8 GB of RAM works with woindows xp

8 GB of RAM will work with Windows XP?

In a Word... no. Windows XP is limited to 4 GB (or 512 MB for XP Starter Edition). In addition, the era of Windows XP has a limited number of hardware solutions (e.g. motherboards) which could deal directly more than 4Gbs of memory. More information

    Hello

I have Satellite U400-138 with 3 GB of RAM (2 + 1 GB sodimm modules)
    I have new kit 2x2gb sodimm-s Corsair PC6400(800MHz)

When I install new modules, system reported that they are working on 667 Mhz instead of 800 MHz,
Maybe that's the problem BIOS chipset because that support this frequency.

Help me, what to do, to run new modules on 800 MHz?

    Hey Buddy

I doubt that it is a BIOS problem.
The point is that the speed of the RAM can be lowered and locked by the FSB (front side bus)
If the FSB supports only 667 Mhz then your RAM 800 Mhz will run only at 667 Mhz

    Hello

According to Corsair, the DIMMs that you chose is detected only at 1600 mhz, which is not in the specifications published by HP.

You can roll the dice on the DIMMs that you chose, but I wouldn't recommend that buy you them until you contact Corsair and get a confirmation.  Computers HP can be very finicky with DIMMs, especially if you try to mix them with other DIMM modules.  If you do buy these bars and want to be them mixed with the existing DIMMs, then make sure the timings of latency CASE corresponding information validated HP. Also mix DIMM sizes will cause the memory function in unbalanced mode that adversely affect the performance of the memory.

You should be able to make your own decision on whether to roll the dice.

  • Satellite A660 - 11 M: does not start with 8 GB of RAM, but works with 6 GB

    Satellite A660 - 11 M:

I upgraded my RAM to 4 GB (2x2gb) up to 8 GB (2x4gb). When I start the computer I can see in the BIOS it reads 8 GB of RAM. However, when starting, it does not go beyond the white screen BACK (just before Windows starts).

If I delete one of the 4 GB & replace it with a 2 GB (so I have 6 GB total) it starts ok.

Anyone know how I can get it to work with 8 GB of RAM?

    Hey,.

To be honest, I've never heard of RAM SanMax modules...
In my opinion the problem is related to your RAM modules is not compatible to your laptop or defective.

You can test it with high-quality Kingston or prétestées authorized service modules?

  • C660 - 10 d should work with the single module of RAM to 8 GB?

I have a single module of RAM to 8 GB which works very well in Satellite C640, but does not work in my C660 - 10 d.
Should C660 work with a single 8 GB RAM module, or are you to have 4 GB x 2?
    Any advice much appreciated.
    (The module is Transcend JetRam PC3 10600 (DDR3 1333) 8GB)

    Hello

The question should be: is the Satellite C660 - 10 d supports 8 GB of RAM?

According to the information that is on the internet, the C660 - 10 d is supported by the Chipset Mobile Intel (r) GL40 Express.

This chipset supports only 4 GB of RAM and finally, you can use DDR2 modules 512 MB / 1 GB / 2 GB 667 MHz to extend the RAM

  • Satellite L350-141 works with 4 GB of RAM?

I want to improve my Satellite L350 up to 4 GB of RAM. BIOS accept 4096 MB.
But I can't install an operating system (xp prof. or 32-bit vista)
My L350 boot from CD DVD, but if the installation program does not start I have a reboot.

My question is: will my Satellite L350-141 work with 4 GB of RAM?

    Hello

I think that he should t be a problem with the 4 GB of RAM.

But as you probably n t known, Microsoft Windows 32 bit OS cannot use the full 4 GB of RAM due to the limitation of the 32-bit operating system.
Microsoft has published several articles and documents concerning the issue of RAM of 4 GB.
If you want you can google for this question.

Fact is that only Windows OS 64 bit (XP or Vista) would be able to use the full 4 GB of RAM.

The BIOS and Chipset also support 4 GB of RAM to make sure that the laptop and windows would be able to use the full memory.

