Someone please help me with this!

I bought this laptop from a friend (have receipt) who sell it to me because the screen was cracked and spidered all out when you the activated. And everywhere he went to ask to get the screen fixed it is very expensive ($250 - $350) and he said that it would be just a newer laptop. So he sold me this which is a model Probook of HP4420s XT940UT #ABA. About a week after I bought this Probook friend who sold it to died me suddenly. It was sudden and terrible. Some time later, I had the time of the purchase of the LCD for this model, replace it myself (was very easy actually) and booted up the laptop with a new installation of Windows 7 Professional 64-bit Edition. After installing all my software and using the laptop for a while now, I wanted to get into the Bios that I've never done. So when I started the laptop, click ESC, then F10 to enter the BIOS, there were two places to enter a password is different then all Dell I've ever owned. One was mine I guees I put in place using HP protect tools and the other says BIOS/administrator. Well I can do most of the changes with the one I put in place with my password but my password does not work, nor can I get in some very significant changes that I wanted to do using Bios/administrator, as kindling the LoJack, namely the blocking of the hard drive etc. , turning on turbo boost, fan, etc. Well, since the person I bought is no longer with us, there is no one to turn to the answer to this question of administrator/BIOS password / problem.  I tried to take battery Rtype and restore that way, didn't work. Several times, I called HP and they sent me to a BIOS page to download the same BIOS, I have already, would not let me install it. When I bring up the command prompt and do not put anything in BiosConfigureUtility.exe happens, said just a wrong command. When I try to enter the BIOS through the C: file in the files of the SSM, I reach the BiosConfigUtility.exe file, click on it to open it and it just flashes a way small order page to fast to read what it says. I would like to have complete control over my laptop thinking I have a lot of time and money invested in it now. The problem would have something to do with installing the 64 bit version of Windows 7 instead of the 32 bits I suppose initially that he came with? I have all the manuals and they say that this laptop is compatible with Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit Pro is what I installed. I'm mixed responses from many different people on this and would like an answer from HP someone who has experience in dealing with the BIOS in the Probooks business models if possible please. I really like this Probook and have since become big fan of most HP, Dell and Lenovo.  I intend to buy two probooks, one for my wife and one for my daughter because this one is like a MacBook, but better.  Thank you for reading this and I hope someone can help.

Once you open a session with the service the customer of HP one case of pension, they will provide once the utility you and steps to execute it. who can capture the UUID. BTW - UUID is a unique ID for each machine (16 digits or more) stored in the BIOS itself.

Once the results of the utility (UUID and other info) in the log file, shared with HP, they can generate a key file (SMC) to reset.

Well, depertment of technical support can help you in it, no need to ask for anyone in particular or the Department.

    It will be useful.

  • Re: Satellite P100 - after update BIOS it does not start optical drive

I have updated the BIOS to 4.70 in my P100 PSPAAE. After restarting, I expect about 10 minutes, but nothing has happened, after that the screen of the BIOS, the screen went black. I turned off the laptop only.

I chose the option "start windows normally". Since (I assume) the laptop does not drive. Any, I have to start from there. Everything else works fine.

It is because of the update of the BIOS, or something else could cause this problem? Any idea or help appreciated!

    Hello

The optical drive is recognized from the BIOS?
You can read the disc in Windows?

Maybe you should load the default settings in the BIOS and try another bootable disk.

  • "No boot device, press a key." Unable to access BIOS. Does not start a DVD. USB not a startup option.

How can I get into the BIOS or boot from a Live CD or the Windows installation disk?

    Here's the background info:

    Laptop: Acer TravelMate P273-MG-6608

    OS: Windows 8.1

    Actions leading to the problem:

I tried to encrypt the drive using BitLocker.

On reboot, I get the error message "no boot device, press a key."

When I hit a button, I get a boot menu that lists the HARD drive, DVD player and optional network initialization.

Booting from either the HARD drive (of course) or DVD does not work.

    The discs I've tried:

    Acer system restore disk

    Restore Win 7 disc

    UBCD

    Hiren

Ubuntu installation (Saw elsewhere on this forum that worked for someone).

Methods that tried to access the BIOS:

Turn on/off the laptop while holding down the key F2.

While tapping the F2 key about once per second.

Same thing with the delete key.

    Same thing with F10.

Same thing with Alt + F10

    Same thing with F8.

Each method has tried several times without success.

    Action taken:

Removed the HARD drive and connected to a work computer. In doing so, I was able to recover all my files.

Player settings appeared to all be correct. Drive letter C:, file NTFS format, primary partition, the recovery partition was there as well.

Re-inserted the original in the laptop HARD drive - without success.

Formatted the primary partition on the HARD drive, put it in the laptop, the same results.

Formatted the entire HARD drive, put it in the laptop, the same results.

    What I see as options:

    1. format the HARD drive outside Windows, for example using Hiren's Boot CD and Gparted.

