  Hi there guys! After my drama wireless... I decided to go back to Vista a few months with XP... The thing is, I put my a300 vista recovery CD, and apparently the Toshiba Recovery CD erases all THE DATA on my hard drive...!

  Since I'm on XP, now I can't use the second option IE. system recovery so I have to use recovery "out-of-box", which seems to erase all my data.

  My hard drive has 3 partitions, C being the system partition. I want only to clear C and leave the other two safe for the sake of my data... but I chose the option that goes like "delete only the first partition" and the proceedings ended because of an error.

  Before you reinstall Windows, you should back up your dates on external media, such as a DVD or external HARD disk.

  Creating a new partition map will not physically destroy the data on your HARD drive, but it will make it inaccessible. You need to start some recovery/restore software tools to recover your data. But the 100% success is not guaranteed. You are most probably going to lose some or all of your data in this process.

  Before trying anything, get an another HARD drive of the same size as the original, and create a clone (e.g. using dd in the Terminal). It must be a clone like that would give you an exact copy of the original, including the partition table broke and all the data on all partitions.

  When you have your clone store the original HARD disk in a safe place and carry out all repairs and attempts at recovery on the clone. In this way whatever you do degrades the original HDD already weakened.

  An alternative to the above process would be to find a company that specializes in restoring the data. But who can become very, very, very expensive.

  BTW, if you do not have a backup of your data, it cannot be so important. I suggest that start to implement a backup procedure now.

  OK - I'm a fool.  I have a Treo 650 and have had problems of synchronization - lying there.  Today, I had the brilliant idea to delete all my contacts and calendar on my computer and starting over.  I put the phone hotsync and after a few minutes received an error message saying that the sync-ing process was interrupted.  Then I discovered that all the data of contacts and the calendar on my palm has been eliminated.  I thought that I had made a backup, but, just, did a search on my computer (XP Home) and couldn't find any file with .aba.

  I had hotsynced.  There seems not to be problems with the settings on the computer, but the hard reset was eliminated my cable/dock setting.  I've recreated in this regard, hit hotsync on the 650, and he ran through the whole process.  Data on 650 and PC.  Now, to re - create my calendar

  I do the download via the text file and have a rules file to get the upload done. ABCGroup has several cost centers, several account codes, product codes and amounts. That's what is downloaded.

  Just do the same combination in excel add in or smart view and change the value to #Missing and send it.

  The other way is that you can write a script for the same and use CLEARDATA inside.

  Unfortunately, if you do not have a backup of the data on a CD - r or flash stick your data is gone, unless you can recover it using Recuva - data recovery program or whatever is the equivalent of Linux.

  Sorry, but when you ask that a new password to synchronize the data on the server is deleted. The original password was the basis of the encryption "key" that was used for encrypting your data as it was sent on the server; different password prevents Firefox to be able to decrypt your data when it is returned to the device.

  The thing is that Sync was never intended to be a 'cloud' for the storage of personal data of Firefox for a single device. Its purpose is to synchronize data between multiple devices.   Last night I installed updates KB961371, 973346 KB and KB 890830 for Vista Home Premium and they seemed to have been settled... my computer turns off fine. But when I started today and connected to my usual user, I got a pop-up message from the tool bar by saying "your user profile was not loaded correctly, you have been logged on with a temporary profile, cnanges do you will be lost when you log out." Check the log of the events for more information or contact your administrator." I then found that all my data was away from all my files (music, photos, Documents, analyses)... everything was gone. I then logged out of my user every day and in my admin to have a snoop around and all the data disappeared from there too. While in admin I also looked in the update section to see if the updates have not been installed correctly, but he said that they had been installed successfully.

  I then rebooted, as I thought that it might help, but everything remained the same.

  After the reboot, I clicked through 'my computer' and hard the news here on the disc wrote I have 89 GB of 147 GB free, which I think is consistent with the amount of data I have stored.
