Support SATA + HP Pavilion dv6-6b55sg SSD upgrade

Dear all,

I would like to have 2 questions please:

1.

I have a HP Pavilion dv6-6b55sg, and I couldn't find what SATA support it?

Need S - ATA III (600 MB/s), or just SATA II?

The reason I ask because I want to replace my SSD HARD drive and this info is important.

2.

What SSD would you recommend for this particular laptop.

According to the answer to the #1 question,.

I think about to buy a

Vector OCZ SATA III 2.5 "SSD 128GB

Would you recommend it?

See you soon

Hello:

I can answer your first question.

The drive of your laptop supports SATA III drives.

Here is the link to the specifications of the chipset for the chipset of your laptop:

http://www.Intel.com/content/www/us/en/chipsets/value-chipsets/mobile-chipset-HM65.html

Only, I bought an SSD and it was a 330 Intel, so I can't make recommendations for you.

If it were me, I'd get the 335 Intel, but this is only what I would do.

    Hello

Basically, you can, with a cost, and I think that this cost can be more expensive than buying a new computer because you have to take into account:

    • New price of the card, and WHERE you can buy it because the laptop cards are not the same office maps. You can't buy any normal store,
    • Need new card system (Yes),
    • Need new system of cooling because in general more powerful card pumps out more heat (you want more powerful card don't you?).
    • May need new power supply because your current diet is not suitbale for the card. (I ordered a machine with the Nvidia card and I need to order a 90W charger at the same time, not the normal charger 65W. They rejected just my order.)
    • Cost of the work.
    • Packages a lot, a lot of aspirin.

It can be cheaper to buy a new machine.

    I hope this helps.

  • HP Pavilion DV6 6053ea - SSD SATA III HARD disk? & HARD drive space gone?

    Hello

I have a HP Pavilion DV6 6053ea. It works fairly well, but I think I have an SSD would really speed up the loading of programs and start etc. I'm not so sure that the upgrade. I read on a thread if I had Port SATA 1 6 Gbps Supported or SATA Port 0 6 Gbps then my cell phone was good for SATA III. Is this the case? Joined a program hwinfo32 image, can you check if my phone would support SATA III?

The other issue is my HD. My laptop says I have 750GB HD coming to about 700 GB after formatting. But my laptop seems to have only a total of 350 GB with all sectors added together. Where is the space?

    Hello

Yes, your laptop has 2 ports SATA 6 GB/s (SATA III) most likely the hard drive and an optical drive are connected on it. There are also 2 SATA 3Gbps ports but not in use, I guess.

The other issue is that there are 4 partitions but the partition 0 is strange and shouldn't be there. There should be a small boot for Windows partition (for BitLocker etc.), drive C: with Windows, D: drive with a partition recovery and partition Tools HP QuickWeb and some diagnostic utilities. It seems that the recovery partition is missing, the C: drive has been decreased and then created a small partition at the beginning of the hard disk. Take a look at disk management in administrative tools in the control panel this partitioning is on the hard drive.

    Hey @Ajijawi,

Thank you for visiting the HP Forums! A place where you can find solutions for your problems with the help of the community!

I came across your post on the HP Pavilion dv6 - 1255ee Entertainment Notebook and eager to replace the hard drive of 9.5 mm or increase the RAM. Even if it could adapt to the Notebook ok. Queues screws could be different. Here is a link to your service manual page 69 for the hard card. I would really check this before buying new HARD drive. You may need to change so it does not move. The 500 GB SATA 6 GB/s SSD internal SSD 2.5 "would work for this model of laptop including that you have an AMD System.

This laptop supports up to 8 GB memory system DDR2, 800 MHz, PC2-6400, page 1-DIMM 32 of the manual above.

    I hope this helps.

    Thank you.

    Hello @Elbrus,

    Welcome to the HP Forums!

I read your message and understand that you are trying to upgrade the drive in your computer, HP Pavilion dv6-2145er. I have searched and have met the maintenance and care guide. It will help you with that which is compatible with your laptop. If a computer supports SATA SSD should work as long as it brings together the same or more memory than the original drive.

Maintenance and Service Guide lists every mother/System Board for each model of videocard (on page 85). This means that the video card is welded to the motherborad. Therefore, you must buy the whole and it may cost much more than your thinking.

