HP Pavilion Notebook Gaming -: HP Pavilion Notebook Gaming - 15-ak010nr (ENERGY STAR), overheating, and an external monitor?
I was curious office depot on this desktop computer and I was told the oveheats cell phone when an external monitor is hooked up to it and I was wondering why there is a vga first port if that's the question
Hello
There are few things that I would like to say:
1. the machine doesn't have a VGA port. There
• 2 superSpeed USB 3.0
• 1 universal serial (USB) 2.0 bus
• 1 HDMI
• 1 RJ-45 (LAN)
• 1 plug headphone-out/microphone-in the drop-down list
The HDMI port is to connect to an external monitor pre BIGfor you to enjoy games if you wish.
2 right, I connect to external monitors almost all of my laptops.
Play games on your laptop can still cause "overheating", anything.
Kind regards.

Hi, I would like to know if I can upgrade the RAM on my specific laptop model. I know that there is only 1 slot of memory so I would replace the current module of ram of 4 GB with an 8 GB one.
Is this possible? Are there parts that are welded and tempt me to not be able to upgrade the ram and the system provides a module of 8 GB?
Thank you!
Hello
You have to decide from the outset and buy the right model, because the RAM is not scalable:
2 SODIMM slots DDR3L-1600
Support for DDR3L-1600
Dual channel support
Supports up to 16384 MB maximum memory embedded systemKind regards.

Absolutely!
You can use as many USB DVI adapters as you have USB ports available.
If you go beyond the number of USB ports on your laptop be sure and use external powered hubs USB This way you don't kill the chip southbridge by gong beyond current capacity.

Yes I know not how, but you won't like it. Here is the Service Manual:

HP Pavilion notebook-17-f170nb (ENERGY STAR) (K1S08EA) SSD upgrade
HP Pavilion notebook-17-f170nb (ENERGY STAR) (K1S08EA)
Is it possible to add an additional SSD (2.5 inches, msata, m2) to this computer or is this not possible?
I have to remove anything or not?
I can't find it anywhere. At present, this type had a 1 to HARD 5400 RPM and 8 GB Flash disk - cache.
Thanks in advance,
Ken
Here is the Service Manual:
17-fxxx Pavilion series is the budget model type and has no place for a second hard drive or player mSATA.
The only thing you could do to maximize the speed is to install an SSD of regular full size as single storage drive in the 2.5-inch drive Bay.
However, it is a major undertaking and requires almost complete disassembly. See Page 94 and below:
http://support.HP.com/us-en/document/c04339451
Not exactly the same model but close and it shows step by step video of everything you need to do to reach the hard drive Bay. Wish it were easier for you.

Hello world
I have a huge problem with my Pavilion. I used Windows 8.1 earlier, and I decided to upgrade to Windows 10. I did not like something (can't remember what) and decided to return to Windows 8.1. Almost a year passed, I am again on Windows 10. But if I SLEEP my computer:
- Screen goes black, everything seems normal.
- No matter how long wait, fan keeps spinning and power LED, LED Wi - Fi on.
- Keyboard input does not help. Does not meet what it is.
- The only thing left to do - stop hard.
And if I shut down the operating system:
- Windows normally stops, close all applications, screen goes black.
- Fan on, led on.
I did not notice these problems with restarting and the hibernation.
Two things I've done in this gap of the year:
- Replacement screen. An old broke. Thanks to my cat...
- Formatted the drive. I don't think it would do anything diffirent.
So, any help would be appreciated.
Thanks in advance,
Kebab
Hello
On some machines, the pilot for 11 series IMEI has been known to cause that kind of question of the judgment, so it may be worth trying an earlier version.
You can use the following method to install an earlier version of the driver IMEI.
Download driver IMEI on the link below and save it in your downloads folder.
http://ftp.HP.com/pub/SoftPaq/sp66001-66500/sp66228.exe
Disable your wireless card (should be f12 ).
Open your download folder and run the installer - it warns you that it is an earlier version, but simply continue.
When finished, restart the laptop.
If the computer shuts down correctly, turn on your wireless adapter and use the utility on the following link to prevent Windows 10 to update automatically the driver IMEI again.

HP Pavilion dv4: can I factory reset with an external monitor attached to my laptop?
I got a laptop HP Pavilion dv4 entertainment PC. It has a cracked screen and I use an external monitor attached. Can I do a factory reset with the attached external monitor? The monitor is an HP w1815 LCD, case ini that matters.
Thanks for any help on this.
I would like to add that I can see on both screens only on screen cracked that I can't see the bottom of it due to cracking. As recovery options are visible on the external display, it would be prudent to start the recovery process? I made a few choice, but I am now at the point choose to 'pull the trigger' and click next to start it or hit Cancel.
Thank you.

