HP Pavilion G6-1d08dx: cannot order the recovery kit

When trying to order the kit of recovery for the laptop, nothing happens after I get the serial number and press Next.

It's very frustrating because I tried 3 computers now as well on 3 different browsers...

Sorry you have so much trouble ordering of recovery disks. HP site has this problem on a sporadic basis - usually change the help browser, but I see that you have done this. You might wait a day or two to see if it gets worked. Or fill out the form on the halfway point on this page. If all goes well, there will be a resolution here.

https://support.HP.com/us-en/contact-HP/product/HP-Pavilion-G6-1D00-notebook-PC-series/5186811/model/5265981

I'll bring the issue you are seen and will check to see if you have had success using either the command option. Good luck!

If this is the case, then you need the recovery media you can perform a factory image recovery.

You can remove the hard drive and connect it to another PC through an external drive enclosure or a usb cable to sata. Which will allow you to copy your important data from the drive to another device of storage for extra security.

  • M6-1035dx Pavilion: clone SSD drive cannot locate the recovery Partition

I recently bought a HD 500 GB of SSD to replace the original that came with the laptop.  The SSD drive I bought is slightly smaller than the original one.   I used the cloning software is Macrium.  Partitions, I am interested in cloning are the HPTools and recovery.  Stand have been cloned successfully by the software.  I put the active recovery as well.

After swapping the drives, the system starts the HPTools immediately, but the options for the restoration part are "grayed out".  I can't access it.  I tried several times, and this is where I am stuck.  It seems that the recovery partition is not detected by the cloned HPTools.

I do not have the recovery DVD, but I have the original HD with partitions intact and they work just fine because I recently test the recovery process.

I missed well to clone the original HD somehow that the SSD is unable to detect the partition?  Maybe I missed a step?  The difference in the size of the hard drive causes a problem in the recovery process?  How can I remedy the situation and use my new SSD?

Thank you for all your advice.

Try the complete sector-by-sector disk cloning.  If you use Macrium, you will need a paid version. The free version just do enough for the advanced cloning procedure you need.  See the following web document to compare versions.

    http://www.Macrium.com/reflectfree.aspx

BTW, an SSD detects nothing. This is the BIOS and the operating system that detects hardware, firmware and software.

You can use HP recovery media successfully on an SSD or not, that has at least 160 GB of capacity. Your 500 GB SSD certainly has enough capacity.

    Hello

Here are all the HP information on different methods to recover back to factory settings

Three ways to recover the PC to original operating status

The recovery process may take an hour upwards or more and is not complete until the prompt to connect to the computer. When the recovery is complete, don't forget to run the update of Microsoft Windows and the HP health check to install all the drivers updated and software.
    1. Restore the PC to its original state with the HP Recovery Manager of in Windows Vista

If the PC can be started and opens on the Windows desktop, you can use the HP recovery disk to restore the PC to original factory State by following the steps below.
      1. Click Start and enter the recovery in the field of research. Select Recovery Manager in the list, when it becomes available. Allow the action to proceed, if you are prompted. The HP Recovery Manager opens.

      6. When you are prompted to recover without backing up your files , please STOP before you click Next .
CAUTION: It's the last chance to change your mind recovery PC and delete all the files and programs. Once you click Next , the restore process cannot be stopped
      7. If you are convinced that you want to start the recovery process, click Next . The PC immediately starts formatting the disk hard drive and destroy all data.
The recovery process may take up to several hours and will return the PC to its original state. All custom, settings drivers, software and upgrades or hardware updates are lost and must be reinstalled.
Restore the PC to its original state with the HP Recovery Manager if Windows Vista is not accessible

If the PC does not start under Windows, it may still be possible to use the HP recovery disk to restore the computer to its original state. The Recovery Manager can be started during the boot process by following the steps below.
      1. Press on the button / stop to start the PC and press the f11 key when the standard BIOS guests appear on the black screen.

      • If the HP Recovery Manager cannot access the hard disk to resolve system errors, you need to use the recovery disk custom that you created to recover the hard disk to its original state.
      • If you have not created the custom recovery disk, or disks are damaged, you can order a replacement of HP recovery CD.