    Hello:

The chipset of your laptop can run sata hard drives in sata II (3.0 Gbps) of speed.

There is no mothers in option for your model that supports SATA III drives.

You need a notebook model dv6t-6xxx or newer for that.

The high processor upgrade possible, without changing the Board of Directors is 2640M i7 dual core (HP 666173-001 part number). Not much of a performance gain.

If you want to upgrade to QuadCore i7 (i7 quad core 2860QM), you have to replace the Board of Directors. It'll be better buying a new laptop with the better than going to this costly upgrade card.

  • Pavilion 15 p204tx: SSD upgrade query

    Hello

I was thinking about upgrading to an SSD in order to improve the overall performance of my laptop. Before I go ahead and buy no matter what material, I want to assure you that it works correctly on my device.
My cell phone is compatible with SATA 3? And here any possiblitly of add me my SSD without having to remove my existing HARD drive? And also, how can I reinstall Windows 10 on my SSD?

I thought the UV300 Kingston SSD. I would appreciate if you coulf tell me if this works well on my device.

    Thanks in advance!

    Here is the Service Manual:

    Manual

You want to study pages 70-78. The hard drive is accessible only after removing the top cover which is something that you must have a technical ability to do. Keep organized and right screws and separate the two halves of the laptop plastic is not easy to do it correctly. And it will be jepoardize you have left any guarantee.

The manual says there is a slot of the WSSD m2 which means in theory, you could add an SSD, the kind of "gumstick" and keep the existing hard drive. It is more of a technical challenge, as it requires the removal of the motherboard.

Don't sweat the thing 2/SATA SATA 3. Your laptop supports SATA 3, but that is not the question.  The SSD you mentioned will work very well in place of the hard drive. 10 downloadable just Microsoft Windows with the media creation tool which you can find by Google. Do the drive carrier bootable for installing Windows 10 inch. Microsoft servers know your computer and it will activate only first time connect you to the internet without needing a key Code. All the drivers are stored on the old hard drive, or can be downloaded here. Windows 10 also has the ability to make an image of the system, then you can just copy over your existing installation of Windows, your applications and your data to the new SSD if you also had an external usb drive large enough to hold the image. Return ticket for details you want on this process.

  • HP Pavilion dv6 1320ec RAM upgrade

    Hello

    I have HP pavilion dv6 1320ec.

    Product number: VJ715EA

OS: Windows 7 Home Premium (64-bit)

Somewhere on the internet, I found that my laptop can be upgraded up to 8 GB of memory. In the two slots I have 2x2gb

    Type DDR3

    Size 2048 MB
    Hyundai Electronics manufacturer
Band bandwidth Max PC3-8500F (533 MHz)
    Part number HMT125S6BFR8C-G7
    Serial number 1FA2556B
    Week/year 41 / 09

I want to replace the existing memory with 2 x 4 GB, or would work 1 x 8 GB?

I tried to buy it - Crucial 2 x 4 GB DDR3 1333 SO - DIMM (PC10600), but it was not compatible with my laptop (for more memory standard, visit: http://www.czc.cz/crucial-8gb-2x4gb-ddr3-1333-so-dimm/140092/produkt).

If 2 x 4 GB, I would like to know the compatibility of these RAM:

Value of Kingston 4 GB 1333 SODIMM (PC10600); LATENCY CASE 9.

    204-pin DDR3 SO-DIMM;

    higher spec. : http://www.czc.cz/kingston-value-4gb-ddr3-1333-sodimm_3/111282/produkt

    or

    higher spec. : http://www.czc.cz/kingston-system-specific-4gb-ddr3-1333-brand-hp-sodimm/128210/produkt

If the two RAM mentioned are not supported, please recommend me some that would work.

Thank you very mouch for your answers

    Hello:

The memory that you install must have 8 chips of black memory of each side of the PCB, not 4.

    PC3-8500 or PC3-10600

I live in the middle of the United States, so I wouldn't be able to tell you where to buy compatible memory in CZ.

But what you get looks like this...

It is true that a 32 bit OS has a limitation of 4 GB. Limits of memory for Windows and Windows Server. (from msdn.microsoft.com)
