HP Envy tilt 23: replace the disk d

My computer reports a problem hard drive with drive D:

HP has no replacement parts, but I found the right piece in a HP-recommended installation. However, I don't know where this player or how to access it to replace it. Also, I don't know if there are things I need to do other than just hardware replacement.

HP part number is 680966-001. SanDisk part number is SDSA5DK - 016 G-1006.

I would appreciate instructions on how to replace it,

I saw some information on deleting drive d is it possible to remove it via the software and create the necessary recovery files elsewhere?

Thank you for the additional information.

As I suspected, the SSD is used for the disk cache.  It is not used for storage.  Therefore, it is not used for the storage of all.  Strictly, it helps speed up the computer.  Here is what it says in the specifications:

Figure: solid state drive

Disk caching is the pairing of a small solid state with a traditional hard disk drive to accomplish an increased reactivity without sacrificing performance for capacity

  • HP ENVY 17-j101ex - replace the SSD HARD drive

    Hello

I have HP ENVY 17-j101ex, with the standard configuration: 2 x 1 TB drive HARD 5400 RPM SATA. I want to buy 1 SSD drive and replace the first (boot) hard disk drive. I don't know if it works or not.

    I want to buy a SSD Samsung 840 EVO 250 GB SATA III (MZ-7TE250BW), 2.5 ", dimensions: 100 x 69 x 7 mm

I have to: 1 x 1 TB HARD drive (as a secondary drive) + 1 x 250 GB SSD SATA3 (as your startup with system disk)

    Is this ok?

    I found some info, that:

    Supports a 6.35 cm (2.5 in) 300 GB or 160 GB SSD (SSD) drive in 7, 0 - mm (. 28 - in.) thick

    Supports 6.35 cm (2.5 in) hard disks to 12.7 mm (. 50-in) and a height of 9.5 mm (. 37 - in)

Is it not this Samsung SSD too big?

I also found information on envy 17 series, which:

Supports the following single hard drive/solid-state drive combination configurations:
    ● 1-TB, 5400-rpm, 12.7-mm hard drive × 1 + 300-GB solid-state drive

    and also:

NOTE: Supports RAID-0 as default for all dual hard drive/solid-state drive combination configurations.

So, first of all should I disable RAID-0?

Thank you for your help and sorry for my English

In fact, I have the same model laptop PC series. You will have no problem replacing the mechanical main hard drive with an SSD. The Evo to Samsung 250 Gig is a very good choice. I suggest you get cloning software, put the SSD in the second slot, start from cloning software and copy (clone) the startup disk for the SSD. You'll slim down the contenst of the diskette of starting less than 250 concerts to achieve, but you can store files off to the second disk of 1 TB in the process. There are other ways to do this post if you have any questions.

Here is a video showing how to install the hard drive.

    https://www.YouTube.com/watch?v=wx3dMGXrGCc

RAID-0 is supported, but you wouldn't want as a second hard drive with an SSD. If your readers are appearing as volumes of letters separated in 'the PC' or 'Computer' then RAID-0 does not exist and you shouldn't have to do any disorder in the BIOS.

I ran all the standard tests. Black printing will produce only on cartridge color if used singularly. Print heads have been cleaned. Perhaps the BIOS sees the drive automatically and I can simply use the Reccovery DVD?

  • Disk utility can't repair the disk

I wish I had my vintage iMac (2007) repaired if it is worth... I have this message when you try to use: disk utility can't repair the disk. File system check exit code is 8. Problem with the disk partition EFI system partition file system with a mount point is needed Please HELP! Is it useful to have repaired? Thank you!

Is there something on the drive on which you need to recover or save? Otherwise boot from your installation disks and repartition and format the drive. Be aware that this will WIPE the Drive. Make a partition using the schema GUID and put it into Mac OS Extended journaled. You can replace the disk of herd yourself if necessary than to pay someone to do it... for me that's not worth.

    Hello

First of all, regarding the disk error message hard, it sounds like the drive has failed and you need to replace.

About your existing data, there are a few options, I would say.

    1. one possible way to try to recover your files from a disk non-boot is to follow the process described in the link below.  The CD of the Ubuntu operating system you create can launched from the CD alone (IE it doesn't have to be installed on the hard drive) and I've often found to successfully extract data even a hard failure.  When you created the CD, follow the instructions and see if you can save your existing files.

    http://www.howtogeek.com/HOWTO/Windows-Vista/use-Ubuntu-Live-CD-to-backup-files-from-your-dead-Windo...

