  • HP Pavilion Elite HPE - 532 s: 'Secure Boot Configuration' not found?

Hello support, I wanted to disable startup secure for my office.
I have a pavilion Elite HPE - 532 s Bios 7.15 I followed the step of many posts, but I don't have it under the heading "security"?
    I am on window 10 64-bit UEFI.
I wanted to disable, because I have a new GTX 960 graphics card and it stuck on the HP logo at startup all the time when I use the new card. !!

I tried to disable the security slot, but no matter what I do I get a black screen for my card both old and new so I have to reset the bios settings.
    Help me please.

    Thanks for the additional information.

    Here is my diagnosis/notice:

I don't think you'll be able to get the GTX 960 to work with this system.

Why it won't work in the UEFI/GPT:

It will not work in the UEFI [I think] 960 GTX is one card of UEFI and you must disable secure boot to make it work. Your BIOS is only "UEFI compatible" originally planned for Windows 7 [which does not support secure boot]. If you are unable to disable the secure startup, you can not use this card.

Why it won't work in legacy/MBR:

It won't work in legacy because it's a single card of UEFI.

    My suggestion:

Return to the legacy/MBR and use a graphics card that has a dual BIOS BIOS/hybrid or one who supports in particular the Legacy BIOS as described in one of my previous posts.

    Some other things to consider:

You PSU has enough power for this card? I think it takes a minimum of 400W PSU.

You connect the auxiliary power connector?

Have you tried to disable "Intergrated Graphics" in the BIOS [as appropriate]

    Hello

    I have a HP Pavilion dv6t - b 6, 00 CTO Quad Edition Entertainment Notebook PC and I installed 8 64-bit windows.

I installed the latest version of the BIOS F.1C.

I want to disable Secure Boot to boot from a USB EFI.

I started windows in Advanced Mode, but I don't see the option highlighted here: http://www4.pcmag.com/media/images/380851-back-to-windows-7-uefi-firmware-settings.jpg?thumb=y

My BIOS is locked and I don't have any advanced options there.

    Thank you

    Have a great day.

If you original computer comes with Windows 7, it is not / is not compatible "Secure Boot. Please see "on UEFI and Start Menu" for more information on access to various start up options and instructions on disabling "Secure Boot".

To boot from a valid "UEFI USB", the computer must recognize the active UEFI boot device. Some computers are not what UEFI valid "NTFS" format USB Flash Drives UEFI activate and in this case, the USB Flash drive must be formatted in FAT32.

Use the Boot Menu or Boot Device menu to choose a source of UEFI, such as Windows Boot Manager startup, - internal CD/DVD drive or UEFI - UEFI USB Flash drive.

The hard drive do not have a negative effect on the Secure Boot.  It seems that you should have all the drivers you need.

  • HP Pavilion p7 - 1267c p: Desktop Computer has no option to dissable the Secure Boot

I tried and tried and tried and tried, but I found no option to dissable start secure on my computer. The only option I found is in my BIOS, that is to dissable the sources of the boot. Which does nothing, because the computer still does not start with the installed graphics card. The BIOS seems to be obsolete, with a version of 2011 compared to version 2012, I saw in the step-by-step procedures, but there is no update for the BIOS avalible. I have also entered the advanced developed boot Windows 8.1 and found nothing related to UEFI. I am frustrated beyond belief and would apreciate any help out there.

    Ryan, welcome to the forum.

According to the specifications of the computer, it came with Win 7 Home Premium 64-bit installed.  This means that it didn't Secure Boot or UEFI.  HP didn't start using UEFI until mid-October 2012.  Your computer was released in December 2011.  Install simply earn 8.1 does not change the BIOS.

There is a BIOS update for the motherboard, but it's for Win 7.  This means that you will need to perform a system recovery to take the computer to its original with Win 7 Setup to install it.  However, it is not correct the problem you are experiencing.

If you try to install a 700 series card, they need UEFI.

  • HP Pavilion p7-1414 will not boot from the CD

    Hello

I recently bought your desktop HP Pavilion p7 1414, I am trying to boot from a CD to reinstall Windows 8 - I put the CD to start first in the BIOS, but when I restart the computer and I have the CD, "press any key to boot from the CD" is not displayed.  It starts just directly to the computer HARD disk in Windows to connect.

I have 64-bit Windows 8. 6 GB of RAM and a terabyte of HARD drive space.  I'm looking to reinstall Windows 8 for a new start.  Any ideas why it won't boot from the CD?

    Very happy!

    Hello:

  • Trouble with BIOS and secure boot

Hello, I own a HP Pavilion 15-b040sl, born with Windows 8 Sleekbook and has been upgraded to 8.1. Now, I decided to downgrade to Windows 7 (I own a regular product key) and has done so successfully (I'm also using a Linux distribution in dual boot). The problem is since I've upgraded to 8.1 Windows, Secure Boot allows automatically when starting (it did not before upgrade, because I just Press esc - F9, then select "portable hard drive" boot selection, now I have to open the BIOS, enable Legacy Boot (and automatically disables the secure boot), then it boots correctly) , but I have to do this every time I turn on the computer. Is there a way to fix this? Simply, I need something to disable startup secure activation automatically at startup. Maybe an old BIOS update? I tried to take a look at downloading drivers, but I am unable to find the older versions.

I finally solved this when I noticed there was an option to disable startup change requests. This option is selectable when you disable booting safe (without activating the legacy support). Thanks for help.

  • I hate the secure boot and a permament legacy boot startup sequence.

    I'm a new 700-074 8.1 running office.

I have a Pavilion old Pentium 7-year-old who was running out of steam with new programs requiring a 64 bit OS and more memory.

    So, I got the urge.

I like the image of the entire disk to an external drive once a month via a USB connection through a USB 3.0 adapter.

I like the 2014 Acronis True Image program.

The program may take a bootable cd, or it can be installed in the computer.

When run in the computer, the computer must restart once the program installs a startup program.

After I did it, the computer went to a black screen and wouldn't start. Had to call HP.

I removed the program and decided to use the bootable cd.

Don't see the cd because of the secure boot.

With the help of HP, I was able to go into the legacy boot and download Acronis to run but he warned me that my target reader wouldn't start because it has been formatted to MBR and not GBT.

So I reformatted the external drive at GBT but it seems to reboot the computer is returned to the secure boot.

On my flag, I have had trying to start first on the cd drive and then automatically try the first hard drive of the computer.

I seems that legacy boot can start only once on a single device before returning on secure boot.

Is there a way to keep the computer in legacy mode and try in order the cd drive then the hard drive?

When you ACTIVATED 'Legacy Support' is not disable "UEFI". Peripheral boot UEFI still have priority and will start as such. The cloned drive should start just fine, as long as the UEFI / GPT boot structure remained intact on the clone.

  • How to mount SD card in secure boot mode

I have a problem with my Imac where I can start only in secure boot mode. The problem is that in safe safe mode SD card not only mount. I need the contents of the SD card. How can I manually force the SD card to get?

There are some things that don't work in Mode without failure.

See note in the article here, try safe mode if your Mac does not commissioning - Apple support.

    More specifically,.

For example, these features do not work in safe mode:

    • You can not play movies in the DVD player.
    • You cannot capture video in iMovie and some other video applications.
    • An input audio or output devices may not work.
    • Some devices USB, FireWire, and Thunderbolt is not available.
    • Wi - Fi networks may be limited or unavailable depending on the Mac and OS X versions you are using.

If your Mac starts in Mode safe, but not normally, it is probably because you have installed a third-party software that prevents the normal start upward. If you remove this software when you're booted without failure, you should be able to start normally. Some common software that will always give you problems: everything that is supposed to clean, optimize, protect, purge, control or maintain if your Mac.

  • MacBook (running 10.6.8) works only in the secure boot? What's wrong?

I woke up my MacBook to mode 'sleep' when I suddenly had a kernel panic.

After stopping and restarting my regular boot of the computer, the MacBook will run after the gray apple screen.

but after that, it hangs on a gray white screen and refuses to go to the login window.

However, on a secure boot, the MacBook starts as it normally should.

I managed to restore my MacBook 10.6.3 and after that, he started on a regular boot,

but after using the built-in software update upgrade to Mac 10.6.8 the same problem comes back.

My Macbook will start only at startup, once again.

    I tried:
    -MSC reset

    -Reset the PRAM

-Try to use disk utility, but the button "Repair disk" grayed out.

Is there a solution to this problem?

When you tried to use the disk utility to repair the disk, you start from the DVD, or did you get this to run in OS X?

  • How to unload RAM after a secure boot?

I have from time to time perform a safe boot when problems.

For secure boot, all processes seem to be loaded to RAM, the RAM usage is much higher than normal. When I restart again (not in safe mode), the use of the RAM remains the same that when in safe mode! I expect to get back to normal, but this isn't the case. The only way I have found to reset the RAM usage is to reinstall OS X.  I'm a noob with OS X so please excuse me if this is a stupid question!

Is it possible to unload the RAM after a secure boot?

Yes, restart (or turn it off and then on again)

  • QosmioX70-B - working Secure Boot correctly?

On my Toshiba QosmioX70 - B Secure Boot is enabled in the UEFI /-BIOS (F2) Setup. Windows 10 Pro, installed on HD, still boots very well.

When I first started OpenSuse KDE Live 13.2 DVD for the first time on this laptop asked me a question that I remember exactly. It must have been something like: if I bypass Secure Boot or not. I decided to go around.

Now is triggered every time I boot from the live DVD mentioned above, no question, and the boot process goes all right.

On an another computer (Dell desktop) I never asked such a question and whenever I want to boot from the live DVD, I first have to disable Secure Boot in its UEFI /-BIOS (F2) Setup.

What happened to my Toshiba laptop? I doubt if Secure Boot is still effective. How can I turn it on once more? Let's not forget that the UEFI /-BIOS (F2) Setup still shows as active Secure Boot. I prefer to explicitly turn it off every time I want to boot from the live DVD instead of having this doubt (like on the Dell system).

It is still in effect, but it seems that Linux has added its own startup key secure BIOS, or replace the Microsoft key.
