HP Pavilion 17-g108na: Reinstall Win10

Dear Sirs,

I bought a computer laptop 17-g108na HP Pavilion with Windows 10.

I have a question: How can I do a clean install of the operating system Windows 10 (again)?

The laptop came without any CD or USB key and Code 10 Windows.

Thanks a lot for your answer in advance.

Chris.

* Edit: *.

I found the recommendation of a member of fellow forum to visit WINDOWS 10 DOWNLOAD

and create a USB support with installation media.

(Post: http://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Notebook-Operating-System-and-Recovery/Reinstalling-Windows-10-OS-after... )

I did as suggested and the installation media was created very well as it sounds.

But now I have another question. Windows tagged to a registration for a new installation Code.

I heard this kind of Windows hardcodes the registration code in the USB support.

Anyone know of experience if this is true and if I can go forward a reinstallation of Windows 10 (without going through a registration code)?

Thanks again for helping me here.

Chris

I have clean recently installed win 10 on my laptop, no worries.

I used tool for creating Microsoft Media (is that your link will?) to make the installation media (USB key).

If your computer comes with win 10 or previously had it installed and activated correctly, so I think I know it activates automatically during installation. No key is required, it works. Just make sure that you create a disc with the same version that you had previously installed (home or pro).

My request is: how to install Windows 7?

    Hello

    There are two options available.

    1. you can order a set of replacement recovery disks using the link below - it will reinstall the operating system, all the drivers, and almost all of the original software (the exception being often tests of MS Office).  They will also recreate all of the original scores, including the recovery Partition.

    Order HP recovery disks.

2 another option that you might consider is to create your own Windows 7 installation disc.

Before you try the following, make sure that you can always read the character product activation key 25 on your label Windows COA (5 blocks of 5 alphanumeric games).

An example of a COA label can be seen here.

You can create a Windows 7 installation disc yourself using another PC - just download the good Disk Image ( this must be the same version that originally came with your laptop - it is listed as Windows 7 Home Premium 64 - bit ) from the link below and use an app like ImgBurn to burn the ISO correctly on a blank DVD - a guide on the use of ImgBurn to write an ISO on a disc is here.  These Images are clean and a very respected source (Digital River).

    Windows 7 sp1-iso-official-32-bit-and-64-bit

Use the disk to perform the installation, enter the activation key of Windows on the label of the COA at the request and once the installation is complete, use ' 'phone Method' described in detail in the link below to activate the operating system -this made method supported by Microsoft and is popular with people who want to just have a new installation of Windows 7 without additional software load normally comes with OEM installations.

  • HP Pavilion 17-e119wm: reinstall Windows 10 operating system after replacing the hard drive

Hello, I bought a laptop HP Pavilion year last for work or school. He perfectly managed until yesterday when it was freezing to close unexpectedly. Waited about half an hour to see if it would work himself, I had several programs running at the same time. With no results, I did a hard shut down and left for about two hours. Trying to turn it back on, I was stuck on the HP Home screen for almost an hour. I turned off the and tried again. Sometimes I would be stuck on the startup screen, and sometimes he would show that he was about to auto repair, then the screen turns off. In addition, the recovery menu of the system through the F11 key did not work, so I did a Quick Test of system and received a short Drive DST hard failure.

I plan to buy a replacement HGST 5 K 1000 1 TB hard Drive from the manufacturer; However, my warranty expired last month, and I'm not sure how to reinstall the OS (installed with Windows 8.1 then upgraded to Windows 10 factory), once the new hard drive in place.

I've never done a HP system recovery Image, and I'm low on funds, so I'm not able to contact HP directly. Help, please. I am a student and I work from home, so I am at a loss without my system.

If you want to reinstall Windows 10, then this is the part the more easy and free.  I understand, completed after the upgrade to Windows 10, then you can clean install Windows 10 site M$.

On a work computer, go to the WINDOWS 10 DOWNLOAD, scroll down to the purple 'Download tool now 64 Bit' click that to let do its thing.  On the next screen, choose 'Create the installation media for another PC', then what kind of media you want to use DVD or USB flash.  Once created, install Windows 10 on the PC in question - when everything that fact it is activated.

  • Pavilion 500-314: Reinstall not destructive

I am trying to perform a non-destructive reinstall of Win Home 64 bit on my 500-314 Pavilion 8.1.

Since HP does not provide Windows installation floppies, and this procedure can be done recovery disc, I did a USB bootable Microsoft support Web site.

The problem is that, once started, it tends to cling on one screen. I had the process works correctly once but be cause that I stupidly tried to do something else at the same time, I had to take off to the resettlement. Since I had to restart, I have not the option reinstall back screen.  Now when I start again from the USB key, reinstall it starts but clings to the screen "Ensuring you are ready to install" instead of the option on which screen reinstall to perform. I tried waiting for that step to continue, but after 6 hours, I decided it was certainly stuck (it happened several times). I tried several reboots, but that doesn't seem to help. It gets to the screen of tht and then stops.

I ran the installer as an administrator, so this isn't it. I made the media twice so this isn't it.  Any ideas why installation does not now (same thoough it once)?

PS no, I buy the installation diskettes not factory win 8.1, since I will be upgrading to Windows 10 once the bugs are developed in a few months.

You are of course, right, on the difference between a repair installation and update - and I wish MS had done it much clearer to people because their general information leads people to assume these are the same, and when they do a refresh and lose their applications, they are very angry!

  • Pavilion dv6 - 7043cl: Reinstall Intel WiDi, HP compatible version on 64 bit Win 7 Pavilion DV6

On my Pavilion dv6 - 7043cl, with Windows 7 (64-bit), I had been using the Intel WiDi successfully to the screen of my computer on my 50 LG Smart 3D TV, except for the display of 3D images processed in the correct 3D TV fit-a proven program (Stereoscopic Player).   To try to resolve the problem of 3D, I've updated the Intel's WiDi with the latest version on the Intel site, only to discover that I had missed a message indicating that another version of HP OEM of WiDi has been set up by HP for the maverick graphic processor on my dv6, requiring the HP software update.  Thus, subsequent attempts to use the WiDi Intel--update failed;  computer to TV connection has been detected, but on the TV screen, rather than get a duplicate of my computer screen, I got a box in the lower right corner, saying something like "Miracast connection".  After the disappearance of this box, nothing on the TV and the message on the computer returns to "disconnected".

I tried to restart - tried again, same result.  Through HP Support Assistant, drilling up to my description of the computer and looking at the updated list.  Under something like "Displays and Multimedia. I found the HP Intel WiDi update and tried to apply it.  Unfortunately, the result was a message that I had already "installed a newer version" (apparently the update I had applied since the Intel web site).  As a result, I thought that I had to reinstall the Intel WiDi basis from a registered source file and update the list update HP rather than use the one on the Intel Web Site.

So I uninstalled the Intel WiDi of the "programs and features" in the Panel.  Now I can not find a setup file for the base WiDi that works with my computer!   Question: How do you recommend I have restore the HP Intel WiDi for Windows 7 (64 bit) version?

    Hello:

I found the Intel Wireless Display software under the section multimedia driver on your laptop support and driver page.

Of course, I would have thought that he would have been entered in the section of the wireless driver...

This package contains the Intel Wireless Display software for the laptop models running a supported operating system. Intel Wireless display software allows users to view information and video on a remote monitor or a TV equipped with a device that supports the technology Intel Wireless display (WiDi). This software runs only on systems that meet the eligibility criteria specified by Intel.

    File name: sp63552.exe

I disabled the secure boot and can boot from a CD of Linux, so I know that, basically, the computer is still alive

My question is, once I have comes from replacing the hard drive, I can get a copy of replacement windows to HP or do I buy one out of the copy of the Windows Tablet (or install Linux)?

I was told that the machine is two years old and just out of warranty.