HP Pavilion dv6-7029wm: BIOS display on an external monitor
Hello
The screen of my laptop has been broken for quite awhile now and I tried to find a way to be able to view the BIOS on an external monitor.
I tried pressing f2 and f8, f10 or esc on startup and try using f4 to toggle the display without result.
As a side note, when I press f10 if I try to press keys f later my computer makes a high-pitched beep, I don't know if this means anything but I feel like it is worth noting. I use an external keyboard, so I don't have a fn key, if all that matters.
Finally, I tried to disconnect the front lcd screen but my attempts to disassemble my laptop in the past have not exactly well and I do not trust myself without ruining things more far.
What I can do about it, or am I out of luck?
I'm afraid you're out of luck when it comes to BIOS on external monitor display. The switch of the F4 does that once the computer is started. Same goes for making a recovery system - several have posted asking how to see recovery on external monitor... screens cannot be done.
Your Service and Maintenance Guide should help with reeplacing lcd.

My Pavilion dv6 upgraded to windows 10 what happened to my external screen does not
My Pavilion dv6 upgraded to windows 10 what happened to my external screen does not
Hi @Jake08,
Thank you for visiting the HP Forums! A place where you can find solutions for your problems with the help of the community!
I stumbled upon your post on the laptop and wanted to help you! I looked in your question about your HP Pavilion dv6 Notebook and questions with external screen works not properly. You can try this without the connected external monitor.
In Device Manager, click the arrow next to display adapters to expand this category
Right-click on the graph, and then select Update driver software if more than 1 graphic adapter do 1 at a time.
Select search automatically for updated driver software. The laptop must find and automatically install the updated driver
Once the installation is complete, restart your laptop. You can try to use the Windows Update Troubleshooter to fix updates that do not come through Windows 10. Please restart the laptop twice to make sure that all updates are completed!
Please let me know how it goes.
Thank you.

Possible to connect an external monitor for laptop HP Pavilion dv4t-4200 CTO
I have a HP Pavilion dv4t-4200 CTO Entertainment Notebook PC model # A1M02AV and it has a VGA, one port that resembles a cable port phone/broadband and one that looks like a USB port, but indented on each side down. I can even connect an external monitor? How will I know if I have more than 1 video card? In addition to the usual USB/headphone ports, I have not all ports. He says that my drivers are up to date... but I don't know even what I'm looking for. Do I need to install something or buy some kind of adapter?
I'm trying to connect an external Dell montitor via the VGA port with a VGA cable. The monitor has power, but my laptop does not detect recognize them / it. However, when I plugged in the first time in, my laptop screen has shrunk in a square (vs the entire screen) so he acknowledged something... but nothing happened on the external monitor.
I tried to detect through my display settings, but I have accidentally changed some display setting until the reception desk shows only 1 monitor, but not selected my real laptop screen or something or changed to be Monitor 2 (even if there is no monitor 1), so when I plug the cable into my laptop suddenly my desktop disappears and it's just a white background screen - and I cannot access the screen of the computer settings or whatever whatever... when the cable is disconnected this setting seems to be normal, so I can not understand how to fix it.
Sorry, I don't know what I'm doing here - please help!
Hello
All Dell monitors are equipped with CD for the drivers. Your laptop may not know the monitor without its driver, it will not install automatically. Please check:
Ringht click an empty space on the desktop,
Click Customize
Click on display
Click on change display settings
You can see the TWO laptop screen and external monitor in there, as shown in the following image:
For the test, I put my Dell monitor is my main screen. If I can't see 2 monitors, you need its driver first and then check the cable.
Kind regards.

overheating and strange smell on Dv7 notebook
I noticed that my system seems to be overheating and has a very peculiar smell. In fact, I thought he had a problem with our oven, so I kept in the basement to check it out. However, it turns out my laptop being. I used air jets to clean the vents, I cleaned the vacuum evacuation holes, but this thing continues to go into overdrive on the fan. It blows constantly, and the laptop is very warm, if not hot, touch. I also noticed that my system is very slow at this point. So, I constantly have to shut it down. Is there something I can do, or don't do that would fix this?
This smell actually makes me cough, and my throat is sore. I really need to find the source and fix it. I use a LOT of my system.
Thanks for your help, and here's my card on my system:
