HP Pavilion 500-164: compatibility cards mothers HP and CPU

I have read around and would like to know, did I not only upgrade options specified for my CPU, or can I use any socket FM2 CPU?

Also, it is true that I need to update my BIOS if I want to use the EVGA GTX Superclocked Edition 750Ti?

(Link to the GFX card: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814487024&nm_mc=AFC-C8Junction&cm_mmc=AFC-C8Ju... )

Thank you for your time.

There may be some intermediate model, but the way it is detailed that list contains all processors Socket FM2.

These processors are whitelist BIOS supports, in my opinion.

I replaced the power supply in this area for a graphics card into the PCIE slot. I put a Nvidia 9600 GT in the box, not changed no settings, tried to start, and I get no bios and 6 beeps. Any advice?

Based on specifications, your desktop HP Pavilion 500-164 has been bundled with Windows 8 installed and has a feature called 'Secure Boot'. You must DISABLE "Secure Boot" and ACTIVATE the standby mode 'legacy' in the BIOS before the computer will start with the nVidia 9600 GT installed.

Please, remove the video card, make changes to the BIOS and turn off the computer. Then, reinstall the video card and turn on the computer. Your problem should be solved.

My HP Pavilion 500-164 is not an HDMI Jack on the back of the office.  But she has a VGA socket.  I plugged a VGA cable into my office and my television.  But don't you computer desktop on my TV screen.  Nothing else.  I have a HDMI cable.  Should I get a VGA to HDMI?

    You computer has the following connections;

    3 - VGA           4 - DVI-D           12 - audio: output port (lime) line

I suggest to use a HDMI-DVI cable and a mini plug cable stereo 1/8 "to connect your computer to HDTV. Alternatively, you can use a VGA cable, but theoretically, the image will be of inferior quality.

You do not have an additional drive or in addition to disks 1-4, there is one labeled accordingly.

Thus, you would have answered no to the question asking if you have an extra recovery disk.

I was eager to build a new computer and was hoping to use the hard drive and the optical drive from the Hp Pavilion 500-164 to reduce their costs. I'm confused as to how to remove the optical drive, because I removed the two screws on the left and don't know how to get to the other side as it wouldn't come out. When you remove the hard drive, the SATA cable wouldn't come off, so I stopped here and would like some advice on how to remove the hard drive from its Bay.

  • Pavilion 500-164: motherboard replacement raises Questions

Thanks, Malygris1, for your very comprehensive answer.  Unfortunately, I'm looking forward and installed the new Board of Directors.  For those faced with replacing a motherboard HP, I will elaborate on my trip.  The most important step was in buying for the motherboard.  I have no HP, but from a dealer on Ebay.  I DID, however, carefully note the model of the motherboard AND the designated HP part number of alternatives on a small paper on the motherboard label.  The same motherboard model is used in several models of HP Office; but, if the number of HP spare parts is matched, the info on the model should be on the motherboard.

My original problems were solved with the installation of the new Council.  After a router struck by lightning, the ethernet port had stopped working, and when told to stop, or in standby mode, the machine would invariably restart.  The new motherboard solved both problems, which seem to be related to the power surge.

I installed the new Board of Directors of the Windows 10 updated 500-164 and held my breath I have it powered for the first time.  I was pleasantly surprised to see that everything looked the same as when I left it.  Recognized support assistant the new Board of Directors as part of a desktop computer 500-164.  I have not tried; but I hope that the recovery media will work, if necessary.  Malygris1, do you think that if Support Assistant recognizes the info on the model, the recovery disks will work?  I'm curious to know how it works, but, if not, no big deal, as I now have a new image Acronis 10 Windows installation, which works perfectly on the 500-164 Pavilion (without "Pitfalls", as some have reported with audio, etc. of the wireless card.).

My second concern was whether or not Windows is always activated with the installation of the new Council.  He said that he "Windows is not activated.  ... Rats and other profanity.  I know it can take time to be put in correspondence with the info from Microsoft, so I updated the bios and checked the rest of the ports for the features of the machine.  I returned in configuration/system Panel and he told me that the activation information were "unavailable" - different from the message 'not active' sooner.  I've been waiting on this screen for a few minutes and the message changed to "Windows is activated"!  I was ready to make Microsoft telephone activation and I had run a keyfinder to get the original MS product key for Windows 8 from the hard drive, but I didn't have to use both methods.

So, in summary, if you want a card mother 'replacement', shop for the exact number of spare parts HP; not only the MFG part number.  It will save you a lot of grief.  Obviously, if you want to 'upgrade' from your motherboard, all bets are off, because it's a totally different scenario with different issues to deal with.  My project was a complete success at a cost of $103 for the new motherboard and several hours of my time.

  • HP Pavilion 500 - 200 t: card memory HP Pavilion 500-200 t and upgrade information

I'm about to take my 10 GB of RAM RAM 16 GB of RAM and 500-200 t has only two slots for memory card. When I replace (2 x 8 GB cards) I have two 5 GB cards flying over. I need to know the exact left specifications more cards? I want to put the card in my Dell XPS 8500 4slot who has already 2 x 4 GB cards in there. And the specifications on Dell cards are cards of DDR3 1600 MHz. Can someone tell me the specs on the HP 500-200 t maps?

Please see the specifications of the product HP Pavilion 500-200 t and configurable Options page for the information you request. Based on the specifications, the factory in your computer memory should be 10 GB (1 x 2 GB, 1 x 8 GB) DDR3 PC3-12800. The speed is DDR3 - 1600 MHz. The size is a guess based on your statement "I'll have two 5 GB cards flying." Memory is available in sizes based on the binary progression... example... 1 GB, 2 GB, 4 GB, 8 GB, 16 GB, etc. There is no such thing as a 5-GB card.

As to put in your Dell... it may or may not work depending on the latency and/or refresh, or if it is dual channel.

This is your computer .  Power supply is 300W.  PROCESSOR AMD A8-5500.  D 7560 AMD graphics card.

COD Black Ops must these requirements.   Your CPU meets the corrected value.

The graphics are a serious difference... the comparison here is.  560ti vs the 760 and both are 170W.

You will need at least a 500W PSU, but again, I would see that a 600W Corsair associated with a card EVGA.

Finally, you need 8 GB of memory of motherboard.  Just 6 GB. Not sure about your Setup, because there are 4 locations, and you have 6 GB installed... Run the CPUID CPU-Z to analyze the 4 locations.

  • Pavilion 500-112eo graphics card upgrade

The 500-112 OA have an AMD Radeon HD 8570 + 8670 D Dual Graphics. I have not found it slow until my wife bought a fancy office with Geforce GTX 770.

I didn't know until reading the plug of envy and 770 GTX how much power needs a modern graphics card.

And I immediately saw that it was not an option for the 300w PSU in the Pavilion.

After a little research I found the ti Geforce 750 to have low power consumption if it works with a power supply 300 w?
I will notice no change in speed graphic?

What would you say of the ti 660?

If anyone has recommendations to improve the graphics please share.

    Hello

The NVIDIA 770 is a huge map that requires a lot of power to run it. I was recently helping another Member with a 770 problem using a custom motherboard high-performance with a 750 Watt power supply. This arrangement could be over kill for your PC.

MSI GTX NVIDIA graphics below 750 cards should work in your PC using a 300 Watt power supply.

MSI NVIDIA GTX N750 TI and the MSI GTX N750 TF if Newegg out of stock then try Amazon.

You will still need to do some research on your own.  You can contact HP Partsufer or HP support and see if HP offers upgrade kits.

  • the desktop pc Pavilion 500-164 to date of Windows 8 for windows 8.1

My dealer told me that the 500-164 Pavilion had windows 8.1.  This isn't.  Even if the Assistant on HP site says that it has not been tested, has anyone successfully done?

    Hello:

I do not have your PC but I don't see any reason why it wouldn't.

HP provides W8.1 drivers for this model on its support page.

Before moving to W8.1, I'll make sure to create the W8 recovery media so that if for some reason, something doesn't work well in W8.1, you can restore the operating system and software from the PC to its status of "out of the box.

And you should do anyway even if you do not upgrade to W8.

Check out this guide to make your W8 recovery media set.

  • HP Pavilion 500-321: graphics driver constantly crashing and recovery

    Hello

I've been instances make more frequent accidents of graphics driver. The message I get is:

"Display driver stopped responding and recovered."

Display driver Intel HD Graphics Drivers for Windows 8 (R) stopped responding and has successfully recovered. »

When this happens, the screen goes black for a split second and then everything goes back to normal.

It happens every time I play games, demanding or not (could be just Agari.io, for example), or simply to Watch youtube videos. When you play a little demanding games, even with low settings I know my chipset is capable of processing, it happens rather frequently.

I have a HP Pavilion 500-321 with an i5 CPU 4750 and 4600 Graphics Intel Intel chipset on Windows (64-bit) 10. The driver installed is Windows and the site of software & drivers of HP, the last (10.18.15.4271).

Any ideas on the way that it can be and how to solve?

PS: I've done several resets factory and same charges 10 Windows installs, so is not a solution for me.

    Thanks in advance.

    Sunshyn2005

I think that I managed to solve the problem by forcing the installation of the original drivers for my Intel graphics chip. I downloaded from the Intel Web site.  HP would not let me do this through the Windows Wizard or through installation of Intel software, so I did it manually after some research.

I have not seen the error message in more than a week now, not even when playing a bit demanding games, so I think it's safe to say that the problem has disappeared and that the problem is HP drivers in Windows 10.

I hope that you are able to pass it along so that HP can work towards a solution, if they are not already on this subject.

Thanks for your help and attention, Sunshyn.

I'll be upgrading my HP pavilions integrated HD graphics 8570 D a STRIX ASUS GeForce GTX overclocked 2 GB DDR5 128 - bit DisplayPort HDMI 1 750TI. 4 a/DVI-I graphics card. With that I also improve my diet to a Thermaltake TR2 500W 240 pins power power TR-500. I was wondering if it of ok to do on the computer and will not damage it. It is extra steps when I install these. Initially, I got the PC with windows 8 but have upgraded to windows 10.

    Hello

If the ASUS 750 TI requires a 6-pin auxiliary power connector and your computer is running a version of HP 8 BIOS then you should be OK.  Open your PC and measure to make sure that graphics card fits.  In addition, open the command RUN and enter: MSINFO32

Your computer is running a version of HP 8 BIOS?  If so, and if it is possible to install the graphics card then go ahead. Find out what the return policy is before you buy.