    2. in so doing, and imaging of the player with a 8.1 for Windows or ISO 7, if I can find a.

    3. If I can get into the BIOS, I should be able to get the laptop to boot from something. Or disable UEFI, which I think is part of the question.

Any ideas on how I can enter the BIOS or get the laptop to boot from the HARD disk or a floppy disk?

    Solved.

I downloaded the required BIOS file of:

    http://global-download.Acer.com/GDFiles/BIOS/BIOS/BIOS_Acer_2.08_A_A.zip?acerid=635114527449782829&S...

Once downloaded, I extracted the files from the archive .zip.

Then I low-level formatted a disk USB flash with the FAT32 file system.

Once this is done, I copied the files from within the archive on the USB flash drive.

With the USB stick inserted into the laptop, I turned on it while pressing ALT + ESC. This brough to the top of the screen where I choose to hit F2 for the program installation, or F12 for the boot menu.

I pressed F2 and the BIOS came admin screen. Then I yelled something like ' Hallelujah! "

I changed the MBR to the STRANGE device, put in the first disk to factory default retrieve and press F10 to save and exit the BIOS.

The Acer splash screen went up, and the laptop booted into the recovery disc. It should work here.

I hope this helps someone in the future.

  • 6 ESXi on Mac mini 2012 Yosemite does not start

    Hello

im a Mac mini running with ESXi 6 2012. I create a virtual machine to run Yosemite. On my Mac, VMware Fusion 7.1.1 it executed. When I download on my ESXi server, it fails to start and stay on point. When I use the verbose boot, he tell me missing bluetooth.

    Can anyone help?

    Greetings

Hi demiyo and welcome to the VMware communities!

There is a known issue with the 'Upload on server' function in Fusion 7 when used with virtual machines in Mac OS X, which causes the loss of one of the necessary configuration options for Mac OS X virtual machines run.  The symptom is that the virtual machine appears to hang when starting, never getting to the login screen.

    To work around the problem:

    • Power off the virtual machine.
    • Open a session shell ESXi (if it is not already selected, use the ESXi console Troubleshooting Options section to allow the ESXi Shell or SSH).
    • Change directory to the virtual machine (/ vmfs/volumes/datastore1 /...).
    • Edit the virtual machine configuration file to add the following line:

    SMC. Present = 'TRUE '.

    • Quit the editor and the power on the virtual machine.  It should now boot successfully.

    See you soon,.

  • Satellite Pro 6100: cannot get into the BIOS and does not start

I have a portable Satellite pro 6100, en I was trying to boot from an external USB hard drive. When I activated the second hard drive option in the BIOS it has stopped booting all in all, I can't even get into the BIOS Setup more. All I get is "In touch with tomorrow TOSHIBA" screen with the icons to select the method of priming preferred manually after it's just blank screen with a cursor blinking in the upper left.

Press ESC or F8 before to turn usually results in fast beeps sounds.
Press tilde (~) before turn is reflected in the remaining space screen (not even the home toshiba screen appears) and slow Zens sounds.

Apart from that I can't really do nothing at all.
I tried to reset the BIOS by disconnecting the battery CMOS/RTC (hoewever, we call it) of the motherboard for a while with no results.

Turn on/off without the results of HD internal in a white screen with an ERROR 'IDE #0.
I can always stop by pressing the power button, you don't have to bother on the external hard drive it past I don't even want it works more.

    Suggestions?

    Hello

I agree with Graeme. Your HARD drive is probably faulty. Sorry, but I don't think that you will be able to use the external HARD drive. The option in the BIOS is not for EXTERNAL HARD drive is just, I guess, for disk HARD placed in select Bay.

  • Satellite A100-920 - after updating the BIOS, it does not start

    Hi all

I've updated the BIOS of my laptop to V6.0 (excerpt from the Toshiba site) then Windows XP and it went well, then Setup wanted to restart the PC.
But restarts, he won't have in the startup process. I can not access the start menu, or anything else by clicking F2 or F12. But could go the detailed process by clicking on escape. And there I see the following messages:

    Phoenix TrustedCore (TM)
    V6.0
    Version.Mak - r1.53
detects the dual core [email protected]

No TPM or TPM has problem.
    1023 M system RAM passed

    And that's all.
I can not get older versions of BIOS, and I couldn't find the version of the version 6.0 update that I could put on a CD for an another BIOS update.

Anyone has an idea on what is wrong? And if you find that it's to do with version 6.0 and I need a previous version, please could you send me the installation files that are necessary to do the update via a CDROM.

    Thanks for your help.

It is unclear to me that you can do the BIOS update using CDROM. The BIOS updates are designed to be done under operating systems. Old traditional updates have been a little different.

In any case, it seems that the BIOS chip is damaged. I can imagine this downgrade can help but where to find the old version. I know you can get it from the authorized service provider. they have access to the database of Toshiba and they can download the old version of the BIOS.

The download page is just the latest version available.
Contact the nearest service and ask for help.
