  The driver for the CD/DVD drive is provided by the Windows operating system.  If you have problems with the drive, try the following.

  Run the fixit automated Microsoft at the link below.

  Windows 7

  Vista

  Check if the drive works now.

  If it isn't, click on the Menu start, open the all programs, open accessories, right-click on command prompt and select "run as Administrator".  In at the prompt, type the following command and press ENTER.

  sfc/scannow                (Note that there is a space between sfc and /)

  Let the entire process, then the output type and press ENTER.

  Then, click on the Start Menu, open Control Panel and click Device Manager.  Click to open the CD/DVD-ROM drives.  Right-click on the drive and choose uninstall.  Do not delete if requested drivers.  When the device has been uninstalled click the icon 'Search for hardware changes' (usually just below help in the toolbar).  Let windows reinstall the disc and see if it works now.

  Hello everyone. I bought my HDX X18T - 1200 CTO last summer with the option of two hard drives of 320. I currently have my secondary drive failed each test disk error checking I throw at it so I know it's meant to death in the imminent future.

  Question: I have already backed up disc twice on different external sources, but now since my laptop and its equipment are still under warranty, I am trying to locate the area on the HP site where I can request a repair underwarranty. Could someone please direct me to the correct site link box?

  Secondary question: I really don't want another Seagate, but since it is under warranty I should get a new disc free of charge. However, I don't want to send my laptop in to an HP repair center, which is incredibly stupid when I can just share myself readers in 5 minutes. Has anyone asked the same thing before? On a hard drive, they will usually send you a replacement but they ask for a credit card number and they load it, then he credit when you send in the old.   I have a laptop of the Premium of HDX 16 t, model X16t-1200 series.  I want to replace the keyboard with a backlit.  I have a copy of the manual for support, and the instructions to remove and re - install the keyboard are very simple: remove the two screws from the underside of the laptop and a third screw from the upper left corner of the keyboard itself.  The problem is, I can't find this screw 3.  Ther diagram shows that it is between the ESC and f1 key, but I do not see a screw.  I have a small spacer between these two keys, but no sign of a screw.  Anyone can shed some light?
