HP Pavilion dv6 (3040sl) - RAM not detected

Hello

I have a problem with my laptop RAM Detection. I had my dv6 for almost 3 years. Never had any problems.

Recently, I realized the performance became worse and worse and could not understand the reason.

Almost by chance today I have real system says is have 2 GB of RAM instead of my usual 4 GB (has always been 4 GB).

Nothing has changed in my pc. No major updates or anything. Does this mean that my RAM is broken? Or can we the mobo RAM slot?

I opened the pc and the two Rams (2 GB x 2) seems ok for me. Not sure what I should do then.

Try removing and reinstalling the memory. Also you can do a memory disk (CD or thumb drive) to test and run memtest86 to check and see if one of the modules is bad. You can also replace the modules into the two slots that need to diagnose if one of the slots is bad. If it shows 2 concerts or combining then two modules are good but a slot is bad. In last resort you can try to clean the gold leads modules very gently with a clean cloth and blowing the memory locations to see if, perhaps, dust arrived and does not have a good connection.

Now, if I want to upgrade the memory to 4 GB, then should I modernize the two slots? Or upgrade to the 4 GB single slot will work?

Your machine currently have 2 x 1 GB, you can switch to 2 x 4 GB (8 GB total):

1 location with 4 GB works but why you would do this, DDR3 RAM (DDR2, not) is cheap now

  • HP Pavilion dv6-3125er: RAM

Hello! I need help and consultation on the upgrade of RAM on my HP pavilion dv6-3125er (XW135EA #ACB). I have a RAM - 1067 MHz Samsung 4 GB SODIMM. I bought a SODIMM DDR3 PC10600 1333 MHz Kingston 4 GB. After that I put it, my laptop does not light. But GOD, show me this laptop has 8 GB. After that I took out my new RAM, my computer laptop turm with recover sistem.

Can you give me advice, I need to buy RAM that my laptop can work with it and turn it on.)) Want to upgrade to 8 GB)

This RAM as I bought it. It's the small fate.

In the store they told me, that I need to reinstall windows, and it will work. They show me this RAM on another laptop in the store. But it's not working with my laptop. In the manual, I read that windows 7 64 bit can run 8 GB of ram. Maybe I need to install windows 10?

The memory in the image is actually not low density to high density. It has 4 visible black blocks. How was the old module? HP laptops with Intel Core 1 St gen processors prefer largely low density memory (8 black blocks).

Don't listen to the idiots at the store. Without compatible RAM, you cannot reload Windows and you have 10 Windows or anything that is a moot point if you RAM that blocks the system to boot.

  • HP Pavilion DV6 6120us does not completely close

My HP Pavilion DV6 6120us crashes during stop. Windows looks like it goes through the process of closing and the screen goes black but the border mouse pad remains on and wifi (f12) button goes orange. The only way to close it completely is to hold the power for a few seconds. Once I start it again, it said that Windows was not shut down properly. After a few days ago, now the laptop battery is not detected.

I went into the BIOS and run the embedded memory test and hard drive, but both passed. I haven't done a reinstall of Windows, but the battery problem now I think it could be the motherboard, but I hope that it is something else, because it is out of warranty. I am running Windows 7 family SP1 64-bit edition.

I've seen a few posts on this forum with the same symptoms, but it never seems to be solutions. Any help is appreciated.

    Hello @Rangor and @dottorepcdotcom,.

I'm sorry to hear that you both have the same problem with your HP Pavilion dv6-6120us Entertainment Notebook PC computer to not stop correctly. I have things that you can try before you commit a material error.

First of all, I would like to you follow the steps in the HP Support document: performing a hard reset or forced to reset.

Secondly, I would like to try a stop with ALL USB devices disconnected from your computer.

Thirdly, I would like to allow you to start your computer in Mode safe. You can do so by following the steps in the HP Support document: Windows 7 Safe Mode and once it is completely started to stop him. If it stops correctly we have driver problem and I would like you to use the HP support document: use of the Recovery Manager to restore the software and drivers (Windows 7) to load the original drivers supplied with your computer. Make sure that you start with the Chipset drivers and install ALL the drivers available. DO NOT RUN UPDATES! Now try to shut down your computer. If it still has the issue make sure that you now follow the steps in the HP Support document: using HP Support Assistant (Windows 7) and make sure that ALL the HP and Windows updates are done.

Back, I would like you press F10 at startup and enter your BIOS. Once you are in the BIOS, press F9, which will save and quit with the default values.

Fifth, I want to make sure that your BIOS is up to date. You can check your update of the BIOS on the HP Pavilion dv6-6120us Entertainment Notebook PC Drivers page.

I hope these suggestions help to solve this problem for you. Thanks for posting on the HP Forums. Have a great day!

  • Pavilion dv6 Webcam does not?

