HP Pavilion DV6235 (US): HP Pavilion DV6235 (US) hard drive upgrade Question...

Should not a problem. You need to do some kind of recovery or backup support to put the software on the new drive, but if not just physically put in the place where the old hard disk, boot and install your software for it.

Looks like a lot of investment in very old hardware. Still, it should make it faster.

    Hi all

I have a HP Pavilion dv6 - 6119 notebook tx. I am facing a SMART hard disk error and I need to replace it with a new hard drive. It currently has a capacity of 640 GB 5400 RPM HDD Toshiba. All I want to know is can I replace it with a 1 TB hard drive, 7200 RPM (with SATA 6.0 GB/s)? May be I have to 5400 RPM (with SATA 3.0 Gbit/s)?

    Hi kiranmanju

After some reading on this subject, I think I'll go with MistaB.

SSDS and hard drives are treated in the same way by the operating system, and they are easily interchangeable. So no, you shouldn't have any problems during the installation of a faster 7200 RPM drive to replace your current drive to 5400 RPM.

There are only a few things you need to know when buying a compatible disc:
    (A) interface: the vast majority of readers is SATA, and it is what you need
    (B) 2.5 "or 3.5": the first is for laptops, the latter is for desktop computers
    (C) drive height: most of the hard drives 2.5 "are 9.5 mm, and it's what fits most laptops. Some high-capacity drives are 12.5 mm

Other than that, the rest of the variables are related to performance.

but I can't guarantee anything of it now. I don't really know why then the user's Guide for your product just omitted part of 7200 RPM if they do not harm anyway. I recommend that contact HP technical support for more details.

    Thank you

  • Pavilion 15 t-n200 CTO: memory/hard drive upgrade question

Hi demand an upgrade memory or hard drive.

    System:

    Pavilion 15 t-n200 CTO

    model: E9Z19AV

    Intel core i3-4005u 1.70 ghz

    4 GB mem

    64 bit

Fact check on memory sytem and it says:

    1600 mhz DDR3

Seen a refrence on another site that said for 4th gen proc to use DDR3L... so don't know which one to use.

    Hard drive:

I was wondering if this unit can use an SSD?

    Thanks for your comments

    Hello

The link below is the manual of your device

    http://h10032.www1.HP.com/CTG/manual/c04438537

Supports up to 12 GB of memory system max (module DDR3L 1600 MHz), (Page 2)

For hard disks according to the manuals, I don't see that it supports standalone SSD.

  • Pavilion 15 ab128na: hard drive upgrade from the Pavilion 15-ab128na

    Hello

I am buying a laptop computer ab128na Pavilion 15 and wanted to know about upgrade capabilities.

It comes with a disc of M.2 256 GB SSD but it maybe a bit small. Is there room for an additional HARD disk drive (such as the gaming notebook pavilion)? So I, for example, M.2 256 GB SSD drive and a 1 TB HARD drive.

Or the model allows only for 1 hard drive, so I have to replace the SSD drive, it comes with a larger capacity SSD?

    Thanks in advance

    Here is the Service Manual:

    Manual

This manual explains Star Wars Edition and the 15-ab128na sharing the same internals with this model.

The problem is if your laptop comes with just the MSSD m2 I don't think they understand the mounting kit for a 2.5-inch hard drive. You must purchase the part on the secondary market in some way.

Kit hardware hard drive (supports and connector) 809296-001

    http://www.eBay.com/ITM/809296-001-HP-15-AB027CL-hard-drive-caddy-Kit-grade-A-/171992018156?hash=item280b85ecec:g:2SgAAOSw7hRWPoW0

In addition, access to the hard drive Bay is a bit of a chore and put security at risk.

But to directly answer your question, the laptop is designed to have a m2 and the SATA 2.5 inch disk at the same time.

You could also install a HDD as pure storage using the slot of the DVD drive with an adapter. Of course, you lose the optical drive but I find myself with mine very rarely these days, anyway. Use of this Bay, the warranty will not be affected.

  • HP Pavilion dv6000 Hard Drive Upgrade Question

I have a HP Pavilion dv6500 entertainment computer laptop, processor Intel centrino duo and 2 GB Ram under Vista. The original 160 HD SATA Gbt completes and slow and I want to upgrade to a new HD. I think I have a Seagate 1 TB 2.5 inch notebook computer Solid State Hybrid Drive. Will be of this form and it works without any problem on this laptop? What is a recommended option?

    Your advice would be appreciated.

    Hi @Chris_8318,

Thank you for visiting the HP Forums! A place where you can find solutions for your problems with the help of the community!

I stumbled upon your post on the laptop and wanted to help you! I looked in your question about your HP Pavilion dv6500 Entertainment of CTO Notebook and concerns with the installation of a hard drive again. If you keep the new larger than your original SSD and it supports Sata 5400 RPM 9.5 mm, 2.5-inch hard drives, you'll have no problems.

Here is a link to your manual page 23 for specifications.

Please let me know how it goes.

    Thank you.

  • Pavilion DV6-1333sa hard drive upgrade.

I want to spend 320 GB sata hard drive 7200 rpm on my pavillion DV6-1333sa.

