can override the default behavior of these keys as follows.

  Shut down the laptop.  Tap away at the esc you key start Notepad to open the Start Menu.  Select the Bios ( f10 ) option, and then change the figure in the document at the following link.

• HP ENVY 15 Notebook PC: HP Envy 15 action keys works do not (F9, F10 and F11)

  My laptop has been working fine since purchase, but last week, I noticed that action F10 F10 & F9 keys (jump, play/pause, skip) did not work for their function. Before last week I could just press the key to activate, I read other posts of this forum and the answers did not work pressing fn + alt + (key action), either by pressing fn + key action. To make this work I need to access the bios screen and change the default values, but it only works when the laptop is on. If I turn the laptop, turn again he resorts right back to does not. Action all other keys work e.g. keyboard backlight, volume, brightness, etc.

  You can try to perform a System Restore.  If this does not work, then you could also try to install the previous version of the BIOS of your Support Site.  Let me know how it goes.

  I used tax software that uses the F3 function to remove a 'red' field - indicating an error.  In my HP Envy 17, F3 does not have this red.  All other computers I've used in the past, have been able to use the F3.  Help please.

  I have a laptop HP Envy m4 and am unable to get the action backlight (F5) key to work.  Any suggestions?

  I think we both agree at this point that there is problem with the hardware with the notebook. Since you just got from Best Buy by all means, turn it over and you get a machine that works for you.

  I hate we couldn't solve the problem of a hardware problem. But if you don't mind clicking on accept as solution so that people in the community can try steps we tried if they have similar problems.

  I just bought the detachable Envy 2 x 13 a few weeks earlier. I had problems with the keyboard on the first day.

  Keys randomly repeat themselves makes typing anything including passwords, a nightmare. I fixed that last sentence about 6 times for duplicate characters.

  I saw a thread where the BIOS Rev F.08 solved these problems. I have F.06 Rev. I try to install this BIOS, I get a message that there was an error reading BIOS, and it closes.

  I tried all the other suggested fixes: changes/updates to BIOS; keyboard settings, uninstall the drivers, etc. The link above, which will take you through the evolution of the "rate of key Bounce" in the registry was finally the fix.

  I had three computers HP Envy due to this problem - many hours wasted with corrections and feedback. No one at HP could never understand - thanks to 'talkingtoaj2' to understand the problem of HP. He should be compensated.

• HP ENVY 2 X: key Fn editing operation. No BIOS option.

  OK, so I searched the forum and found many people ask how to change the operation of the Fn key while it is not necessary to press Fn to use the Fn keys.

  For example, I use software that I need to use several different of the Fn keys. Instead of simply by pressing SHIFT + F4 as I used to, I must now press SHIFT + Fn + F4. This severely hampers my ability to do my job with speed.

  The problem is that there is no option in BIOS to change this, as others have suggested. Someone please tell me there is a way to disable this incredibly stupid. I would be fine with having to press Fn to use the features of the shortcut key (research, volume, etc.) in order to exchange the functionality will be very well. Botton line, I want that my keyboard to refresh when I press F5 in itself, not cut my volume.

  Still, I can't change it in the BIOS. There must be another way.

  I understand the problem. No doubt it would work even for people who are currently underway in the BIOS to disable the action keys. This is not necessary and fortunately, this solution works for people who are unable to disable the action keys, for some stupid reason.

  The problem is a hardware problem, specifically a problem of keyboard to 100%.

  Many keyboards have two symbols on the Fkeys. You will see the F1 and some symbol is used to represent the action it will do. Most of the keyboards will do one action on the other, with the other action requiring the support of Fn. sometimes the fn key will be colored and the secondary action the ordered is similarly to be colored (the F or the symbol).

  If that's the thing. If you want to use the Fkeys regularly, choose a keyboard that has NO symbols of the action on them OR one that has coloured symbols of the action. If there is no staining, no matter what the symbol is the first is the main function. If the Fkey (F1... F12) is the first, it is the main function. If it is a symbol, first of all, it is the main function.

  So if people need to use the Fkeys, get a keyboard that has the first Fkeys or simply without the symbols of the action.

  I got this laptop - hp envy - 2 weeks ago, but a button broke (f8 - volume up). It still works well and bridge seems well but I think that small studs are broken actual button. I called pc world where I got it as always in insurance and other things and they have said they could consider and fix it in 2 weeks. I said it's just a new button and I is looking for a new laptop or anything just a button. But apparently, it will take 2 weeks to repair. Can I get a button from anywhere to do it myself. Can't really find anywhere looking that a buttons

  I noticed that my laptop had some problems, for example; When I download things, they don't work or connect to the internet; the icons on my screen family has disappeared; so I reset the phone but now it asks for my product key. I don't have and I left the laptop package in another country and my family thoght it wasn't important so they threw. I was wondering if anyone could tell me what to do.

  If it is a laptop Windows 8 license key is built into the BIOS. The fact that it asks for a key indicates something wrong in the BIOS info. The key or other system pertinent information such as a serial is missing/corrupted. Most likely, you will need to contact HP for a service - or at least ask the recovery media. But recovery media may very well also fail if missing BIOS Info as series, etc.

  You will have to contact HP support in the /region country in that the laptop was bought.
