  • HP pavilion a6600f: difficulties to get the full capacity of my hard drives 6 to? Help!

    I just got a 6 TB hdd and installed to find that when I open my computer, it is not recoginize, so I went to disk management and he sees the car but the capacity is only 1.5 to. Ive been looking for a solution for this, but cant seem to find something that works. My computer has the MCP73M01H1 (napa) motherboard.     It may be that Windows XP 32 bits can not do what you want.  It might be able to be partitioned by GParted and then Windows XP can see.  I really don't know that Windows XP is limited.

    Search do a GParted boot disk and try it.

    so I'm a 2118nr Pavilion g7 and I reinstalled windows 7 because I'm not a fan of Windows 8 what so ever. While I did the install, I was able to get all the drivers, but the wifi. I changed the default bios, that did not work. Haven't installed the wizard Hp no help either. I'm able to ride on the only threw ethernet but this is a laptop not a desktop computer, so it's not suitable for me if anyone can please help I would be very happy.

    Set no. recovery disks. A is not an element of guarantee. Drives HP sets sold are for people that have inadvertently done what you were doing.

    The set of recovery disks is not expensive. The last I heard a whole totalled around US $20.00.

  • Pavilion g6 after renewal of hard drive recovery

    Have run tests of development with the new hard drive mounted and all this past.

    Have 4 HP recovery disks.  1of3 disc ok it 2de3 freezes at 73% full and gives the failure message. Press ok to try again just drops the message.

    Is this a problem with the recovery discs?

    They recover backup on external hard drive with USB connection, it is possible to recharge directly from this?

    Usually, the old series from Toshiba was equipped with the recovery disk and the image of Toshiba on the recovery cd.
    If you have a recovery disc, then you will have to boot from that disk to start the recovery procedure.

    If you don t have a recovery disk, then you can use a clean Microsoft Windows XP CD to reinstall the operating system and the necessary drivers can be downloaded from the Toshiba driver page we.
    It is a portable American and you need to find US page for drivers.

    have an HP pavilion ze4805us laptop which had a total hard drive failure... recovery disks were lost in a fire... replaced the hard drive with a Western Digital 250 GB drive... computer recognizes the drive, but with only 137 GB... impossible to obtain the Windows Millennium disk to install... I have it get the PXE - E61 error code... have looked for answers and tried a few suggestions to fix the error code, but no luck so far... would like to throw this laptop and runs again, it was so nice all in operation.     At the level of the BIOS, HARD drive should show the full capacity regardless of the distribution, but it will be limited based on what the current logical block installed the BIOS supports.  For example, the 250 GB HDD Needs LBA 48 bit to be recognized by the BIOS in its entirety.  Western Digital only provides downloads of software and support going back to Windows XP.  Windows Millennium Edition is not able to recognize the full capacity of the drive.  Finding drivers compatible with Windows ME is perhaps another challenge that XP uses a different architecture than Windows ME done.

    It seems that this laptop is the same time that the books mentioned in this thread.  Response from JackShack gives the best explanation as to why he shows quite different in the BIOS.  It has been many years, but I do not remember that the capacity of the HARD disk had exceeded what the BIOS at the time supported resulting in the 137 GB limit displayed in the BIOS.  This section of Western Digital shows that this problem is related to the operating system or BIOS supporting however, this should not prevent Windows to install correctly.

    I'm sure it's already done, as it was not a new BIOS since 2004, but guarantee the newest BIOS is installed.  Logical block address 48 bits, necessary for the larger disks (larger for the time) was released in 2003.  The 2004 related BIOS earlier than probably took supported LBA.  What is the current version of BIOS?

  • Smart error hard drive, run test, drive ok, always get the error message. Laptop HP pavilion g6

    got a "smart hard disk error": message on start up.  As suggested by ran disk hard test in the System Diagnostics.  Obtained "Hard disk 1 (301) correct", did a F10, save and exit.  Restarted the computer.  Still get the same error of smart drive on start up.

    The SMART 301 error would indicate that hard is defective and must be replaced.

    Hi all, I have a problem with my 22-H010EL AIO HP Pavilion TouchSmart.

    The hard drive broke twice while PC was covered by the warranty; now the warranty period is over, and the hard drive broke again. I guess that there is a power supply problem, in fact I see the hard drive has boots more than I actually received; Sometimes I hear a sound of boot clearly while the PC is on (and I'm sure that's not because of the stand by, because it happens while I use it). Also, just after the first replacement of hard disk, it showed 7 boots upward in an hour; I guess the power/SATA cable is damaged, the origin of the problem described, but it could be the motherboard, too.
    I would like to replace the cable to see if it works, I really hope he does it; Thanks in advance for any response.
