HP Pavilion DV - 6 1030us: keyboard for Pavilion DV - 6 1030us replacement instructions

Dear Tecchies

Thank you in advance for your help!  I need good, complete instructions for replacement of the keyboard on my HP Pavilion DV - 6 1030us; including all of the screws: Burkina Faso / deleted, etc.  I have the replacement keyboard.  All the instructions I found online seem to be regarding the different models, or just referring to the DV-6 in general family.  I just need the details for my model, 1030us.  I know that they are not too difficult;  I am a technician in A +, it does not help a bit.

Appreciate your help and all your time in trying to help me.

This is the manual that applies to your model. It applies to the series together dv6-1000, but it shows how to remove and replace your keyboard.

Manual

76-78 are the key pages. Screws and positions are clearly identified. You don't need to remove the screen. Be careful with the tablecloth on the switch cover and keyboard cables.

Good luck.

  • Pavilion 17-f042nr: backlit Chiclet keyboard for computer or laptop 17-f042nr

In terms of how to feel the keys, I love my keyboard. It is quite easy to type simple phrases etc. All that does not require a symbol - of the normal stuff. Problem is, I'm big enough coding, I play games, and I often use my pad. This keyboard chiclet-style boring, combined with the fact I'm touch-typist and work in conditions of low lighting makes everyday, my keyboard basically useless and extremely frustrating when I'm doing something more than just searching for words.

I can not easily use f3 to search for because I have to press fn and f3... and pray that, while I'm uncomfortable stretch my hand of the fn for the function keys, I hit f3 instead of f4, lest I lose what I'm trying! I can not easily go back without hitting accidentally all the other keys around the button annoyingly small and moved. I can not easily remove delete button without accidentally hitting the "home" button. And heaven help me on how many times I accidentally turned off numlock without knowing it, than to try to use the number keys and end up with a huge mess of cursor moved and to reach the mouse because of the absence of witness bright numlock.

Basically, I'm at the end of my rope with this design trend that is disgusting to put form over function. (Newsflash: keys are grouped together and have been for decades for some reason.) But since I need the computer and so forth (and well beyond the point of return, anyway), well... I hope someone can help me upgrade to a much better keyboard.

I'm looking for is a backlit chiclet keyboard (which I guess is more likely to be found) or a normal-style, bundled keyboard for my laptop 17-f042nr Pavilion. I'll even take a chiclet style which brought together key (ex: Esc |) F1 F2 F3 F4 | ...) where | is an extra/double spacing key compared to how it is now (ex: Esc F1 F2 F3 F4) and with the best space between the keyboard and a numeric keypad. A biggest delete key would be great, too. But I know that it is above all a chimera. Just, please, someone tell me how to get a usable/retro-illuminated/non-chiclet keyboard in this thing.

    Hello

HP computer parts have numbers if you do not have to buy a replacement from HP store part. Just find the right part number and buy it on ebay, amazon, etc. Of course, you can buy it in a store of HP (in line), but be prepared for a more expensive price...

The part number for the keyboard you want is: 639396-051

Hmm, I used the part number in google and unsuccessfully to sell yet. I suggest to contact HP in France and order the keyboard directly from HP.

For a new laptop which is the market, it may take some time until the spare parts sellers. However, HP should have some spare parts in stock...

    Windows 7 Professional 64 bit
    3. what device Wifi hardware is installed?

So, I think that is not important.

I want to change my keyboard to be backlit. Do you know if there is a backlit keyboard on my laptop. If so, what the part number? Where to buy it? What is the language of the backlit keyboard opportunities that fit in my notebook? There in Portuguese of the Brazil?

1 is not the number of product there is a sticker if it is present on the underside of the laptop that has

    "Product number".

2, 3, 4 only apply to certain problem that is why I have them here.

  • Backlit keyboard for dv7t-4100?

I need to replace the keyboard of my Pavilion dv7t-4100.  Is it possible to install a backlit keyboard, i.e. the connector present backlight on the motherboard on this model?  If Yes, what is the part number for the backlit keyboard?  I heard of people install backlit keyboard for other models.

By pulling on the maintenance and Service guide that I do not see any option of backlit keyboard ever made for this model.

    http://h10032.www1.HP.com/CTG/manual/c02666747.PDF

When it comes to finding some kind of alternative (alternative/modding parts) better would be to consult the forums of notebookreview.com for any additional information, but from personal experience, that backlit keyboards, there is a year needed a source of additional energy to light making it a little difficult installation.

  • Pavilion dv6-6156ea: display replacement

I need a litte help, earlier my screen woudnt turn on unless I bent the lid of my portable computer at a certain angle. Now, its competely went and even the Hp Logo that lights up in the back corner of the lid woud affected in the same way. So is it possible to replace the Ribbon for the screen of my Hp pavilion dv6-6156ea without replacing the whole screen and if so I'd like to help /suggestions on different parts of the source and replacement

any help will be greatly appreciated

Yes it is possible, but I'm not sure that's the problem. Have you tried an external monitor? Unless it's off to an external monitor the problem is not the ribbon cable to the screen or the screen of the Control Panel, but a motherboard problem.

    Here is the Service Manual:

    Manual

    Cables:

For use only with models of computer in the shadow dark and grey steel finish 644362-001

For use only with models of computer gold butter, espresso black, linen white, blue Pacific, pink Pearlescent, Ruby and Red Red Sonoma finish 640423-001

If yours is gray it is the part that you need to replace the display cable:

    Seven bucks on eBay

For $ 7, it might be interesting to try a new cable but hanging on to an external monitor is free.

See title - bought a Macbook from Best Buy American version, but can't seem to locate a cover of keyboard decent/sticker set for Japanese characters. The Apple store would be able to Exchange my English keyboard for a Japanese?

They would probably charge you for a Topcase, which can run several hundred dollars.  You'd better try to go back to the one you bought and order one with the Japanese keyboard.
