HP Pavilion dv6 Windows 7 Media Smart question

Hello

I can't open the photos option in my Media Smart.

He opened and allowed me to import photos 2, then I got a message that my Media Smart is not responding.  After a minute or two, the program closed.  When I went to reopen the photo, he has opened, but the elements I imported were not there.  I close Media Smart and reopened, nothing happened.   Then I rebooted my laptop computer and tried, nothing.  I tried the other options (TV, music, video, DVD, WebCam) and they opened.

That's happened?

  • HHD has failed and needs to be replaced on my out of warranty Pavilion DV6 (Windows Vista)

I have a laptop DV6 Pavilion running Windows Vista that I bought in 2009.  I realize that is no longer under warranty HP so I have to pay for any changes or corrections to this computer.

Earlier this week, the hard drive (the one included with the computer) failed with error 03f0. It is my understanding that this error is a fatal error and the drive is essentially 'toast '... Unfortunately, I do NOT have a backup of the image of that hard drive. I have just the recovery disks that I created when I got to the computer originally.  I quite like this computer I would try out running back (if possible) without having to spend a LOT of money. In my simple mind how how I get this computer running and upward would buy/install a compatible replacement hard drive and boot the system with the recovery discs. Unfortunately, I think my plan is simply probably naïve and I probably need to do other things. So I need some advice before you start this process and possibly wasting my time and money.

I need answers to some of these questions:

-Will it record Windows/Vista OS and more recovery disks to get the computer running with a new hard drive?

-If I need Windows OS disc, can I go directly to Windows/8?  OR do I need start with Windows Vista and then upgrade to Windows/8 later?  Use recovery discs and all Windows operating system? OR I can get running with just the disks in the Windows operating system?

-If I can get the hard drive and Windows operating system loaded, I guess I need HP drivers, etc... Does it mean that I have to get the disks from HP's Windows operating system or can I get it from Microsoft or Amazon and download the drivers from HP later?

Thanks to anyone who can help me here for advice! It will save me a LOT of time and money.

  • HP Pavilion dv6 - 6119tx HARD drive upgrade question

    Hi all

I have a HP Pavilion dv6 - 6119 notebook tx. I am facing a SMART hard disk error and I need to replace it with a new hard drive. It currently has a capacity of 640 GB 5400 RPM HDD Toshiba. All I want to know is can I replace it with a 1 TB hard drive, 7200 RPM (with SATA 6.0 GB/s)? May be I have to 5400 RPM (with SATA 3.0 Gbit/s)?

    Hi kiranmanju

After some reading on this subject, I think I'll go with MistaB.

SSDS and hard drives are treated in the same way by the operating system, and they are easily interchangeable. So no, you shouldn't have any problems during the installation of a faster 7200 RPM drive to replace your current drive to 5400 RPM.

There are only a few things you need to know when buying a compatible disc:
    (A) interface: the vast majority of readers is SATA, and it is what you need
    (B) 2.5 "or 3.5": the first is for laptops, the latter is for desktop computers
    (C) drive height: most of the hard drives 2.5 "are 9.5 mm, and it's what fits most laptops. Some high-capacity drives are 12.5 mm

Other than that, the rest of the variables are related to performance.

but I can't guarantee anything of it now. I don't really know why then the user's Guide for your product just omitted part of 7200 RPM if they do not harm anyway. I recommend that contact HP technical support for more details.

  • HP Pavilion DV6: Windows update search in infinite loop - works is not in Windows 7

    Hello

I reinstalled a fresh copy of Windows 7 Premium Edition on a HP Pavilion DV6 laptop after changing the hard drive failed. My first attempt at the time. After installing all the drivers I could find on the site of HP, I was up and running, but done Windows Update always looking. I tried all the advice, suggestions and driver downloads, I read it, but nothing works. Windows Update Standalone Installer cycles constantly as well. Almost everything I download to fix this problems requires stand-alone Windows Installer for installation. Coincidentally, Windows Defender does not update either.  Can someone help this newbie? I appreciate your help.

