HP Pavilion g6t-2000 CTO: dedicated GPU upgrade Possible?

My laptop has switchable graphics and I was wondering if I could update the map that was not integrated. I bought it three years ago naievely think it would be good enough for the games. The GPU is currently the only thing that keeps me from Fallout 4. Is there something better than an AMD Radeon HD m 7670 (what I currently have) that would be worth upgrading to? I tried to look in the manual for compadible parts and I know that because of the switchable thing that HP should already have drivers for it.

Hello

No, you can't improve it. Please also see the following post:

  • Pavilion g6t-2000 CTO: switchable graphics in Pavilion g6

I bought this phone two or three years ago, but didn't notice this problem until a year ago. This is because I did not know what as switchable graphics were and supposed worked the map I spent an extra $ 100 for. I'm unable to use the AMD m7076HD graphic card at all. Instead I am forced to use the 4000HD Intel integrated for gaming, which is far from ideal. When I start the computer I get an error message saying that I don't have the dirvers for AMD when I left click on the desktop there is no option to configure switchable graphics, when I try to start CCC it gives me an error message saying that there are no settings to configure, when I try to change the graphic properties it only shows me that the Intel chip When I look into the setting graphic video games there is only the chip intel, and in the bios there is no fixed and switchable settings. The only way that I know that I have and AMD card in the computer is the Device Manager say. So far, I have tried several times to update the drivers for the cards and the bios of HP and just leshcat cards, repeaditly. I also took to geek team once, but the most they could do was to get CCC to open. With GTA 5 on I really want the issue to be fixed. Is there anything else I can do? I've scoured the web last year and found no other soloutions for my specific problem. If there's really nothing else I can do myself, where should I consider truly fixed. From what I've read, it seems that many other people had this problem and it never solved. I'm done with this computer and HP, I need answers quickly, or I'll just cut my losses and buy a new laptop from a brand that will sell me fully functional. Let me know if you need more info.

    Hi there @supersadness

Welcome to the Forums of HP Support! It's a good place to find the help you need, so many other users, the HP experts and other members of the support staff.

I understand that you have had problems with switchable graphics on your laptop. I'm happy to help you with this.

First, you talk to install several drivers for this, but in reality, if you have switchable graphics, you need just the driver on the HP site, which contains the drivers for the AMD and Intel for a switchable configuration.

Please read the following for more information on how it works.

Computers laptops HP - overview of switchable graphics or dual GPU

HP - Switchable Graphics on laptops laptops configured with Intel and ATI GPU

This should be the only driver, you must install for switchable graphics features. It will start to download on your download folder by default once you click on the link. You will then need to run to start the installation. However I would recommend uninstall video driver previous first, then by restarting and then installing this driver.

AMD graphics driver high definition (HD)

Also, here is the description of the functionality from the download page:

This package provides the AMD graphics driver high definition (HD) and Catalyst Control Center for models of laptop computers that are running an operating system supported. For laptops equipped with switchable graphics modes, this package contains the drivers for the two graphics (GPU). Switchable graphics allow users to switch between a graphical power mode (normally used under the power of the battery) and a mode of graphics performance. If the video output high-definition multimedia interface (HDMI) is supported, this package also installs the HDMI Audio Driver.

Let me know if it helps.

  • Pavilion g6t-2000 black screen & Sleep Mode problem

    Features of the laptop:
Name: HP Pavilion g6t-2000 CTO Notebook

    CPU: Intel I3 - 2370 m 2.4 GHz, Intel HD 3000

GPU: AMD Radeon HD m 7670

    OS: Windows 7 64-bit

So over the past two weeks, I have been having a problem with my laptop after installation of an update to the beta with my GPU driver. Whenever I put my computer to sleep mode and turn on I get a black screen. The computer is turned on and set to lock the screen, so if I typed my password, it'll make the connection noise. Also, if I look at the right angle, I see a very dimmed screen which is there before I moved it in mode 'sleep'. Strangely when I put the laptop in hibernate mode and turn back on the screen is fine.

    Things I've tired:

    • Removed the beta driver and the GPU of HP drivers installed via the HP website
    • Update BIOS f.25 (latest driver)
    • Changed the power of options such as checking to see if hybrid sleep is turned off
    • Check the BIOS, it is very little options and none has to do with my problems. Only thing I can see on BIOS is to change the boot priority and enable and disable the little features like "fan always on / off", etc.
    • Running sfc/scannow

On a side note, my laptop has been dropped about a week BEFORE the update to the beta GPU on a foot of my bed. "Sleep" mode was not affected by what I know. I was also reading autour on a power inverter and there may be possible that it has been damaged and if you think it is maybe it how can I test it? Thank you.

I finally got the time to do a restore on my HP Pavilion laptop factory g6t-2000 settings and after doing a test with the AMD drivers, I discovered that drivers AMD were the problem holding my laptop to wake up full-screen mode 'sleep'. Thank you very much for your help AxshunJaxun.

I recommend to not install the AMD drivers and once you do and that you do not have a restore point the only solution is a factory restore settings.

  • HP Pavilion Dv6t 2000 CTO-two unknown device

    Hi all

My laptop is HP pavilion Dv6t 2000 CTO, product no.: NQ615AV, run the Windows 7 64-bit operating system.

    It has two unknown device:

    1. PCI Express Root Complex
    2. Intel PM55 Express Chipset LPC Interface Controller - 3B 03

    Driver status: code 28.

I haved installed driver: audio, graphics, Player cards, chipset (sp45629), quick launch.

    Please help me!

    Thank you very much.

