HP Pavilion Elite Desk Top, who needs large backup unit.

I requires too much memory, people who I talked to say 320 should be more than enough.
My question you Pro is the characteristics that you recommend, I want a USB connection and check that when the backup is preformed, whether regular or manual. I want to save both, not pick & choose. So could you please tell me about what you think, I need and options I do not consider.
I noticed some readers are equipped with the software, while others say that they don't.
This should be used in case of crash or accidental deletion, I can transfer the information to my (c :)) drive with a single click if all goes well.
Sorry for this long message, but I am relatively new to this. Thank you... Celestyna

You want to an encrypted drive so that no one else will be able to see your data?

You should get an external hard drive
As you say, a USB 2.0 connection is best. (most drives come with two or three you need to plugin so the reader gets enough power and you get a speed of 480 MB/s)
Windows Vista has a large auto backup (control of configuration\systeme and Maintenance\Backup and Food Center) that backs up all your data (as just more external hardrives back up the folders "My Documents, pictures, videos") feature of windows Vista is very easy to use.
An ideal backup drive
(1) an external hard drive
(2) with USB 2
(3) and no backup software
(4) encryption if you want
(5) a well-known brand with a good reputation (Western Digital, Seagate, Toshiba)
(6) have at least two times more space than you think you will need

I hope this helps.

  • Pavilion Elite HPE-170 t: need help with the result of a command prompt to Power Options

I have recently upgraded to Windows 10 in Windows 7.  Like so many thousands of people, I problelms of sleep mode.  Mine will not be auto-sleep.  It has been suggested that I saw to run command prompt: powercfg-applications

It supposedly will list the items running on your computer which can now be auto-sleep to work.  I tried several times and up to now, I get the same item displayed each time.  This is what is displayed: \device\harddiskvolume2\windows\sysWOW64\svchost.exe (hpqddsvc) is followed by this message: a file delete operation is underway

My first thought is that if there is an operation to remove file in progress all the time, it's maybe the reason why my computer is not auto-sleep.  If there is someone out there who can shed some light on this situation, I would appreciate the help.

    EUREKA * SOLVED

I found the answer to my problem!  After using the control system: powercfg-query and get the answer: \device\harddiskvolume2\windows\sysWOW64\svchost.exe (hpqddsvc) delete file operation is in progress

I started looking for whatever it is associated with the answer above.  In the Manager of tasks in respect of the services, I found the name of the file hpqddsvc, with a description of HP CUE DeviceDiscovery Service was running.  When I stopped the task and re-tried in opt power standby mode, it worked correctly.  In the Configuration of the system (by typing msconfig at the run prompt) on the Services tab, I unchecked the box for HP CUE DeviceDiscovery Service and rebooted the computer.  The service is no longer running.

I'm sure that this Service has been added to my computer when I downloaded the hp.com/support product detection tool .  The tool scans your computer to detect and identify HP products.

This can be useful to others who have the problem of the auto-sleep I've had.

  • HP PAVILION ELITE E9280T D: CTO need new recovery disc

I have a pair of old HP Pavillion E9280T desktop systems. I have recently installed a new hard disks on the two (both are identical machines, ordered that a pair of HP).  I also have a two sets of recovery disks that I made when the systems are new, saved on DVD.

On a single system, I was able to successfully perform a full restore (return to factory settings).  On the other system, recovery stops on the 3rd disc in 68% and gives me the following error message: "Recovery Manager is unable to restore your computer by using the original image. Please contact HP support. 0xe0ef000e error code.

I've searched the forums and found that many others have experienced this same problem.  I tried some of the proposed fixes, such as clean rags and Re-partitioning the hard drive.  None of them worked.

For fun, I also tried to recover the system using the recovery of the other machine disks.  I discovered that I was able to do a full system recovery using these disks.  It tells me that I have probably a corrupt set of recovery disks and not a hardware problem.

Unfortately, while it was fun to find out where the source of the problem, I can of course use the same set of recovery disc for both machines (I'm sure that Windows will blow up as soon as I connect to the internet and connect to MS servers).

So my question is... what should I do?  I don't think that HP sells the recovery discs any longer.  But I have a copy of Win7 Pro that I paid for, trapped on the recovery discs that don't work.

In advance, thank you for any suggestions or advice.

OK... im going to answer my own question... I should have realized this earlier, before posting my initial question.

I had a set of recovery disc for an HP same machine... at the beginning I don't think that I could use them... I did not know that the unique product key MS is not copied or assigned to the recovery discs... and since both systems where the same in all respects... it worked!

After that record on a pop up appears, windows has encountered a critical problem and will restart in one minute, and then it restarts, this is the case whenever I connect. It is a pavilion desk top of page a6212n. How can I prevent the computer from restarting on its own... Thank you

    Hello

1 did you change on your computer?

    2. What is the exact error message that you receive?

    Method 1:

I suggest you check in SafeMode with network.

Start your computer in safe mode

    http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows-Vista/start-your-computer-in-safe-mode

    Method 2:

If you are able to start your computer in safe mode, I suggest you perform the clean boot and check.

Clean boot state helps determine if third-party applications or startup items are causing the problem. If so, you need to maybe contact the manufacturer of the program for updates or uninstall and reinstall the program.

How to troubleshoot a problem by performing a clean boot in Windows Vista or in Windows 7

    http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/929135

Note: After troubleshooting, make sure the computer to start as usual as mentioned in step 7 in the above article.

  • HP Pavilion Elite e9280t PC: need a fan spec for HP Pavilion Elite

    Hello.

I have a copuple HP Pavilion Elite PCs (round box) e9280t I buy several years ago. Now refresh their place with new hard disks.  While I am, thought I would replace the old dusty case fans (I understand the fans can go wrong, after many years, just like hard drives).

Did anyone here know how I can get the exact specifications for these fans, so I know what to buy when I'm shopping.

    Thank you.

    @fridaythemovie, welcome to the forum.

The best way to determine that fans have been used since the computer is older is to measure.  Also, if you delete a computer, you can find the CFM.  You can check with the vendor to see if they have available to them.

  • HP pavilion elite e9017c needs to recover, but the habit

Currently I have a Hp Pavilion Elite model e9107c equipped with windows vista and it won't work. I left my house 2 nights ago and when I tried to use my computer today it wouldn't work, so I restarted. He is now showing me a screen that says "Windows did not start. A recent change in hardware or software may be the problem. "It gives me two options to choose from which are launch startup repair and start windows normally. When I try to boot normally, it won't let me. and I chose to run the repair of the system. I don't have recovery discs and want to restore the factory settings. I think my computer has one hard drive more small that contains factory settings to restore, but I have no idea how do. How to do?

    Hello

Shut down the PC.  Here tap f11 as soon as you press the power button to see if it will start the Recovery Manager - you can then use it to reinstall the operating system.  The process is explained in the guide on the link below - starting A recovery from the hard drive and the computer is turned off.

    http://support.HP.com/us-en/document/c00814731

If you wish. You can order a set of replacement recovery disks using the link below - I think that there is a small charge for this.

If you have a problem with this link, order them directly from HP here.

  • Video card (and others) upgrades for a HP Pavilion Elite HPE-510 t

Hello... First of all, I just want to say that these forums have been an invaluable resource for me in my quest to upgrade my current PC. A lot of good answers and always at the top of the Google search results, you guys have been so super helpful. Without a doubt a very different experience from what I got when I bought my PC from a company that rhymes with 'hell '.

I have a few specific questions, however, and thought I'd throw them to let experts weigh... For the record, I have a HP Pavilion Elite HPE - 510 t with all parts except for the video card, which is currently an ATI over-pants v4800. I am running three monitors 20 "(1 DVI and Display Port 2 at present, but who can be flexible). Also, I don't a few moderate games (FPS, MMO) and watch a lot of Netflix...

    1. I'm certainly looking to update my video card, but I do not know what actually fits. I'm ready to upgrade the PSU as well (probably to the Corsair CX-600 recommended elsewhere on this forum), so power should not be a problem. And money is not a huge problem either, as long as the card is less than $500 or more. I've been watching some of the newer cards (like a 680 GTX or even the new 770), but I'm afraid that they will not physically fit in the case, or will be not compatible with the motherboard (which seems to be the PCIe 1.0? Or I read wrong?). So basically, my ultimate question is: what is the best possible graphics card given my case current and potentially put to level power supply, motherboard, I could use? If it's important, SLI is feasible but not more.

    2. I also intend to add additional RAM. The page on the card to my PC to the HP support Site says it takes DDR3 1600 PC3 10600, but everything that I find these days in the RAM is DDR 3 1600 PC3 12800. My mother/PC card will support the 12800 or do I have to keep hunting to find 10600 sticks?

    3. and finally, I'll also put in a Pro 840 Samsung SSD. Do you know if the motherboard compatible with the SATA connectors suitable for speeds of 6 GB? Just plug page says "SATA" and does not specify a version.

Any help you could give me on these questions would be greatly appreciated. This computer has served me well for a few years now, and I'm hoping to keep it for a few more years. Thanks in advance and have a nice day...

    Aaron

Here are the specifications of plant origin and configurable options for your desktop HP Pavilion Elite HPE - 510 t CTO and here are the specs of his card mother IPISB-CH (Cleveland). According to the specifications, the motherboard uses the Chipset Intel H67 Express that supports an extension v2.0 x 16 PCIe and 3Gbs SATAII (SATA2).

    (1) SLI is not "feasible", so no need to go there. GeForce GTX 680 cards are going to be long, perhaps too long. You need to measure the space available at the back of the case more further along the x 16 PCIe slot to determine what can be installed. You will need to resign it a notch or two... until you find one that matches. The CX600 Corsair is a great choice and fits, even if you can buy the place CX600M. The CX600M is modular and allows much better management of the cables and so the potential for a better air circulation.

    (2) with regard to memory, the State of the plug;

    Four DIMM DDR3 240-pin connectors
    Supports the PC3 10600 connectors DIMM DDR3 (1333 MHz)
    Memory non - ECC, unbuffered

Then, two sets of most of these (2 x 4 GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1333 (PC3 10600) Desktop Memory Kits should do the trick. You can also go to the website Crucial.com and use two of their 'guaranteed compatible memory upgrade'.

    (3) your computer supports speeds SATAII (3Gbs) and this is the best it will do. However, the SATA connector is identical to what is found on a SSD SATAIII and it should be compatible with your computer.

    Please send BRAVO

  • HP Pavilion Elite e9120f homemade my hotter than the Sun (first tl; dr material)

Well Yes, I'm baaaaack with another question regarding the Pavilion Elite e9120f.

This problem doesn't become apparent only a few weeks ago, when the outside temperature decided to jump the 20 degrees or more.

My CPU runs very hot and I'm very worried.

A nice cool day like today its IDLE at 56 degrees Celsius. On a hot day its 58-61 Celsius.

It sucks for me because I do very high definition youtube videos and fitness puts them all 4 cores of default of the e9120f CPU, the AMD Phenom II X 4 910 dependents from 98 to 100 percent (in turn calls the temp to never bet greater than 65 degrees, during which the cpu fan goes supersayan and makes the room vibrates with the sound of a Jet engine that is not much, only keep the temperature constant, it don't cool does not desperately).

First: get a temporary monitoring program that works with this terribly designed motherboard is hard; SpeedFan, cpu - z, nothing works except Core Temp v0.99.6 that works very well. (It is worth mentioning that the bios of the motherboard comes with does not any overclocking of any kind, whatsoever, and if you mention same fan control it is falling apart.)

I found a number of things:

The fan on the top of the radiator may be upside

There is very little air flow in the case

There is no empty fan on the motherboard connector (photo, page layout sketch)

So I need to ask some questions to the base time down to a reasonable temperature.

    So:

The CPU on the top of the radiator fan. It is supposed to blow air down on the radiator or suck air through it? (Blow into the case or suck case, blowing on the radiator).

IF, for example, the seal of filth gray (sorry for the noob, I don't know what this kind of things question) which normally resides between the radiator and the processor itself was broken somehow, that would be the problem? (I had to remove so that I could lift several tons of dust in the trash, he was released and seems to work fine for a while until now).

If the gray dirt is the cause, how do I fix/replace it?

If it's not and it turns out that I need a new cpu fan/radiator, I could get suggestions for under $ 80?

    And would work this configuration:

fan case normal cover, connected to a plug. Corsair H-50 attached to the CPU, using Connector CPU fan for the pump (pump uses a 3-pin cpu fan connector, which is what uses the mother Violet3 in the e9120f), change the case so the fan and radiator are attached to the area of practice 120 mm perforated on the case, and this is where is Gets a bit tricky : using a spare molex 4pin to PSU and converter who is actually making a 3Pin fan and this connector 3 connector case pin case fan, use another converter (I've SEEN ONE but I can't find the link more) convert the fan 3 pins to a contraption of connector 4pin case fan. I also ask if there is an easier way to put it in place but I can't find anything that converts a molex 4-pin PSU to this type of plug:

I appreciate for any help. This pocket of plasma burning in my cpu MUST END NOW! LOL tl; Dr

It should not be too much a problem with a 3 pin to 4 pin Just make you line insertion slots.

Optionally, you could add as a case fan or change the power supply. HP power supplies have very small fans and the area of total air flow (grid holes) is also low.

Thermal paste is gray grime. You need more than a slim gain of dab of thermal paste rice spread.  Insofar the processor coolers to go, you will need to do some measure the width and the height.  The Corsair and Thermaltake make a lot of CPU coolers.

  • Pavilion Elite m9250f: PSU m9250f

I am trying to replace the 350 watt PSU in this Pavilion Elite m9250f.  Our electronics store a large number of power supplies with features - save a.  Plate of the PSU lists 0.8 a-12V line.  All but one the new PSUS in the store of the list only 0. 3 a or 0. 5A-12V.  The only one with 0.8 a is 850 watts.

Should this machine really more than 0. 8A-12V?

I was unable to get information about HP or ASUS, manufacturer of Council.  It is ridiculous to go to 850W just to drive the - 12V line.

Does anyone have details or experience in this area?

    Hello

-12v is just a reference voltage and provide a small amount of current.  Corsair CX500, CX600 or CS500m would work well in your PC.

Bottom line: as long as the power supply has - 12v reference source so don't worry associated with amperage.

If you need more in detail and then do a search of the internet on 'forum of computing power supply '.  Maybe an EE with a specialization in theory of transformer can provide you with a simpler explanation that I have provided.  I'm sorry.

    Hi there @LeoOfMars

Welcome to the Forums of HP Support! It's a good place to find the help you need, so many other users, the HP experts and other members of the support staff. I understand that you are looking to find out if a video card is compatible with your information system. I'm happy to help you with that.

The main reasons to be sure of are normally feeding you, special (to THE) cable power supply for the graphics card, on the motherboard compatible expansion slot, the drivers for your operating system, another thing to know is the physical size of the map, for moments of cases.

Looking at the specs of your system and the motherboard by default, I listed the type of slot of power and expansion.

HP Pavilion Elite e9180t Desktop PC product specifications and configurable Options

Output power of power: 460 Watt

HP and Compaq desktop PC - specifications of the motherboard, IPMTB-TK (Truckee)

Two graphics PCI Express 2.0 x 16 (for graphics cards)

Go to the video card you are looking at:

    GTX 780 3072 MB GDDR5 PCI-E 3.0 OC Custom cooled graphics card

    Input power: 1 x 8-pin auxiliary input aux input 1 x 6-pin
    Bus type: PCI-Express 3.0 16 x

    System requirements:
Mother compatible PCI Express with a slot of chart double-width x 16
Power 600W minimum (with a minimum of 12V current rating of 42A) 3
300 MB of available disk space
2 GB of memory system (4 GB or more recommended)
Microsoft Windows 8, Windows 7, Windows Vista, or Windows XP Operating System (32 or 64-bit)
DVD-ROM drive or Internet connection for installation
DVI, HDMI, DisplayPort or VGA compatible monitor

So on a quick inspection of both devices there are three problems, so this card will not work on your motherboard or with the current power.

    I hope this helps.

    1 x 8 pins, entry to aux in, 1 x 6-pin