    2. When the Recovery Manager starts, follow the instructions of recovery step by step , shown above.
    3. Solve a common problem of recovery.
If the original operating system is changed to a non - Vista OS, the Recovery Manager cannot be launched either office or by pressing f11 at startup. You can use the recovery disk to restore the computer to the original state of Vista. If you are using a non - Vista OS, you can use a third-party partition management program to recover hard disk space.
Restore the PC to its original state with the recovery discs

If the PC cannot access the Windows desktop, and the Recovery Manager cannot be started by selecting the f11 at startup key, you can use either the recovery disc custom that you created, or you can order a recovery CD to replace HP, to boot the PC and restore the hard drive to its original operating state.
NOTE:  Run the recovery process by using the custom recovery disk you created can take less than an hour, while you use replacement discs ordered directly from HP can take four to six hours and includes several reboots.
If the HP Recovery Disk Manager can access the hard drive, it will attempt to repair the recovery partition. If successful, a prompt to continue execution of the recovery using the Recovery Disk Manager.
Use the recovery discs to restore the PC by following the steps below.
      1. Insert the recovery disc into the optical disc drive and start the computer.
If the computer is running, insert the reinstallation disc and immediately click on Start and select restart to force the computer to boot from the recovery disc.

      4. When the HP Recovery Manager window appears, click Advanced options , System Recovery , and then click Next to open the Recovery Manager.
      5. Follow the on-screen instructions and perform the necessary actions.

NOTE:  Do not interrupt the recovery process even though the computer may restart, and the Windows desktop can display at different times.

      • After completing the backup, when you are prompted, reinsert the recovery disk, and then click Next to continue the recovery process.
A status box is displayed to indicate the State of the recovery and the estimated remaining time.
      • If you have used several disks when you created the custom recovery discs, follow the prompts to remove the first disc and insert requested discs.

    4. When you are prompted to Insert additional driver disk , take one of the following actions:
      • If you purchased a replacement of HP recovery disk and it included an extra driver disc, insert the disc, and then click OK or Next . The recovery program checks the additional drive and installs the necessary files.

    9. HP Pavilion Notebook g7: Re-create the recovery on D drive partition

I have a HP Pavilion g7, which originally had Windows 7.  I recently upgraded to Windows 10. However, the recovery partition (D has still the Windows 7)  Question: Can I just remove the Windows 7 file and re-create the partition recovery with Windows 10 or is it more involved.

      morris81

      Basically, the answer is no.

      Why?

Because installed HP recovery Partition contains a custom Windows OEM compressed HP image and the firmware on the same PC is written to be able to start in this partition (using F11) to this recovery.

Your own partition does NOT contain this file because there is no way to get at HP.

Even in this case, the F11 process wouldn't work, even if you haven't created your own partition.

However... If you want the means to do a full system recovery, then consider using a third-party product known as Macrium Reflect the image of the installation.

Macrium reflect (MR) provides a FREE version that can be used to image and restore partitions or drives together.

What I recommend is the following:
      (1) download and install Macrium reflect (MR)
      (2) run M. and choose the option: "Create an image of the partition (s) required to backup and restore Windows" to write a full backup to an external drive or USB key
      (3) use the option to create a CD or a USB startup key

My experience is that SIR, when you use the option of Compression high, typically allows to compress the image file recorded at about 50% of the space USED in the OS partition.  This means that if you have a 40GB and 80GB OS partition is used, MR must only about 20 GB to store the image file.

I use all the time and it usually takes less than 10 minutes to make the backup of the image and at the same time or less do a restore.

In addition, MR has the ability to add a recovery Boot Menu entry.  This then allows you to boot into Windows re, and then you can use it to do a restore - when you cannot start Windows!

NOW, you have the means to restore a full system that works for the external hard drive or USB key in a few minutes.

      Good luck

    10. Equium L20 - cannot complete the recovery procedure - disk error

      Hello

I have a laptop Equium L20 and whats happened is, during a recovery of product, he gets to 25% then emits an error at me and stops working.

Now when I turn on the laptop, I get the Toshiba screen, then nothing.
I was informed that my drive is probably broken and I now no operating system but I am a complete computer novice so don't know how it is.

I took the laptop to PC world a few years ago and they run a recovery of product but I did not my drive, so I want to know is, is it possible to run recovery without the disc?
(seems to me just don't forget the sound by pressing a few buttons)

      If so, how?
And if not what someone have any suggestions as to how I can restore the computer?