I have a Pavilion dv6-1030 ca laptop, and since a few weeks, I had trouble with my webcam. When I open the HP MediaSmart Webcam, I get the following error message: "no video device detected. Please connect a video device to your computer. If you are using a built-in camera, please make sure that it is turned on. "I have a built-in camera, and (usually) lights up when the webcam application opens. I am running Windows Vista with SP1 and tried many things to fix it, nothing helps. The webcam does not appear in the device, under imaging devices Manager, nor any of the Hubs USB root. So far I have tried:

-Reinstalled the drivers of USB root hub

-A tried to fix the solution in the BIOS (that another thread suggested)
-A tried to use Recovery Manager to reinstall the driver (wasn't in the list)

-The recovery disks created to solve the problem (it didn't)

    -Updated the MediaSmart Webcam software

I'm at school right now, and I can't really afford to give my phone to obtain compensation for three weeks since I have exams coming. Any help would be appreciated! Thank you!

Don't pay fees to repair overpriced... it happened to dv6 my boss, lift just the frame surrounding the top and sides.  You don't need a crowbar on the bottom of the frame.  Use your nails under the inside edge of the frame, they have adhesive tape double-sided, so it can be a little difficult to dislodge.  Lift slowly so that the band can separate on its own.  Don't force quickly or you could damage it.  Make sure you are not prying the metal frame silver of the LCD, only the black plastic frame.  There are hooks plastic that will make a click sound when you lift up the frame, it will need a strength, so don't be afraid if you hear the wink, he should be able to put it back together if you did it correctly, otherwise you will need to use some tape to tape the rear frame, better than paying $100 +... haha.  Once you have pryed on the top of the frame and have access to the webcam module, you should see the cable going into it from the bottom, push the cable into the webcam, then see if the problem is resolved, the cable most likely just came loose.  If that solved the problem, I suggest to use something you can remove, as hot glue to hold it together, just in case the webcam really needs to be replaced, you can melt the glue wide and swap out.

If your microphone works very well and just the webcam does not work, then the problem is most likely a driver problem, or the webcam itself somehow has been damaged, which is highly unlikely.

  • Pavillion dv6 1325er: HP Pavilion dv6 1325er RAM upgrade

    Hello world.

I had a problem. I have Pavilion dv6 1325er with factory supplied RAM: 1 + 2 GB. I bought two Corsair 4 GB, but I often have BSOD. Privateers set fail in memtest, but each one goes. And Yes, DDR3 1066 Mhz, 7-7-7-20.

Could you please tell me what exactly RAM should be compatible with my laptop? Something like that?

So I tried a lot of memories. Now I can really say that Ballistx Crucial is guilty (and perhaps the only). I bought two 4 GB memory in each memory. And the number of chips is 16 on each memory. Memories with 8 tokens does not even of Crucial, even exactly the same features as the memory, I had the factory in my laptop. Memtest86 doesn't fail, so I think all is well. We will see later.
Thank you very much for the help.

  • HP Pavilion dv6-3020ed RAM upgrade

Hello, I want to improve my HP Pavilion dv6-3020ed with the new RAM, but I can't find what kind of RAM I should buy, I read something about SODIMM but I can't find how fast it must have. Maybe you guys can help me. The only thing that I found that it supports 8 GB.

    Thanks in advance

    Here it is:

    http://www.crucial.com/store/listparts.aspx?model=Pavilion%20dv6-3020ee

It's the 3020ee, not ed, but the memory that it needs is the same. Either buy this crucial or print this page and bring it to a store, so you can find the same thing.

    Help!

    Thanks a bunch,

    Marco

It is this first generation machine i7 and is very picky about the memory. It will 8 GB but the correct memory is actually of DDR3-1066 PC3-8500 also known as.

    The modules, PC3 memory, 1066 MHz FSB 4096 MB 579156-001 ■

    http://www.Amazon.com/Corsair-2x4GB-DDR3-laptop-memory/DP/B001UNI80A/ref=sr_1_13?ie=UTF8&QID=1464004322&SR=8-13&keywords=DDR3-1066+so-DIMM

If it's the memory you have installed:

    http://www.MacMall.com/p/Kingston-DIMM-memory/product~dpno~13790966~PDP.baadcedd

It is the high density of 4 black blocks on each side and there are all kinds of documentation of the problems with it on your series model.

The memory must have 8 black blocks per side (low density) to play nice with the RESUME.

  • HP Pavilion dv6 1320ec RAM upgrade

    Hello

    I have HP pavilion dv6 1320ec.

    Product number: VJ715EA

OS: Windows 7 Home Premium (64-bit)

Somewhere on the internet, I found that my laptop can be upgraded up to 8 GB of memory. In the two slots I have 2x2gb

    Type DDR3

    Size 2048 MB
    Hyundai Electronics manufacturer
Band bandwidth Max PC3-8500F (533 MHz)
    Part number HMT125S6BFR8C-G7
    Serial number 1FA2556B
    Week/year 41 / 09

I want to replace the existing memory with 2 x 4 GB, or would work 1 x 8 GB?

