HP Pavilion dv7-6110sl second HDD

I have HP Pavilion dv7-6110sl and what to add another 1 TB HARD disk. What should I put in? I noticed the original HARD drive is attached with some kind of adapter SATA. I guess that this kind of adapter I need for second HARD drive.

Can anyone tell if I am right and where to get this card?

Hello

You need a kit that you can buy at HP ($$$) or that, ask for longer cable:

  • HP Pavilion dv7-4180ea second hard drive

I recently bought a HP Pavilion dv7-4180ea (XE274EA #ABU). One of the reasons why I chose this laptop was because it was announced as being able to have two hard drives.

When I open the HDD I discovered that it there is no way to install a second hard drive, because the cable and the caddy is missing.

Anyone know the part number for it? The necessary cable is longer, so the previous parts for DV7 don't work with it. I called my local provider of HP, and they did not know the number of the piece, which is a little ridiculous. I probably have to pay RIP-OFF prices for something that should have been included in the laptop in the first place.

HP has not yet, but do to the sites of third parties.

These guys are the main suppliers of spare hard drive caddy. It will work. HP eventually will do the part available but don't hold your breath. $40 is a bit strong but not terrible. HP will charge more when they make available.

  • Pavilion dv7 2282eo failure HDD?

I have a year old pavilion dv7 2282eo, which worked great for me all the time I have opposing it, but now he has broken a few difficulties.

Yesterday I went shopping and when I got home all I could see on the screen of comp. was a bluish sort of background and a ugly crusor. I rebooted and got an error message saying that windows had a problem requiring a fixation. He finsihed the start and I got the same blue screen and crusor, but without icons or buttons whatsoever.

Then, I ran a quick test of the hard drive in the BIOS and received the error message "quick (303). Does anyone know what this means? I can solve this problem? Or do I have to get a new hard drive?

    Plug here.

I should also mention that I tried to boot from my recovery CD as well as the recovery partition, but all that happens is that I get the same blue background. I think it's the Windows Installer screen but there is no icons or anything.

    Thanks for the reply!

Switchable graphics is a portable dual graphics solution.  A low-power integrated graphics chip is used on battery. A superior graphical power module is used when connected to the power adapter.

Did you do a test of memory via the BIOS?

The error (303) fast is a prediction of disk failure hard iminent. Which can be solved by replacing the hard drive.

It is also why the recovery disks do not work. Once you have installed a new drive, and the operating system installed and working I can provide a link to a Sofpaq that has the reputation of being able to restore the partition recovery and F11.

  • HP Pavilion dv7 second HDD installation problem

    Hello

I recently bought an internal WD7500BPVX 750 GB SATA HDD compatible with my HP Pavilion dv7 - 2030eV to be used as a second hard drive, since I already have a 250 GB HARD drive on the laptop. I also bought a SATA cable which I think is compatible and a caddy for the disc. When I connected the SATA cable and pressed the Start button the laptop powered upwards for about a second and then stop.  I disconnected the SATA cable and left only 250GB driver connected. When I turned on again your laptop booted normally. Once I tried to connect the new HARD drive again the same thing happened. Any ideas what might be happening? I checked two times for parts compatibility before you buy, but I can't rule out it as a cause.

Thank you all in advance for your help.

    Hello

This series does not start with two different hard disks. If you want a second hard drive, you need the same 250 GB drive as the original to make it work.

  • HP Pavilion dv7 - 6163cl Win7 Home Premium HDD half of capacity

Hello, just got my HP Pavilion dv7 - 6163cl Entertainment Notebook PC and it works like a charm, but I had this issue when I was checking the system, it displays only 1 HDD with 495 GB (C when he was supposed to be 1 TB (2 x 500 GB accordly to the web page where I got it) also when I run the HP Support Assistant it shows 2 lines on the section or hard drives) :

    Hard drives

    Hitachi HTS547550A9E384 (465,76 GB)

    Hitachi HTS547550A9E384 (465,76 GB)

So... does really have 2 HARD drive? If this is the case, then how can I use 2nd HARD drive, or to be visible in the my computer window?