I would like to replace it with a hard disk of 1 TB sata 7200 RPM.

I was looking around and I was wondering what drives would be compatible.

I noticed that there are versions of 2.5 and 3.5 inches and there are also SATA II and SATA III.

This Seagate hard drive is the one I was considering. (google for more information)

Seagate 1 TB 3.5 inch 7200 RPM 64 MB Cache hard drive SATA3

I found it at a very reasonable price, but I was wondering if it would be compatible and how it would be to transfer my entire system on it and install it.

    Any help would be welcome.

    Thanks in advance.

    Hello

You must use the computer portable HARD drive which is 2.5 ". The 3.5 "HARD drive you mentioned above does not physically. HARD drives for laptops are more expensive than HARD drives for desktop computers. You can use something like one of the following:

They are SATA III but will be compatible with SATA II.

This post pretty much answers your question, too:

However, the hard drive on your model is much easier to go to:

    Repair manuals

    Page 49.

I recommend the Samsung 840 Evo SSD. The price is usually very good and performance is also very good.

I found the other G6 drives with different model numbers, now I know that I certainly need the model number to order the Pack recovery but on the hard drive. It is somehow specific model number or can I use a hard drive from a 1B79dx of G6 G6 model number or any other g6 also. I'm new on this and do not want to buy something I can't use and have not been able to find clear information, I'm looking for. Any help is appreciated!

    Hello

Basically you can use any standard laptop HARD drive. But please use Hitachi or Toshiba. HP machines use Toshiba HDD much. You don't need special HARD drive to your machine.

  • Pavilion p6-2330: hard drive for the error message failure

I need to know what to do in response to: "short hard drive DST-Failed", failure ID: 60E3KV - 0007Q 9 - WPTXOK - 60QD03 on a desktop pavilion p6-2330.

When the computer is turned on, it presents a loop; try to solve the problem, but unable to do so.

The memory test is 'spent '.

SMART hard disk check is 'passed '.

    Thank you.

    Hello.

This 24 character of error codes when generated from the HARD drive test indicates a Smart failure or disk Self Test - in both cases, this means that the drive is defective and must be replaced.

You always have access to the data stored on the disk? If you do, then save as much information as possible and look for a replacement drive. If the product is still under warranty, you can contact support, but in case you have no guarantee and you would like a guide to replacing the hard drive yourself – please let me know.

I hope this helps and good luck!

  • Pavilion 15-n211dx: Hp Pavilion 15-n211dx hard drive problems

    Hello

Last March, I bought a Hp Pavilion n211dx-15 and 9 months after I bought it, I had some problems with the RAM because of my eletricity, but I already bought a new pair of ram sticks. I tried to do the system recovery Image minimized by myself because I didn't know it was a problem of ram, in the middle of the installation, the computer froze and the pixels have been going nuts. In any case, when I had the fixed ram, I started the computer and I saw that I had altogether 90 GB of HARD disk space (it comes with a 750 GB HARD drive), the windows installation is fine and all, but my HDD shows that 90GB total and the computer comes with a 750 GB HARD drive , I do not have what to do (if I have to install stuff and HARD drive drivers).

    Thank you

  • HP Pavilion 6653w "imminent hard drive failure! "Backup and replace. Questions.

Hello, I have a HP Pavilion 6653w with Windows 7 Home Premium desktop computer.   It is 4 to 6 years old.  Recently, when I start it, I get a message "imminent hard disk failure!  Please save and replace as soon as possible."  I've never had to replace a hard drive before, so I have some questions:

1 should. what type of disc do I replace - be of the same type that I have now?  (Hitachi, 1 TB).   Is there a list somewhere that shows which drives are not suitable for my computer?

2 - is a mechanically inclined person (my husband) could do at home, or that it does not require a professional?  My husband has replaced a front memory card, we just request if it is similar to the one in trouble?

    Thank you!

This link will take you to a document on the withdrawal and the replacement of a hard drive on a HP or Compaq desktop computer.  If it is not identical to your case, it will be a little similar.  The point is, that it is not terribly difficult; This is something you might be able to tackle yourself, or with a friend who has some experience with computers.

    I hope this helps.

  • Upgading A Pavilion Elite HPE hard drive

First off let me thank the guy who responds to this advance. It may be a few days before I have the chance again. Sometimes the unknown Warrior keyboard deserves a bit more then they get lol. So, thank you.

I have a HP Pavilion Elite HPE. I just took my first slap to upgrade certain hardware and now I have a FEVER. I should have noted some things while I was there, but I was a little excited to get it working again. I noticed a few differences in my template to the list for the Pavilion Elite HPE, I found this site, but I should be able to answer your questions with a quick glance to see if it's right. HP presents my motherboard as "MS-7613 (lona-GL8E)" but I'm sure that my Board is a Foxconn version 1.01 Aloe with a 3.0 GHz AMD Phenom II x 4 processor.

Then. Here's my question, can I put my 1 TB harddrive to two 2 TB drives? And you have any recommendations on which hard drive I use? I'm new at this and so I don't know I might miss information on this for you, but I think I can answer your questions on hard/software that I use.

    Thanks, Escar Frazzle.