    Thank you!

If out of warranty, you will most likely need to buy a set of HP or a partner of HP recovery disk. The good thing is that it's a reasonable price.

  • 15-ab236nl Pavilion: Pavilion 15-ab236nl install an SSD

    Hello

I am interested in buying this laptop

    Pavilion 15-ab236nl

AFAIK, there is no option for a second HARD drive, so if I change the default HARD drive with an SSD in my choice would that work? (which means I'm able to reinstall Win10 etc..)

or rather, if I had to buy a HARD drive for this model caddy, swap it with the DVD drive and install it with a SSD would that work? Do I need any special ribbon cable?

There is no information about this exploit, so if anyone has any opinions or knowledge that would be great.

I'm just asking if it is possible, not how, that would come later.

Here are the applicable maintenance manual:

    Manual

The first thing I want to emphasize is that this type of change, which probably will void the warranty. That said, it is possible to install an SSD, and according to the configuration you order, you can add a second hard drive in the slot of the WSSD m2 or the SATA connector, if she's not busy factory.

You generally don't want to use the optical Bay for one SSD because the interface is slower than the main SATA bus and a player any connected as it will not be bootable, so you end up just with very expensive and paralyzed storage speed if you put an SSD in there. The best thing to do is to get out the mechanical hard drive spinner, put it in the optical Bay for storage and install an SSD. The m2 slot gave people fits, so I recommend you just work with SSD SATA 2.5 inch and not a m2.

  • Sluggish after reinstalling OS

So I had to reinstall Win10, it a new install with Firefox and a new profile (I imported bookmarks). And now everything is slow. Videos and .gif are fine, but the user interface is trolling. If I open and close tabs, I can clearly see stutter them, before it was the fluid movement. It's the same if I zom an image (images get bigger and "appears") I see stammer. Even with right click, just a moment before its opening.

It was working fine before, but now it is not working properly. I tried to create a new profile and reinstall Firefox, with or without addons, but nothing helped.

Disable Windows update and reinstalled graphics cards drivers worked.

  • HP Pavilion desktop computer - 550-123 a: accidentally installed Windows 8 on Windows 10.

    Hello

We bought this PC just 2 weeks, and it came with Windows 10. My father disliked windows 10 so it has installed windows 8 from a disc installation and now internet no longer works. The internet went through Ethernet cable direct to the modem. I have reset the modem, but it is not getting an IP address assigned to the NIC card. I tried to force an IP address to be assigned, but it still does not work.

How can go back us to windows 10? I tried HP restore, but it only shows options for windows 8.

    Help, please!

    Thank you!

    Mani75

Since Win8 is out, embedded OEMs their product keys in the UEFI firmware on motherboard - and stopped including print on stickers on the PC.

You can reinstall Win10 by install media from this link: http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows-10/media-creation-tool-install?ocid=ms_wol_win10

Because your PC is already registered for Win10, if you get a window asking for a product key, just choose the option to ignore that.

After Win10 is re-installed and connect you to the Internet, the PC will be automatically reactivated.

    Good luck

  • Windows 10 on older Pavilion

I have a 6 years pavilion dv6 model xg880ua #abc (amd phenom 2 840 triple-heart) running windows 7. Anyone with this model has updated to windows 10. What was or is the experience. If I do, I'll do a clean install. Should I worry about?

    Hillelmenachim

    Hello;

Let me welcome you on the HP forums!

I read your post about the upgrade of your Pavilion DV6 laptop to Win10 and wanted to help.

I "upgraded" my laptop Pavilion DV6 (different model) in Win10 - but he had a lot of work, and I learned from it would have been much easier, I know the problems in advance had.  So, I set up this description to help others with a similar PC:

-first of all, some generic comments-

You think about the amount of work that you want to post just to run Win10.  Seriously.  Old machine Win7 tend to come in two flavors when it comes to upgrading Win10 - really easy and really difficult.