  • Is - this windows 7 works with SDRAM and DDR Rams (1)?

    Original title: RAM for win7

    Hello

Did windows 7 works with SDRAM and DDR Rams (1)? !!!

Yes, Windows 7 works with this type of memory RAM. Windows 7 requires a minimum of 1 GB of RAM, which is more important.

    System requirements:

    * 1 gigahertz (GHz) or faster 32-bit (x 86) or 64-bit (x 64) processor
    * 1 gigabyte (GB) of RAM (32-bit) or 2 GB RAM (64-bit)
    * 16 GB of disk space available (32-bit) or 20 GB (64-bit)
    * Peripheral figure DirectX 9 with WDDM 1.0 or higher driver

  • Adding RAM causes freeze or blue screen. RAM works well with Win XP

I upgraded from Win XP to Win 7.  I had problems with the installation so I removed all non-essential equipment and was able to complete the installation.  When I add more RAM, I had emoved (two DIMMs of 512 MB) to the current 1 GB DIMM, Win 7 either freezes or I get a blue screen after boot up (it does not boot up to the desktop computer).  Even RAM works very well with my old XP OS (I did a disk clone before moving to Win 7).  The card motherboard BIOS is up to date (according to eSupport) and DIMMs are the same characteristics (a 1 GB DIMM and two 512 MB DIMMS for a total of 2 GB).  Windows 7 works very well with just the 1 GB DIMM in memory 1 of 3 location, but any combination of causes freeze or blue screen.  Is there something on the way Windows 7 manages RAM which is causing the problem?  If so, is there something I can do to solve the problem?

try running Memtest86 +, which runs from a floppy disk or CD and should eliminate or
confirm whether your one or more of your sticks of memory are bad or the values of the SPD in the BIOS are correct.
Let it run for as long as you can: 2,4,6,8 or several hours, so no errors at that time then your ram is OK.

  • A Dell U2414H can work with a mac Pro 3.1 (10.9.5) and an ATI Radeon HD 2600 XT?

    Hello

Here's my dilemma. I recently bought a Dell U2414 as a 2nd monitor to replace my old 2407FWP Dell (has died) with the understanding that the new monitor would work (via a DVI to mini displayport cable). I bought a high quality 3rd party DVI to mini display port cable. Obviously, the monitor does not. I can't get a direct Dell response if this will never work. My hunch is the graphics card can not simply to manage this monitor and it won't work with my system.

FYI: I also have an old DELL G2210 (resolution: 1680 x 1050 at 60 Hz) on the other DVI port. So I'll still need a DVI port.

Here are the current video card info:

ATI Radeon HD 2600 XT: VRAM (Total): 256 MB

Here is my Mac info (on 10.9.5):

Model name: Mac Pro (early 2008)

    Model identifier: MacPro3, 1

Processor name: Intel Quad - Core Xeon

    Processor speed: 2.8 GHz

    16 GB OF RAM

Firstly: If someone can give an answer as to if the monitor works with this graphics card, just to settle this matter and move?

Second, assuming that no, my choice appears to be:

    1. return the screen and try to find another 24 "that will work with the original map (someone there suggestions for what is currently still deployed that would work with such an old graphics card?)
    2. upgrade the map so it can handle the new monitor but still run the old.

I chatted with OWC on this subject and they suggested 2 possible upgrade cards but they will not be returned since they could not guarantee that they will work with this monitor there is a risk.

Dell has been pretty useless (I have no one said yes, the other doesn't).

Here are some suggestions from OWC (see below). Can someone comment and tell me if or the other will definitely work or offer another solution? I would really appreciate it!

This is a screen with a displayPort, a DisplayPort outside and a Mini DisplayPort connector, in 1920 by 1080 max resolution.

You are WAY overthinking this. A mini DisplayPort to mini DisplayPort or a Mini DisplayPort to [size] DisplayPort should do all the work for about US$ 10, no conversion.

You don't need another card unless your is dead.

