  • How do uninstall you windows xp edition that has been installed on xp pro media center?

I want to uninstall windows xp media center edition because I think it's slowing down my computer and the computer unable to multitask. It was installed on xp pro. Any help would be appreciated. Thank you.

    Hi KirkStratton,

You cannot uninstall Windows Media Center, it is an integral part of the operating system. You can stop the process of Media Center to run. After you have upgraded in the only way that you could go back to the previous version of Windows would be to perform a clean installation.

    Follow these steps:

    (a) open the menu 'Start', then click on 'Control Panel'.

    (b) click on add or remove programs. Click on "access to default values and selection programs."

    (c) click on 'continue' and check the "Custom" in the menu drop-down box.

    (d) scroll down to the "Choose default Media Player" section.

    (e) uncheck the box that says "enable access to this program" next to 'Windows Media Center'. Click OK.

  • Pavilion new hard drive XP Media Center Edition 2005, won't boot from the system recovery disks

Hi, I'm trying to replace the hard drive in Pavilion a1620n a member of the family with XP Media Center Edition 2005 where the original Samsung SP2504C HDD failed.  I HAVE the original recovery discs 1 and 2 system and additional recovery disk supplied with the PC but the problem seems to be that I can't get the PC to boot from them to start the recovery process.  I installed a new Western Digital 500 GB HARD drive.  The BIOS recognizes it is installed (as well as the existing DVD - RW drive) and drive past the on-board CHIP support tests.  I tried using the Boot Menu ESC to select the DVD - RW Drive as the first Boot device, as well as the tab Boot Setup of BIOS F1 to set the 1st boot CD-ROM device group and other people with disabilities.  After reboot, the drive of DVD - RW turns on for about 2 seconds, then turns off and the display shows "DISK BOOT FAILURE", INSERT SYSTEM DISK AND press ENTER.  I thought maybe I needed a kind of bootable CD boot disk to format the drive first, so I tried a BACK 6.22 bootable CD and a bootable CD of MEMTEST, that work on the other PC, but I get the same message "DISK BOOT... "on this one.  My next idea would be to try to host the new drive on another PC and copy the files on it recovery disk... but is it really necessary?  If the own PC system recovery CD should not be able to... Recover?

It seems to me that the ligthscribe drive has a problem.  Replace the disk and it may be OK after that.  On a PC so old, it is probably an IDE drive, but check first.

  • Pro Media Center of Windows 8 license is not triggered. How can I make it back to Windows 8 Pro license

I received a free upgrade license for Windows 8 Pro with Media Center, at the time where they offered.

I have not noticed that the license is good if active before a date which has since long (a few times in February). The license has been accepted at the entrance and the Media Center software installed, when I went to add new features to Windows 8 (I had already updated the machine to Windows 8 Pro.

In fact, I don't want to buy the upgrade at this point. How can I make the license back to the old key... which of course, now I can't see.  I bought several upgrades, and you have not installed all, so I don't know how many of those I've not used on other machines upgrade is the one I used on this one.

    Thank you

  • Missing drivers for HP Media Center PC m380n

I recently had to reformat and install XP SP2 on this computer, but before that I had downloaded all the drivers for this model. Well, after installing all the drivers, I have still 3 devices that need drivers. This computer is right to the store and nothing has been added hardware wise so I don't know what are these devices or what that drivers pick up. 3 devices are named as follows:

    Multimedia controller

    Multimedia video controller

    Network controller

I would add that although the computer recognises my WiFi and connects with her, I can't access the internet so this is perhaps due to the problem of controller Lan.

    Any ideas what I'm missing?

I don't know what is happening. I have not connected to my wireless router, no problem but he wouldn't get a network ID, then said there is no network to connect to. I'm about to give up this computer and buld one of my own.

Update: I restarted the computer and now I have the internet connection. I then tried to install the Asus TV Tuner and this time it installed. Now, everything is good and all drivers are installed. I don't know why some drivers wouldn't install before but at least everything works now.

I want to thank everyone for help me and guide me to the correct drivers. It seems that some of the drivers that are in the HP section for this computer are not good, but you guys gave me good.

I had problems with my laptop and decided to reformat the hard drive and reinstall Windows.  I discovered during the installation that I need a disc 2 for a complete installation.  Since the operating system is installed on my laptop, I was not aware of this and have either lost or never had a disc 2.

Do you know where I can get/download a copy of any disk 2?

  • Re-installed Windows XP Media Center Edition and now I can't turn it on with my product key.

I REINSTALL XP MEDIA CENTER EDITION

AND I GOT A FEW SCRACHES ON DISK. SO I REPAIRED THE INSTALLATION WITH XP PRO. NOW I CAN'T ACTIVATE WINDOWS TO ALL THE... WHAT CAN I DO TO FIX THIS?

original title: REINSTALLED XP MEDIA CENTER EDITION, HAD A GLITCH AND USED XP PRO FOR INSTALLATION of REPAIR, NOW I can NOT turn ON WINDOWS

Upgrade installing XP Pro Media Center of in the Windows environment.  Just start the installation of XP Pro computer and then insert your Media Center CD in the CD-ROM drive and upgrade the installation, provide the Media Center product key when you are prompted.  If this fails, you will need to install from a flat folder, post again if the upgrade fails and we can give you the flat installation instructions.

  • would buy windows xp media center os disk

I have an old HP Media Center. I would like to know where I can buy a windows xp pro media center os install disc?

    Hi JohnClarkYE,

-Do you have a laptop or a desktop computer?
-Was it an Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) installation?

If so, you should contact the manufacturer to get a CD of the operating system (OS).
    For more information, see:

If not, here is a link that you have to visit to buy the CD of the OS:
  • Windows XP (HP Media Center PC) immediately "OFF... slaughter." "at startup

I own a HP Pavilion a1240n running Windows XP Media Center Edition.  From two days ago, I can't connect to my computer.

    Symptoms:

Turn on the computer.  It starts normally and gets to the "Log to Windows" window  (The user name is HP_Administrator we never took the trouble to implement specific user accounts.)  I hit "Enter" as we do not have a password on our computer.

The screen flashes and the box "loading your personal settings...". "appears for about 1/2 of a second.  Our wallpaper opens.  Then, immediately, "Off record" box... "is displayed.  A second later, I am back to the "Journal of Windows" window.

Someone suggested that they think that my computer is infected with the Win32/Cryptor virus and I should get my AV software and run it.  Unfortunately, I can't, because I can't even log.

  • What version of Windows to get Windows media center included?

I'm going to buy a new machine and I wanted to know what is the best version of Windows to get installed that includes Windows media Center?

    Thank you

Microsoft does not Media Center Windows 10 to be released
later this year, so everything you buy with Windows Pro 8.1 with Media Center, or
Windows 8.1Pro more than one $10.00 go to Media Center or Windows 8.1 for $ 100
upgrade to Pro + Media Center is a machine, to that you will not be able to upgrade
Windows 10 If you want that Media Center.

There has not been a team of dev to Media Center for some time. Ms. believes that it is
    dead.

My advice to you is to seek alternatives such as XBMC, etc to replace your
    Media Center needs.