The Unit came with Windows 7, or is it upgraded to Windows 7? If you upgrade, what was a facility on the spot or own?
It was like that out of the box, or was it a recent development? Nothing changed at all before that? It is strange for drivers just disappear.

Have you tried to use the automatic update of the Intel driver? If not, go here and select it. It must analyze and find the drivers for the listed products that both are involved with the motherboard and chipset.

  • Driver Bluetooth for Pavilion DV6T-2000 CTO

I have recently installed the bluetooth module, part number 537921-001, on a Pavilion DV6T-2000, and I can not find the device driver.  It is not automatically install in Windows 8 x 64 and I do not see those who have been made available for Windows 7 x 64 on the support page.

I also tried to use drivermax and slimdrivers hoping to find it but still no luck.  The device appears in the device as an unknown device manager, but it upward in the BIOS as a device in the System Info screen.

    Hi Abg3,

I understand that the Bluetooth is not installed on your HP Pavilion DV6T-2000 and Windows 8. Windows should pull in the correct driver for the device. I would go into Device Manager and uninstall, then restart the computer with the device in. Here is a link to the drivers.

  • Pavilion H8-1111: h8-1111 GPU Upgrade-> Radeon HD6670 to NVIDIA GeForce 560Ti (possibly OEM)

    Hello HP

I was offered a GPU that is better than what my office is came with originally.

I currently have problems understanding if it works with current motherboard, I just like the old GPU Radeon... Technical reading is confusing, so I wanted to just the idea of someone else who might have a better understanding of all the words that I read so many HP and NVIDIA.

So far all I can get is:

-J' I need two 2 x 4 6-pin PCI Express connection power adapters to power this "beast" since my office is only with a bunch of power connectors 4 pin

-My power supply is internal (not sure if it is the 'quantity' of power available for the material) where spec readings of the NVIDIA card recommend a single 400W 300W power supply.

    So here are the Questions!

What are the potential risks it ask 'too much' of my diet that is conecting one more "power hungry" GPU?

This NVIDIA card seems physically mount on this motherboard using the PCI x 16 port?

(This thing is huge, its basically 4 times the colume of my card...)

    Sheets I used-->

    My original desktop

    Motherboard

    GPU Radeon HD6670

GTX 560Ti OEM (as of GeForce)

Installation guide for GTX 560Ti (PDF of NVIDIA; this one is for a different card, but it shows the same ports with the exception of the mini HDMI port)

    Hello

Rule #1: Stick with recommendation of size of the graphic card PSU wattage manufactuer.

Rule #2: If your PC is not running a version 8 or higher BIOS then you will need to use a graphics card that is inherited.

The NVIDIA GTX 660 or 670 would be graphics cards good for your PC when supported by a 500-600 watt POWER supply.

  • HP Pavilion dv6t-6100 CTO Quad: processor upgrade

    Hello fellow admins classmates
can I ask if I can improve my processor Intel Core i7-2630QM 2.00 GHz at 2.30 GHz Intel Core i7-2820QM?

any help and suggestions will be appreciated

    Check Page 2 here:

    Manual

Yes, the 2820QM is the top of the page compatible processor. For an increase in clock speed of 15%, I'm not sure that the upgrade will do a lot for you, but if you feel able to do so, the upgrade will work.

    This processor is quite expensive:

    http://www.eBay.com/ITM/Intel-Core-I7-2820QM-SR012-quad-core-processor-2-3-GHz-3-4GHz-8-MB-/281668104339?PT=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item4194ba3093

They run up to $200 on eBay. I invest this money in an SSD if you do not already have one.

    Hello

The text of presentation of NVIDIA/AMD on the system and the requirements of the PSU is below. The video card will fit. There is a link in the following text indicating the specifications on power supply recommended AMD.

"PCI Express® based PC is required with a X 16 channel available on the motherboard graphics slot
500 watt or greater power supply with two 75W power connectors 6-pin PCI Express® recommended (600 Watt and four connectors 6-pin for AMD CrossFireX™ technology in dual mode)
Certified power supplies are recommended.  See http://ati.amd.com/certifiedPSU for a list of certified products.

    D3Nv3R, welcome to the forum.

Here is an Overview of the computer.  It shows the video cards supported by the motherboard.  It says nothing about the nVidia GTX cards.  They require the UEFI in the motherboard instead of a standard BIOS.  I doubt that your motherboard has UEFI due to age.

    Hello

Sorry, but HP is not currently supported on your laptop with Windows 7 drivers.

You can try dowmloading the NVIDIA GeForce Go 6150 WHQL driver from NVIDIA. . Try the detection function on the page of the NVIDIA driver.

You may find that a driver that can be used for the games is going to be difficult with Windows 7.

Have you tried Windows Update? I just read that there is some news of NVIDIA GeForce Go drivers available.

  • upgrading ram in the laptop of HP Pavilion g6t - 1B 00 CTO

is it possible to upgrade my ram from 4 GB to 8 GB of ram in the laptop of HP Pavilion g6t - 1B 00 CTO?

    Hey ranjith1992,

The maximum amount of RAM supported your model is 8GBs. The unit has 2 DIMM slots, so you need to get the memory 2 x 4 GB DDR3 modules. Take a look inside the machine to see how fast the 2 GB that you are there (for example, 1066 MHz) and buy 4 GB modules that match.

Here are some photos/instructions to help you get started: http://h10032.www1.hp.com/ctg/Manual/c02829479.pdf

Page 48 lists the tested/compatible memory modules and shows you how even to yourself! Additionally, make sure that you are using a 64-bit operating system in order to fully use the 8GBs - a 32 bit OS will see 4GBs.