2 another option would be to remove the drive HARD, place it in an external enclosure - is an example of the link below - connect to another PC and see if you can access your files.

External 2.5 HARD drive caddy ".

  • Replace the HDD with a SSD

Hi, I am a new consumer of HP and I would like to replace the HARD original with an SSD drive. The question is:

If I do that, then I lost the warranty? (In English)

Salvo, sono a nuovo consumatore di prodotti HP e sapere I wanted is sostituendo Hard disk capacity guarantee del PC original, grazie. (Italian)

    Hello:

Unfortunately, there is no redress related to the support page and the driver of your laptop, so I have no idea whether or not you can do the job yoursel without voiding the warranty.

    http://support.HP.com/us-en/product/HP-15-R200-notebook-PC-series/7486447/model/7835232/manuals

I suppose the easy way to say would be that if your laptop is a service door Bay on the bottom of the PC, you should be able to replace the disk hard if you see after removing the cover of the service Bay.

If it's a solid background and without visible access panels, so it would be a model where access the disk cannot be done by an authorized service center.

There is a manual related to the series 15-r000.  It is the series of model closer to you to your model.

According to the manual, it seems you need to take about the portable unit departed and arrived at practice.

  • Need to reinstall the disk - guaranteed missed

    Hello

In 2009, I bought a computer from studio with Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit.  My warranty just expired, not too long ago, now my system is messed up, and I can't get a fix without a guarantee.  I can't figure out how to repair my system, and I can't simply download a 64-bit reinstall, because (long story) my system now has 32-bit windows running. (It was originally 64 bit).  The support line told me to call the hardware Department, but I can't find a number for them anywhere.  They said that they could replace the disk, if I bought another warranty plan, but the $250 was too much money for me.  Another person told me that I could just buy the CD for $15.  Can someone clear this up for me?

    Sincerely,

    Nicholas

Renew your warranty just to get a replacement drive is ridiculous - do not.

You can request one here - it's usually free (although I've heard of a tax for a small $15-20):

    support.Dell.com/.../backupcd_form

There is NO reason you gave that could prevent you from downloading of media, then activate by phone:

  • 27 "tilted envy, not recognized by the computer to factory wireless keyboard

New system, 27 "envy tilted, the keyboard does not work. new replacement shipped by HP keyboard is also non-functional. So I guess the question is with computer, no keyboard. Pls advise on this a driver problem or a hardware problem.

The dongle does not synchronize with the keyboard, only with the mouse, even when the button 'reset' blue on the keyboard has been held down various lengths of seconds. A new keyboard/mouse/dongle synched did the trick. The dongle attaches behind the access panel on the back of the tilt on the internal USB port for this purpose.  Nothing wrong with tilt, down.

  • Can I replace the optical drive of the ENVY 15 t-k000 with a hard drive?

I saw there are several videos helping to remove the top cover and replace the optical drive. But it does not expressly say that the optical drive can be replaced by a hard drive.

    siriusblackp

Yes you can. Here's the part you have to do with. Just remove the optical drive, add a hard disk in one of these adapters and replace it for the optical drive:

    https://www.jacobsparts.com/items/HDDBAY-02/

You may also need to swap the façade of the old optical disc to make the installation of good look.

I wouldn't use this for one SSD. An SSD belonged to the main disk space to enjoy the speed. The drive into the optical drive adapter will not be bootable and it will be not given quite as fast as the main hard drive transfer speeds. So if you have a drive in this card, a big (1 TB) and slow (5400 RPM) drive would be preferable. It will be purely for storage and it is still fast enough to see the video of for example but if you are doing video editing I would try not to edit videos from the optical drive Bay. Move them to the fastest reader first.

  • Envy 15 K2T37AV: Replace digitizer for Envy 15-Instructions and void the warranty?

I dropped my computer a few days ago from cracking of the digitizer, but not the LCD screen. The display still works, and I'm debating whether to pay to fix it or just do it myself or ask at a local store to do. My questions are:

    (1) do I have to dissect your laptop to replace the digitizer, or y at - it a simple way to just pull the digitizer off the LCD display and replace it?

    (2) in doing so void my warranty? Especially if I don't really have to unscrew anything, and given that the display is not covered by the warranty anyway, if it voids the warranty on everything else?

    (3) if I go with it, what is the model number of the digitizer and are there instructions I could follow?

    Thank you in advance!

    Hello:

Chapter 3 of the service manual indicates that you can go to a 500 GB 7 200 RPN SATA II HDD.

    http://h10032.www1.HP.com/CTG/manual/c01963667.PDF

I recommend these to this provider if you live in the United States.