      Thanks in advance

      Hello

      > during a recovery of product, sometimes about 25% then emits an error at me and stops working.

As you mentioned, possibly recovery disk is defective, broken, or similar, this could be the reason why the CD/DVD drive is not able to read the disc and the installation breaks upward.

You cannot get this phone without the recovery disk! It is an old series laptop and it does not support the HARD drive recovery process, as do other mobile most recent.

If you have only two ways to install the Windows operating system; you need to use the Toshiba recovery disc (which seems to be broken) or you can install the operating system by using the Microsoft Windows XP disk.

If install you the operating system using the disk of MS original then you need to install the drivers of Toshiba which are placed on the European driver Toshiba page (look in the archives).

PS: maybe you could try to burn (copy) the recovery disk using another computer.
In some cases of the different drives are able to read scratched discs.
If you want to be successful and if you want to be able to copy the recovery disk, you can then use the new disk in order to restore the operating system on your computer satellite phone.

    13. Cannot start the Recovery Console Windows from the installation CD

On my MacBook I ve running in VMware Fusion 3.0.1 a Virtual Machine with Win XP Pro.

When I reboot Win XP Pro and start again from the Windows XP Pro installation CD, I can see the "Welcome" with the menu screen

-To install Win XP now, press ENTER

-To repair an installation of Windows XP using the Recovery Console, press r.

-To quit Setup without installing Windows XP, press F3.

When I click ENTER or R, I see the message

-The installation program did not find any hard drives installed in your computer. Setup cannot continue. To quit Setup, press F3.

Today the question? In the 40 GB of the virtual machine, I have two free partitions of 10 GB and 20 GB Win XP Pro execution. Why see Setup cannot process this partition?

I ve also installed a second Virtual Machine, but the installation of VMware Fusion not show the "Welcome" screen, but it installs both Win XP Pro.

The installation of the recovery in the virtual race Machine Win XP Pro Console is successful, but when I start the recovery in Start Menu Console, just the screen blue 0x7B (inaccessible boot device).

What must I do, to start the Recovery Console in VMware Fusion? Or another question: when merging does support the Windows Recovery Console?

Wow, nothing indicates that you use a German version of Fusion that your English is excellent.  Anyway as VMware headquarters is in the United States, like me, I always provide information in English and information-specific guidelines in the VMware Fusion help files come from the English version as well as any Documentation from VMware that I reference.  I say this next part as a general and not directed comment towards you, as you have noted your using the German version... Any person requesting help must always at least include technical information referencing manufacture, make, model, version, and language other then English, material goods and software involved in issues.  We'll find a good reference for the type of information that must always be included in HOWTO: ask (and answer) Questions.

As a much get into the BIOS if you use the Fusion 3, you don't need to enter the BIOS to change the boot device as this can be done in the settings now however to enter the BIOS for other things that need/want of press you F2 directly after starting the Virtual Machine and after having clicked on the screen but the av VM boot so fast that it's easily missed.  You can add the following settings to the file of configuration .vmx of the Virtual Machine to slow down the startup so that force once in the BIOS.

      bios.bootDelay = "3000"
      bios.forceSetupOnce = "TRUE"

The bios.bootDelay is in milliseconds and the bios.forceSetupOnce Boolean value is then set to FALSE, automatically.  Each of these parameters are independent of each other.

Notes: Creating an ISO Image of the CD/DVD drive

When you use utility disk in order to have a bootable ISO Image, you must select Master CD/DVD without encryption in which case by default, it will have an extension .cdr file and in version 1.1 of the merger and later does not need to be changed in .iso, although one can if one chooses to. A default .dmg image is compressed and is not bootable, as an uncompressed .dmg will start if changed in .iso and of course the source CD/DVD should be bootable in the first place.

To create an ISO Image using disk utility...

1 insert the CD or DVD disc into the optical drive of your computer.

      2. open disk utility (/ Applications/Utilities/Disk utility).

      3. Select the CD or DVD drive in the list of disks and volumes.

      4. Choose file > new > "Disk Image from (name of the disc)."

      5. type a name for the disk image.

      6. choose "DVD/CD master" from the Image Format pop-up menu.

7 choose "none" from the encryption pop-up menu.

      8. click on save.