The really hard to upgrade computers fall into two categories: (1) those who are expandable to Win10 and works OK, (2) those who are not.

Computers laptops HP, especially old Win7 machines, often came with two different graphics - and Intel chips and then either a processor AMD or Nvidia.  This was known as switchable graphics card or hybrid.  You have run using the Intel chip most of the time, but when you need additional graphics power, as in the game, the PC automatically switched over to the use of the AMD or Nvidia graphics chip.

Problem is, this requires special graphics drivers to work, and while that those that are preinstalled on laptops Win7, these drivers simply do not exist for Win10.  These drivers are not available from Intel, AMD or Nvidia.  One way to tell if your PC has two different graphics chips is to look in under Graphics Device Manager.

WARNING IMPORTANT: If there are two different cards listed, an Intel and AMD/Nividia, then you have this problem - and if you force an upgrade to Win10, you will have serious graphic problems and your machine will not work.

However, if you do not have this problem, to CAN pass to Win10, but you must be willing to do four things:

    (1) do a full image backup of disk external drive or USB stick, capacity
    (2) changes to the reserved system partitioning hard disk recommandΘes mΘthodes,
    (3) use a different approach to Windows Update to do the upgrade,
    (4) be ready to do a clean install, if the upgrade does not work.

    ---------------------------------
    1: backup of images:
This is VITAL, because the machine is doomed to failure of the upgrade, and when that happens, you will learn that GoBack to Win10 function is NOT reliable, and that can leave you with a corrupt machine that will require the factory reset and lose all that on it, to get it working again.

You can avoid this by making an image backup to an external hard drive or a USB drive using Macrium reflect (MR), which provides a FREE version that can be used to image and restore partitions or drives together.

What I recommend is the following:
    (1) download and install Macrium reflect (MR)
    (2) run M. and choose the option: "Create an image of the partition (s) required to backup and restore Windows" to write a full backup to an external drive or USB key
    (3) use the option to create a CD or a USB startup key

NOW, you have the means to restore a full system that works for the external hard drive or USB key in a few minutes.
    ---------------------------------
    2: System reserved for resizing:
There is a small partition on the HDD with Win7 preinstalled machines known as system reserved.  It is something known as the boot loader code.  There is 100 MB format: all that is necessary for Win7.  But Win10 needs 350 MB and, in some cases, is NOT able to resize it on its own.  IF this happens, you must manually use a partitioning tool to resize it yourself.
    ---------------------------------
3: use a different approach to upgrade:
Windows Update is the simpler, but less reliable, way to do the upgrade from Win10.  A much better and more reliable way is to use Microsoft Media creation tool: http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows-10/media-creation-tool-install?ocid=ms_wol_win10

In my case, I created the installation media Win10 on USB inserted that and tried to do the upgrade while remaining in Win7.  Who - failed miserably!

So, I ended up having to restore my PC to Win7 (using MR backup, I had made before the upgrade) and follow the details in step 4 - and it worked!
    ---------------------------------
    4: be prepared to clean-install:
If you do all this, and after the upgrade, your PC works partially, this means that the upgrade is not well and stuff is still there the previous OS corrupt the functionality of Win10.

You MIGHT be able to solve the problem in fact a clean install of Win10. Problem is that, often, a clean-install does not recognize prior activation, even if it should.

So, before doing the upgrade, follow these instructions on the community forums Win10 on creating a genuineticket.xml file: http://www.tenforums.com/tutorials/23354-clean-install-windows-10-directly-without-having-upgrade-first.html

You need more later to activate your pc Win10 after the installation of clean.

NOTE: I did the clean install, and even if the product key was SUPPOSED to work to activate Win10, he did not.  And calls to MS are loss of time - since the MS idiots said I couldn't activate Win10 with a Win7 product key!

What DID work was using approach documented in the tenforums thread genuineticket.  I copied that from the USB when I recorded it, restarted, and after that, my DV6 has been activated - and it working great since!

    -----------------------------------------------

    Good luck
