HP Pavilion dv6-6b78el: HP Pavilion dv6-6b78el HDD SSD upgrade

Hello

I'm interestend in the upgrade of my SSD and HDD to, to do this, I have a question.
First of all to all types of SSD less 2.5 "fit in my laptop? Second question on SSD info, I need to check something on the speed or it wont fit my real compatibility motherboard? Third and last question is about the connector, I saw in my current HARD drive, it is compatible with all types of SSD or I need to check something when you purchase it?

Thank you for your time.

Good day to evryone.

Here is the Service Manual:

Manual

See pages 52 to 54 for the procedure to access the hard disk, remove and replace.

To answer your questions in order: no, your laptop is not compatible with the small mSATA readers that resemble the memory modules. The only type of SSD, you can use is a 2.5 inches wide 7 or 9.5 mm thick SATA SSD. These are the most common type and there is a confusing choice from there. My own go - to SSD is a Samsung 850 Evo:

http://www.Amazon.com/Samsung-2-5-inch-internal-MZ-75E500B-am/DP/B00OBRE5UE/ref=sr_1_2?s=PC&ie=UTF8&QID=1447245247&SR=1-2&keywords=Samsung+850+Evo

You need to check the speed or anything like that or worry about the configuration of the BIOS, if you use Windows 7 or higher. Treat is as a hard drive. The physical package of the reader; in other words, where the connectors and the holes of mounting and the form and the size of the box itself are the same as a hard drive mechanical except that it is likely to be thinner, 7 mm instead of 9.5 mm. He always perfectly fits in the cart or the slot where the old drive.

If you need help for reinstalling software or anything else, after the return.

  • Pavilion 17-e020us: HP Pavilion 17-e020us memory / SSD Upgrade Quesstions

    Hello

I'm looking to upgrade the RAM and hard drive on my laptop HP Pavilion 17-e020us (these are the first updates it will receive).

I have 6 GB of RAM and want to update to the maximum supported by the computer, 8 GB of RAM.  Which model of chip RAM should I buy (in addition to the DDR3L - I know that many), and where can I buy it from?  It will take a 4 GB chip (the computer is 6 GB a 4GB chip and a 2GB chip; I will swap the 2 GB chip for a chip of 4 GB for a total of 8 GB).

I'm also looking to upgrade the hard drive 5400 RPM for a Solid State Drive.  The SSD should be around 500 GB.  Which models are compatible with my laptop and what model do you recommend?  Furthermore, to what extent will be upgraded to SSD my computer speed and performance?

Thanks to all those who help me with that.

    Here is the Service Manual:

    Manual

    See p. 6 and 49 and 54.

The memory can actually be upgraded to 16 gigs. 2 x 8. Upgrade to 8 GB is a good idea, however. For most people, 16 gigs is excessive. 4 correct gig module is the following:

    4 GB (PC3L, 12800, 1600 MHz) 691740-001

    http://www.Amazon.com/HP-691740-001-1600MHz-PC3L-12800-memory/DP/B00CI08FX4

In regards to a SSD, you can install any wide 2.5-inch SATA SSD. I recommend a Samsung Evo 850

    http://www.Amazon.com/Samsung-2-5-inch-internal-MZ-75E250B-am/DP/B00OAJ412U/ref=sr_1_2?s=PC&ie=UTF8&QID=1462103742&SR=1-2&keywords=Evo+850

The amazon link has versions of 250 and 500 and 1 TB. Othe SSDS are cheaper, and I got lucky with OCZ. Stay away from the MX Crucial series.

The difference with the SSD will be day and night. There is no better upgrade of money can buy.

See page 3 of the memory card. It is said 12 GB is the maximum, but we know from experience, you can install 2 x 8 GB in total 16 concerts. No 32 GB. It must be low voltage, and if you already have a single module of 8 GB you want to duplicate its specifications. If it has 8 black blocks on the side, you need to get a module like this.

It is not easy to work on this system. You must remove the top cover to get to the hard drive Bay and remove the motherboard to add RAM. See p. 105 and 116.

Module of memory of 8 GB 693374-005

There's a 16 gig module listed, but it is for AMD laptops with a single location and will not work on your motherboard, even if you could find it.

    https://www.Amazon.com/Kingston-Technology-1600MHz-PC3-12800-KVR16LS11/DP/B00CQ35HBQ/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8 & qid = 1475841671 & SR = 8-1 & Keywords = 693374-005

You can install a type SATA 2.5-inch 1 TB SSD. There is no definitive list brands supported. People sometimes have problems with some specific SSD as some determinative seem to cause problems, but the Evo to Samsung 850 is a good choice with a record few if any questions.

The computer does not know if she is running only Windows or Linux and the RAM or the SSD works with Linux or Windows, or in dual boot. The Linux kernels current used in the current distributions like Ubuntu 16.04 SSD handle very well with a maximum return.

    Post back with more questions.

SSD upgrade will improve the time of startup and overall performance drastically than anything else. SSD boot drive is an excellent choice. Use tools of cloning the SSD manufacturer (from their website) or other free tools available, to migrate the OS.

Download, run this tool to know the SATA HDD type:

SSD now on the market is of SATA3 (6Gbps), it'll work in your laptop your model SATA connector to be I, II or III. They are compatible with reverse.

  • How to replace HP Pavilion 14-v044tx with SSD?

    Dear experts,

I would like to replace HP Pavilion 14-v044tx HDD with SSD, but I can't seem to find SSD compatibility information.