Now that I've learned, I can get Windows 10 free on it. Launch day came and the app get Windows 10 indicates the graphics card is not compatible because NVidia has not done yet. I checked the NVidia website and they said to come to support OEM site. HP support site has not updated drivers. Y at - it somewhere that I can get the proper drivers if they exist?

I want to reinstall the xp of plant origin, but I do not have a CD. I have the original product key. Is this possible?

Yes.  It can be done very easily if the Recovery Partition is still there as a D: in 'My Computer' or 'computer '.

If this is not available, then use Recovery Disk set when the PC was new or order a set of Surgeons of the COMPUTER.

Enter the model number in the search box.

Several times using a Windows 7 installation dvd solves these problems. Until a couple of months, you can download an ISO to make a Windows 7 disc and I often recommemded that as a solution. Unfortunately deleted Microsoft Access to those files unless you have a retail license key. I don't know of any other place to download an iso without danger, so the only solution is to buy Windows 7 If you do not have a friend with a disk to use for the installation which you would activate using license key OEM on the label attached to the bottom of your laptop.

  • HP pavilion dv6103nr, windows xp media center edition, recovery

I get this error message "Windows is not start because the following file is missing or corrupt...". Please reinstall a copy of the above file' the file name changed after I tried a system restore and is currently \system32.hal.dll I tried several different things, but I'm still stuck on this black error screen, and windows does not start.  At the end of the day, I just want to get to all the photos on my old laptop that I'm kicking myself for not backup

My 10 year daughter, was the last who has used the laptop and said that she was just using ms word.

Here's what I've tried so far.

    Hard reset

You press f10 to access the PhoenixBIOS Setup utility.  A go from there ran a "first hard drive Self Test" this reported success, but still does not start correctly

You press f11 go to the "restoration of the PC" (I think that I created years recovery disks when I bought the laptop, but have no idea where they are) went in the advanced-> Windows System Restore Options.  That said it needs to restart and brings back me to the black screen

You press f11 to go to the recovery of the PC again.  This time only used the default value and click Next.  Apparently this default option does not remove the data files on the pc.  This lasted about an hour, rebooted and took back me to the black screen but with another missing file. Don't you remember what was the last file.

Any ideas on what to try next?  Maybe I should find a way to connect to the hard drive without the laptop?  Thank you very much.

I promised myself now not to delete images from my camera memory card/photo until I supported the up... twice

    Hello:

I think you have to remove the HARD drive and put it in an external USB box to get the data out of it.

If you try a system recovery, it would erase all files and restore the system as the day it left the factory.

Something like that would be what you need for the portable player SATA that your PC comes with.

Then just plug it into another PC and copy your files off the power.

I doubt you'll get up to start the laptop.

Once you get the data out, and if you do not find the recovery discs, you did, you can get factory HP recovery of this 3rd third-party disks.

  • HP Pavilion dv6 + Windows 7-1, 3 USB ports does not...

Hi everyone, newbie here. I just bought a display model at a price great release. The USB port at the right angle does not work. No distortion of contacts or visible damage. Player flash & mouse receiver wireless work in other 2 ports, but no devices work in that port. I tried update autopilot day & toggle without result. Any suggestions greatly appreciated.

I guess you have tried to turn the port is displayed correctly in Device Manager.  If so, it looks a likely the hardware failure.  To check the connection to the port would require some, maybe a lot of disassembly.

Thanks for your reply. I had a hunch, got brave, & er opened carefully. It turns out that the Ribbon came out somehow aft of the port. I plugged back it it & all is well.

After updating my Pavilion dv6 Windows 7 64 - bit of Windows 10 64 - bits, the connection to the computer to update resulted in a machine stuck with white (gray) screen. The upgrade seems complete without any problems. It is only after a reboot with the machine being upgraded and after entering the password that the lock status was encountered.

I have a DV6 and after many hardships, restored to Win7 because I felt that an older OS where everything worked was much higher than a more recent OS where many things were "broken."

And there is no driver HP Win10 for the DV6.