I tried to buy it - Crucial 2 x 4 GB DDR3 1333 SO - DIMM (PC10600), but it was not compatible with my laptop (for more memory standard, visit: http://www.czc.cz/crucial-8gb-2x4gb-ddr3-1333-so-dimm/140092/produkt).

If 2 x 4 GB, I would like to know the compatibility of these RAM:

Value of Kingston 4 GB 1333 SODIMM (PC10600); LATENCY CASE 9.

    204-pin DDR3 SO-DIMM;

    higher spec. : http://www.czc.cz/kingston-value-4gb-ddr3-1333-sodimm_3/111282/produkt

    or

System specific 4 GB DDR3 1333 brand Kingston SODIMM HP (PC10666); LATENCY CASE 9.

    204-pin DDR3 SO-DIMM;

    higher spec. : http://www.czc.cz/kingston-system-specific-4gb-ddr3-1333-brand-hp-sodimm/128210/produkt

If the two RAM mentioned are not supported, please recommend me some that would work.

Thank you very mouch for your answers

    Hello:

The memory that you install must have 8 chips of black memory of each side of the PCB, not 4.

    PC3-8500 or PC3-10600

I live in the middle of the United States, so I wouldn't be able to tell you where to buy compatible memory in CZ.

But what you get looks like this...

I use an HP pavilion dv6-3109tu laptop

    Currently I have 3 GB ram (1 + 2).
I use programs like Ansys & solodworks. But the performance is not good.

I think to increase RAM 6 GB or 8 GB. It will be imprpve the performance of the laptop?

What type and how much RAM I have to add my laptop currently has 2 + 1 GB of ram.

    Hi Jayendrapatel,

It is true that a 32 bit OS has a limitation of 4 GB. Limits of memory for Windows and Windows Server. (from msdn.microsoft.com)

I see that you upgraded to Windows 8 pro 32-bit.  If you do not format the recovery partition you may still be able to access and make a recovery to factory. Performing a recovery of system HP (Windows 7)

During the recovery process, you will receive an option to backup your personal files to avoid data loss. If you have not already done one, I suggest you do one now.

Restore files that have been supported to the top using HP Recovery Manager (Windows 7)

If you have formatted the recovery partition, you need to contact HP support and educate yourself on a recovery kit.

  • Pavilion dv6: upgrading RAM for HP Pavilion dv6

    Hello

I want to upgrade the memory of my laptop. It has 4 GB (2x2gb). I want to move to 8 GB or 16 GB, if possible. I found some RAM modules on newegg.com such as this one - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820139976 - I wonder if it will be compatible with my laptop. Here are some features of the system:

-Model: HP Pavilion dv6 Notebook PC

    -Processor: Intel Core i7-2630QM CPU @ 2.00GHz

    -RAM: 4 GB

    -System type: 64-bit operating system

You do not give us the model exactly but dv6 with processors Intel Core gen 2d max to 8 gigs. 3rd and 4th generation can take 16.

The type of memory that you have linked works perfectly... but not the 2 x 4 GB modules, 8 modules of concert. Also note how the picture shows 8 black blocks on the side of the memory... get the modules like this, not with 4 blocks. The speed is correct. DDR3-1333.  Let us know if you need help most.

  • XJ437PA #ACJ: Pavilion DV6 - Audio does not

    Hello

The audio has stopped working in my laptop since these days. It started with the audio does not not intermittently, but he has completely stopped working. I shared my PC specs below:

Product name: HP Pavilion dv6 Notebook PC
    Product number: XJ437PA #ACJ

    Processor name: Intel (r) Core i3 CPU M 370 @ 2.40 GHz (2 400 MHz)

I went through this forum and tried a few things:

    (1) to reinstall the codec IDT high definition

    (2) using the file available in the Recovery Manager

    (3) using the MicrosoftFixit

But the problem is not yet solved.

Can you please provide some suggestions?

    Thank you

    David

    Hi David,

I would suggest you try a slight variation on the first two methods.

Download IDT Audio Installer on the link below and save it in your downloads folder.

    http://ftp.HP.com/pub/SoftPaq/sp47001-47500/sp47393.exe

One time finished, open windows control panel, open Device Manager and open sound, video and game controllers.

Right-click on the Audio display Intel entry and select uninstall - this time check the confirmation box to remove the driver and continue the uninstall.

Then, right-click on the IDT device and select uninstall - for this entry, also check the box confirmation to remove the driver and uninstalling.

    Once completed, restart the laptop.

When windows has reloaded, open your download folder, right click on IDT Installer and select "Run as Administrator" to launch the installation. Once done, restart the laptop.

    Any improvement?

    Best regards