Here are a few questions and I hope that some of you could give advice:

    1. the list of SSD compatibility?

2 may I know if it is compatible with Samsung Evo 840 250 Go?

    3. is there a guide on how to open the laptop?

    4. it will affect my warranty?

    Thanks and receive a response.

    Rgds,

    Sam

    Here is the Manual:

    Manual

Replacement hard drive is on Page 51. The good news is Yes, you can install the Samsung 840 Evo. It is the one I would recommend actually. There is no list because fundamentally, the laptop is compatible with any 2.5 inches wide 7 or 9.5 mm thick SSD or HDD.

The bad news is to replace the average hard drive almost complete disassembly of the laptop. Access to the bottom door exposes that RAM, no hard drive. And Yes, if you're wrong in the process that HP will stand behind the warranty.

  • Pavilion dv6-2010sa Notebook: RAM upgrade

My HP Pavilion dv6 is really slow (especially when you use the internet with more than a couple of tabs open. I did a full audit of viruses, spyware, etc. - all clean. However, when I checked the system I have only 3 GB of RAM (2.75 usable).

Increase the RAM would make a significant difference and if so what is the maximum I should buy (which would be effective)? It would also be very helpful if you can give advice if I should run extra RAM with what I already have or if I have to replace it. Finally, if you could tell me the name of the RAM should I buy and where can I buy it.

    Thanks in advance.

    Ben

It will run up to 8 GB of RAM. This is the laptop DDR2-800 memory. This video shows the replacement of hard disk and memory so just pay attention to memory:

    https://www.YouTube.com/watch?v=koynICXjbzI

DDR2 is very expensive. Here's the manual for your dv6:

    Manual

Here is the Kingston showing page guaranteed compatible RAM:

    http://www.crucial.com/USA/en/compatible-upgrade-for/HP-Compaq/Pavilion-DV6-2010sa

As you can see, 8 GB is well over $200. Personally, because I'm cheap, I would buy a single module of 2 gig and increase the total RAM of 4 GB or, to be sure it works with maximum efficiency, buy a 4 GB kit if you have 2 identical bars. A 4 GB kit is 'only' $ 56, and it is a reasonable investment. 4 concerts will be significantly better than 3. You might also think of a reinstallation of the operating system. Computers a naturally slow down with age that the registry fills up with junk. There are a few settings, you can clean up the start menu and other things less an OS reinstall.

  • Support SATA + HP Pavilion dv6-6b55sg SSD upgrade

    Dear all,

I would like to have 2 questions please:

    1.

I have a HP Pavilion dv6-6b55sg, and I couldn't find what SATA support it?

Need S - ATA III (600 MB/s), or just SATA II?

The reason I ask because I want to replace my SSD HARD drive and this info is important.

    2.

What SSD would you recommend for this particular laptop.

According to the answer to the #1 question,.

I think about to buy a

Vector OCZ SATA III 2.5 "SSD 128GB

    Would you recommend it?

    See you soon

    Hello:

I can answer your first question.

The drive of your laptop supports SATA III drives.

Here is the link to the specifications of the chipset for the chipset of your laptop:

    http://www.Intel.com/content/www/us/en/chipsets/value-chipsets/mobile-chipset-HM65.html

Only, I bought an SSD and it was a 330 Intel, so I can't make recommendations for you.

If it were me, I'd get the 335 Intel, but this is only what I would do.

  • HP Pavilion dv6 - 6119tx HARD drive upgrade question

    Hi all

I have a HP Pavilion dv6 - 6119 notebook tx. I am facing a SMART hard disk error and I need to replace it with a new hard drive. It currently has a capacity of 640 GB 5400 RPM HDD Toshiba. All I want to know is can I replace it with a 1 TB hard drive, 7200 RPM (with SATA 6.0 GB/s)? May be I have to 5400 RPM (with SATA 3.0 Gbit/s)?

    Hi kiranmanju

After some reading on this subject, I think I'll go with MistaB.

SSDS and hard drives are treated in the same way by the operating system, and they are easily interchangeable. So no, you shouldn't have any problems during the installation of a faster 7200 RPM drive to replace your current drive to 5400 RPM.

There are only a few things you need to know when buying a compatible disc:
    (A) interface: the vast majority of readers is SATA, and it is what you need
    (B) 2.5 "or 3.5": the first is for laptops, the latter is for desktop computers
    (C) drive height: most of the hard drives 2.5 "are 9.5 mm, and it's what fits most laptops. Some high-capacity drives are 12.5 mm

Other than that, the rest of the variables are related to performance.

but I can't guarantee anything of it now. I don't really know why then the user's Guide for your product just omitted part of 7200 RPM if they do not harm anyway. I recommend that contact HP technical support for more details.

    Salvation;

I'm looking for models of cart, and I wonder what kind of shopping carts are compatible with my laptop. There is difference between the models milimeter. I don't know if it's only important variable dough. Awaiting your response

    with regards to the King.

I will warn that generally placing a SSD in an optical drive caddy is not a good idea. The interface for the optical drive is different and slower than the interface for the main hard drive. This means that the additional cost of an SSD will be wasted if you put in that kind of caddy. You're better off putting a standard mechanical drive in the optical caddy because it will run just as fast as an SSD or very close to him.

That said, the caddy you want is this:

    https://www.jacobsparts.com/items/HDDBAY-01/

It is a 12.7 mm optical drive if you need a shopping cart of 12.7 mm, which will hold a 9.5 mm or 7 mm hard/SSD drive.