Also... I tried to play games and everything worked fine, but I installed the game "Amnesia: The Dark Descent ' and it stops instantly, I read on the web and they talk about updated drivers or uninstall... Could someone tell me what to do to get this game to work? Thanks in advance.

Go to the computer in the start menu and right-click on it and select 'manage '... Select disk management and see if you see 2 hard drives here. You may need to assign a drive (aka "mount") letter the second drive by right-clicking and selecting "assign drive letter" in order to access it through Windows Explorer. Frankly, HP should have done that at the factory, but if the drive is present and active, you should still be able to do it yourself. It will look something like this you should have a disk of the same size 0 and a disc 1. Your Windows drive will be more sections (partitions) and the second or the storage disk is probably just a large partition:

  • Adding second hdd to dv7-7000 will break the warranty?

I want to add ssd as a second hdd to my dv7-7000 and I'm curious to know if this way I have the warranty

Hi, congratulations on your purchase! If you have an option to add a secondary HARD drive, you will be certainly able to do that (not sure SSD/non-SSD), however, which certainly does not cancel the warranty.

Just make sure you get the right part.

To install the second disk, you will need to Hard Drive Caddy and cable connector. You can buy them here.

    Hi all!

    Product: HP Pavilion dv7-3170em

OS: Windows 7 Home Premium (that is pre-installed when I bought the laptop)

It's my second HP laptop and I've always been happy with HP products. As you know that my model has 2 discs hard hitachi (320 GB, 7200 RPM).  Now a few days ago, I noticed a problem with a secondary hard drive. I was unable to read the files on it, and moving them to had ' 'C' (primary) (secondary) was a pain. It has been very slow and sometimes blocked at startup. My 1 year warranty expired 2 months ago

Of course, I tried to reformat, it goes from chkdsk, here are a few screenshots:

    Here's primary which works flawlessly:

Error message:-hard drive 1 (301) - it sounds like there might be a malware

Virus on it. 2012 on the laptop with me AVG Internet Security. I do not know

The guys at the shop where I bought it says that I must not update the laptop

Hard disk 1 (301) is a hard disk failure. This means that the hard drive needs to be replaced.

You will need get a new hard drive and install it, then you will need to reinstall the Windows operating system using the HP recovery media. If you are in warranty, HP will send you replacement parts by your warranty conditions.

If you are out of warranty, you will need to buy a replacement hard drive, and then call HP to order the specific recovery HP for your portable media.

  • Pavilion DV7: Looking for laptop with 2 HDD bays

I'm looking to replace my Pavilion dv7 with a new laptop computer.

Can someone tell me what current models have 2 bays for hard drives, because it is what I currently have.
I don't want to replace the optical drive.

With drives of 2 TB laptop available now I would go for a model with a 256 or 512 GB ssd as boot drive m2, then a mechanical drive of 2 TB for storage. Hard for me to imagine that much storage insufficient.

  • Pavilion dv7 4053 cl: Pavilion dv7 4053cl adding second hard drive

I replaced with success the stock HDD in my laptop with an SSD.

I want to continue to use the old HDD in the laptop well, and it seems that I have a second drive Bay HARD in which HARD drive can adapt. I have not, however, see a SATA connector on the motherboard for a second HDD connection.

There is a SATA connector to the disk HARD primary (symbols of disc 1, marked on the plastic) and there are two connectors near the RAM, which seem not to be SATA, and my optical disc drive is connected.

Am I missing something, or is there is no place on the motherboard to connect a second HARD (well, or SSD) via SATA drive?

Much better now. The following link shows the specifications of your machine:

    http://support.HP.com/au-en/document/c02776731

It's a HP Pavilion dv7-6010eo. Currently it has 500 GB SATA (7200 RPM), you can switch to the SSD. You can also put a second HDD of your machine, but you need to caddy and connector. Please visit the following link:
