  This may seem repeated, but really, I gave up. The bluetooth is simply does not. I downloaded the driver from the HP website and provider of bluetooth (Ralink). Among all these, he had restarted, close, wait, open again. In any case, the bluetooth icon is there but it just doesn't work. I checked the Device Manager, no yellow dot on bluetooth and the bluetooth doesn't appear in Device Manager without selecting display devices. I also tried services.msc and auto selection. Now, the net result is that bluetooth does not work. It identifies any device. I checked these devices on another computer and it is OK and works smoothly. It's really annoyeing. I think of buying a bluetooth key to solve it, but I tried an old bluetooth key and it did NOT work (I mean it is identified but not working to find any device bluetooth).   Looks like I can't get any support here. I would just like to add that the bluetooth issue is resolved by upgrading to windows 10.

  -disabled + material bluetooth enabled

  -several good bluetooth devices doublechecks works next to the laptop: work and the pair with eachother, but not to my Pavilion

  -checked the bluetooth compatibility: it should be compatible because should always match a lower/higher generation, so I found on the internet (3.0 for both devices / 4.0 for my laptop)

  Bluetooth on my laptop does not work because two devices (in same color or unmatched situation) closely placed next to my laptop is I have search for devices via "Devices and printers" + "add a device". Bluetooth is activated via 'Pc settings' + 'Airplane Mode' where you can turn Bluetooth power on or off.

  Would you please support me and give me a hint of something that I have not yet tried? Thank you for reading my post.

  I see that the Bluetooth service does not automatically start your laptop.

  It would be really useful to know which product and the operating system you are using.

  For more information on the search for your model and product numbers, click here: How can I find my model number or product number?
  What version of Windows you are using, click here: Windows operating system am I running?

  You can also try to control services on the laptop to make sure that the Bluetooth Support Service (or bthserv) is configured to start automatically, instead of manual. Start (Trigger) manual will try to detect Bluetooth devices before turning on, to prevent the service from running when it is not needed. This does not always work perfectly so if you use Bluetooth we will set it to automatic instead.

  To change Windows services:

  1. Press the Windows key + R to open the run window.
  2. Type services.msc and click OK to open the Services window.
  3. In the list of services find Bluetooth Support Service (or bthserv).
  4. Right-click on it and choose Properties.
  5. On the general tab set the drop-down list Startup type to Automatic.
  6. Click the log .
  7. Check the circle Local System account .
  8. Click OK to close the window
  9. Reboot and test.

  If it still does not respond, you may need to try automatic (delayed start) to give the system more startup time before searching for Bluetooth devices.

  I have a HP Pavilion dv6 1128tx laptop.  It has bluetooth built-in and used to connect to my phone without problem.  I recently upgraded to Vista SP2, and since then, bluetooth does not work.  In the control panel when I click on bluetooth devices it does not connect, and when I click on bluetooth, nothing happens.  I downloaded the latest drivers from HP, I installed it is said in the end the process there is no bluetooth device installed and the only option is to cancel the installation.  I've been on microsoft site http://support.microsoft.com/kb/960531/ where I used the option "fix it for me", which has removed the option of Control Panel devices and I don't know how to fix this!  I followed the instructions from HP on this page http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/document?lc=en&dlc=en&cc=au&product=3938840&docname=c00915262, but I don't see anything on bluetooth technology on the Device Manager page.

  In Device Manager, there are all the devices with a yellow mark ! next to them? Is there an 'unknown' devices listed?

  You could try the system restore to restore the computer prior to the installation of SP2.

  1. click on START
  2. Type "System Restore" (without the quotes) and press enter
  3 follow the prompts to restore your system to a date BEFORE the problem started

  The laptop supports Wlan Atheros / module combo BT.
  This means that a single module shares WiFi and BT connectivity.

  Using Win 7 you must add the additional drivers called filter for driver Atheros BT package.
  So first the Atheros WLan driver must be installed, secondly Atheros BT filter after battery Toshiba BT.