  • ZoneAlarm PRO browser extension does not work in FF18, is it planned to work with ZA to resolve this incompatibility?

Update FF18 in January or December, received the warning that my security extension for the browser ZoneAlarm Pro (or add-on?) is not compatible and has been disabled.

I contacted Zonealarm and was told they were working on a fix.
In the past, they have always released a fixed extension within a few days of a new FF release, so I waited for a week, but nothing.
I then contacted ZA and the agent said I should revert back to FF17, but when I researched that with Mozilla, it was strongly advised NOT to roll back to FF17 (I couldn't figure out how to do so at the FTP site anyway), so I got back to ZA and was told in January that a fix should be released in 2-3 weeks.
It has been 6 weeks now and NOTHING from ZA.
I just spent an hour on-line with ZA and eventually was told they may never release a fix so ZAPro will work with FF18...that agent today wouldn't give me any info, even whether they were working to fix it or not...his solution was to use IE which is something I will NOT do.
I would just like to know whether Mozilla plans to work with Zonealarm to address this problem or not so I can try to decide what to do.
I HATE browsing with no firewall, so the follow-up question is whether you are aware of some other firewall (preferably free) that I can ALSO use with my installed ZAPro firewall and incorporate that other firewall to just work with FF18 and allow ZAPro to be my primary firewall for all other protection.
Any help would be appreciated because I'm thoroughly disgusted with ZA at this point for hanging me (and thousands of other FF users) out to dry with NO protection when browsing.
Also, by using FF18 by itself with just an AV program (eset NOD32), what security exposure am I incurring by not having any firewall protection in place?

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

    Thank you
    Chas Pearson

Running Win XP MCE SP3 with all updates from MS on CPU double 3.8 g, 3 G of RAM

OK, first of all, update Firefox 19. Then run the Zonealarm updates.

Please note that the extension of Zonealarm does nothing for the impact on the security of your computer (zonealarm still work without the extension), and stay on an older version of Firefox is a security risk. Thus, for most security, be updated with Firefox and disabling extension of Zonealarm are more secure that obsolete in Firefox and Zonealarm

Hello, I have an old compaq presario 5500 with intel, Windows XP, 512 MB of ram and (60 gigs of memory) [after the chip market] for my disk 'E '. • Satellite Pro A200 - new RAM work together

    Laptop Toshiba Satellite Pro A200-PSAF1A-003002, I bought the year last with RAM 2x512MB that I try to update my 3 GB RAM and I bought 2 RAM KTT667D2 / 1 G & KTT667D2 / 2G Kingston memory.

I added that the 2 strips of RAM in the laptop, but it does not start. The power and the drive lights and flash for 3 times everything off. No boot. But I remove one of the sticks of RAM and it starts very well and the RAM has been upgraded in the system.

I tried with the sticks and the two slots to remove 'bad slot' ideas and a stick of RAM works in a thin slot. Paste works in slot 1 or slot 2 and stick b works in slot 1 or 2, but not both at the same time. Is it simply a setting I'm missing somewhere? I checked the BIOS version is 1.7, I need to update my BIOS? Help, please

    Thank you
    Yana

I think that the modules are not compatible together and that is the reason why each module works in each slot.

Did you buy KTT667D2/1 and KTT667D2 / 2G. Different modules of s and are not working together.
You should buy only the modules with the same specifications and capacity (for example, 2x1GB and 2x2gb).

    What is the solution?

    Hello

This problem occurs after the change of motherboard. Usually after mainboard change it is very important to bring tests and diagnostic procedures. Without this procedure, the CPU works with fixed 600 MHZ.
You should contact Toshiba service to resolve this problem of CPU.

You will be very happy if someone has the same laptop model and quite the same module of RAM. Buy and test it with your laptop. If it won't work not return. End of the story.

The person who wants to sell you this RAM should be able to give a list of compatible laptop models. In any case, I recommend you to use compatible Toshiba or RAM Kingston modules. Both are tested and you'll get a high quality product.
