HP g70: Hp g70

Hi, my current hard drive is a failure I supported this drive external hard disk up to. What I was wondering if a San disk ultra 480 GB 2.5 ssd II "would be compatible and if I should place the new ssd in the optical drive? Of course after a move can not find disk backup as would be better to upgrade to windows vista 10

http://www.Maplin.IE/p/SanDisk-480gb-Ultra-II-SSD-a35rr

Yes the sandisk ultra card would work like any other 2.5 inch SATA would type SSD. Without knowing your model G70, it would be difficult to say if he would go to 10 Windows and you need to understand this. The problem is that the upgrade to Vista at 10 is not free, as it is with 7 & 8. I can't invest in an SSD and a new operating system for a portable computer of the time.

Thanks for the suggestion.  I did the hard reset and turned on the laptop but as soon as I had signed up on the rest of the message to appear.  I read far more and saw that some users had uinstalled the Quick Launch Buttons software and the message stopped popping up.  I checked to see if my laptop was even buttons and it does not work.  Then, I checked to see if HP offered the software for download in case I need to reinstall.  When I saw that HP was offering downloading I uninstalled the software of the Quick Launch bar and no more pop up message.  Thanks again.  I guess that the bios upgrade had some effect on this software.

  • Laptop HP G70-120EA

    Hello

Can you tell me if I install a new hard drive on my HP G70 can I switch to 64-bit Windows?

    Concerning

    Fred

    Hi, Fred:

The specifications of product for your model indicates that there is an Intel T5800 processor that is capable of running a 64-bit operating system.

Yes, you can install an operating system 64-bit on your laptop, but I'd stick with Windows 7 x 64, unless you have Vista x 64.

Windows 8 has problems with your model (audio usually does not work).

I also recommend maximum memory removed the 1 GB module and its replacement by a 2 GB module if you have not already done so.

64-bit operating systems require more memory and disk space to run efficiently than does a 32 bit OS.  Not double, but more.

Probably better than a 64-bit operating system will run an OS with the same amount of memory on 32-bit (up to 4 GB).

But try it with 3 GB you have and if you think that the 64 bit OS does not work at height, then increase the memory of 1 GB. This will help a little. The memory will also operate in DDR mode with modules of 2 x 2 GB memory, where it is not now.

    Best regards

  • HP G70-111EA: HP G70-111EA laptop Core2Duo T5800 processor - development options

Hi all, I have an old laptop HP G70-111EA (product/reference: FX432EA #ABU) with a 360 C 09.67 circuit (to be honest, I have not been able to learn what it means in terms of a system or motherboard) and a Core 2 Duo T5800 processor,.

I would like to try to upgrade the processor and or anything else that I can, to try to upgrade to Windows 7, or 8 if possible... or even to try a Linux OS like Ubuntu based (as the limitations of Windows 7 and 8 will follow the 'end of the support for the operating system... as in Vista' and disappointing from my favorite Win XP loss!).  And the problem is, I can't find anywhere that identifies the exact specifications of the motherboard, cpu socket set, FSB material and possible cpu upgrade speed limits options, etc. etc that are possible... or at least reasonable for the existing hardware.

I downloaded the maintenance & Service Guide for the model, which shows a "processor Intel Core 2 Duo (6 MB of cache L2, bus 1066 MHz front)" can support a "T9400 2.53 GHz", but was really hoping to go beyond that, because it is not much better than the current T5800 2.0 GHz (2 MB L2 cache, 800 MHz FSB).

Memory options seem or PC2-5300 667 MHz, DDR2, 667 MHz, PC2-6400 DDR2-would be the limitations of memory modules motherboard, or any other material restrictions also prevent the change of the memory and change from 32-bit to 64-bit in order to increase the current limits of 3 GB to 4 GB of memory... or is it a fixed limitation built into the system.

Basically, I'm looking in any way I can increase the performance spec, any help or advice on this would be appreciated.

    See you soon

The guide shows the T9400 as the top processor of the page. It wouldn't surprise me if a T9600 or a T9800 would work, but I can't guarantee these processors, and there are still enough expensive of course faster than ever. I had a laptop with the T9800 a few years back and it was pretty quick. I also just refurbished two older laptops with T9400 and with a SSD in them that they plow 10 Windows without any problem.

The max memory is 4 GB, and you can use all of this, if you are running a 64 bit OS I recommend. Even if you are running 32-bit Windows, with two identical modules will alow so to run in dual channel that the sytem can take advantage on a 32 bit OS and memory transfer is about 10% faster and every little bit help.

Yes, you can use aka PC2-6400 DDR2-800. Memory clock will always be 333 mhz (667 double) and no 400 mhz (double to 800). DDR2-800 is much more widely available.

  • Battery Lenovo G70-80

I bought a brand 'new' Lenovo G70-80 from BestBuy a couple of weeks. I never noticed until last night, but battery does not charge even if the adapter is plugged. Someone else has the same problem and if so, were you able to get a replacement for your adapter and/or battery?

    Hi Umeshkatyar

I called Lenovo warranty and requested a replacement card. I got it in 2 working days.

After that I swapped the adapter, it charges very well now.

  • G70-120ea: G70-120ea upgraded to 64-bit Can I put more than 4 GB of memory

I have a laptop, G70-129EA and wanted to put more memory in it. I know the specs says orginal max memory it can use 4 GB but is it because its running 32-bit windows?

If I switch to 64-bit can put more memory in it? Say 8 GB or 16 GB?

(I know it has dual memory slots so can put 2 x 4 GB etc)

It is an older machine using an older type of DDR2 memory. City of repair:

Supports up to 4 GB of memory system

    Support PC2-6400, 800 MHz and DDR2 PC2-5300 667 MHz, DDR2

4 concerts is a hardware limitation, not caused by 32-bit Windows. Some other similar portable HP at this time will run 8 GB of DDR2 using the same combination of processor / chipset. When the laptop has been done 4 gig of DDR2 memory modules were quite rare, so the manual just may not consider this possibility. However, 4 gig of DDR2 memory modules, although available, are very expensive. A kit of 8 GB (2 x 4 GB) of any brand with a good reputation will cost more than $100. 16 GB of DDR2 is not possible as there are no 8 GB chips. It is not worth to this laptop to go beyond 4 GB in my opinion. Run with 4 GB of memory on 64-bit Windows and pass that same $100 or even less on a SSD 240 GB and you'll get the speed you are missing him.

  • Hello newbie g70-70

Hi everyone new g70 - 70 owner, I look FORWARD 8.1 and you want to get off at 7. I have created a backup of the system to an external hard drive. I find my product key of victory 8 and recorded on a doc, my questions are; It has a hybrid with mechanical drive CT 8gssd, if I use the Lenovo OKR and install win 7, will be that create problems with this hd or can I format completely and install 7? I have already downloaded all the drivers for win8 to the lappy and win 7 from Lenovo. If I wanted to use the media to restore in the future it would still work if I put 7 on the hd before? Thank you andy

If you want to downgrade, your options are either to erect Dual boot (not easy with win 8) or wipe the drive and go with a new installation of Windows 7.

Whatever it is - make sure that you have created your "factory restore discs" before doing anything. The OKR is not available in Windows 7 after decommissioning as the partition was linked to the will no longer exist.

As an alternative - you might be able to get a set of Windows 7 from Lenovo recovery disks, if they exist... This will give the OKR for Windows 7 options, and have all the drivers preloaded to match.

    Good luck.

  • laptop g70 t200 will be it coonect to the web in Europe and India

If I take my laptop g70 t 200 to Europe and the India can download information via the web?  Boy's HP no help to find a place to ask this question.

    Hello:

It depends on what wireless card you have now installed and where you live now (or where you bought the laptop).

Some cards wireless from the same manufacturer and model have different part numbers that only work in certain parts of the world.

HP generally refers to these cards as MOW (more people) and the ROW (rest of world).

So, if you can provide manufacturer number and model of the card you have and if you use it now, we are able to know if it will work in Europe and the India or one or the other or neither.

  • HP G70 laptop

    Hello!

I have a laptop HP G70 PC is 4 years old and the HARD drive is in very bad condition. I would like to replace it with an SSD, but I'm not sure that the Wistron 360 motherboard supports SATA III or not. I tried to find specifications or manual, but found nothing.

    Any help welcome

Here is the link to the product for your model specifications page.

    http://support.HP.com/us-en/document/c01606481

I can tell by looking at the plug, it has a Mobile Intel 4 series chipset, which means that the drive works the hard drive at a maximum rate of 3.0 Gbps (SATA II).

See page 3 of the form below.

Two Serial ATA host built-in controllers, each with transfer rates of up to 3 Gb/s, SATA support ports four for the increased storage capacity and speed.

    http://www.arrownac.com/services-tools/design-tools/arrowedge/parts/2009/vol1/PDFs/intel_core2_duomobile_intel_express_chipsets_product_brief.PDF

I installed an Intel 330 SATA III SSD in my HP Elitebook 6930p which has the same Mobile Intel Chipset as yours and it works fine.

Still a big improvement over the mechanical hard drive and if I ever decide to get a new laptop, I have SATA III SSD to work with the new drives SATA III there.

  • G70 will not turn on or off and is uncontrollable squeal

OK, I have a g70-460us, with windows 7 installed. It worked fine until today when I picked it up and the screen became black, sure its actually turned off, then it began to scream uncontrollably. The only way to stop is to take the battery out of it. but when his back plugged it again immediately. The dvd rom also has the light on, but it does not respond as well.

Anyone have any ideas of what I can do with it, or do a few scrap items now?

    Thank you

    Hello

I would say that all indications point to a hardware failure, possibly on the fan, but that would be just a guess without seeing it.  It may be worth trying a local computer repair shop to see if its economically viable for repair.

    Kind regards
