HP paviliondv6: recover the operating system

I had an attempt to try to dual boot my laptop for windows 10 first and then linux, I accidentally chose the wrong disk during the installation partition and windows 10 startup files as well lost, and now I have no OS on my laptop.
I tried the f11 key at startup for the recovery of the system but it helps all.
Is there anyway I can reset my computer to factory settings... or a way I can recover my files by some recovery point...
As a beginner, it was a naive mistake... but if a solution please say so!

Hello

You are welcome

An option would be to remove the drive HARD, place it in an external enclosure - is an example of the link below - connect to another PC and see if you can access your files.

External 2.5 HARD drive caddy ".

Kind regards

First of all, sorry for my very bad English.

I bought a laptop Toshiba Satellite A300, PC 9 months ago. I had problems with a virus and result is that despite clean-up and disinfection, the computer is still infected and I refused access to the hard drives and regedit.

I thought restoring the operating system factory preinstaled (hopefully, this is the solution and not the formatting) and Barrie told me to check out http://aps2.toshiba-tro.de/kb0/HTD9102IR0000R01.htm

I did it, but the PC it's imposible because there is no files. I don't have a rescue CD (if newbee).

    What can I do?

    Hello

Usually the A300 (European series) has been equipped with HARD drive recovery option which would be you allows to recover the laptop using the files on the HARD drive. But if this is not possible while something went wrong with the maybe HDD it s due to the infection by the virus

In any case if you are not able to recover the laptop using the recovery of HARD drive you need the recovery disc.
You can order it as suggested by resident on the other hand, you can use the MS Windows Vista disk and can download driver Toshiba page.

In this case, it s an American unit. I mean it was designed for the American market and that's why I recommend you research on the Toshiba site for drivers.
It of not necessary to have the recovery CD because you can also install the operating system from the original CD of Microsoft Windows and then you can install the drivers of Toshiba.

But of course the installation of the OS since the recovery CD is very easy and all the drivers, tools and utilities are already preinstalled and are part of the image of Toshiba.

    Hello Bingping :D (Lazy nickname)

Well, first of all you are sure that the drive is dead or it of just not possible to boot from the recovery CD?
Press the C key immediately after booting laptop (by pressing the power button) to boot from the CD drive.

If it doesn t work so try to boot from the original Windows CD. Perhaps the Toshiba Recovery CD is damage. But if it is not possible to boot from a CD so I would say that the reader has a malfunction.

Of course you can replace the car yourself. It of not very difficult, but you must be careful. Not every drive is compatible. The caught player support, you can order the Toshiba ASP in your country.

  • Satellite A60 overheating - not possible to recover the operating system

    Hey there,

I'm almost certain I have a hardware problem with my Toshiba A60. Explorer.exe has stopped running, doing system restore helped for a while, but he just kept happening again. System Restore loses all its points of restore, safe mode did not help at all. I managed to back up everything and went to the Toshiba Recovery CD.

He managed to kill everything on my internal hard drive (or at least enough that it no longer starts), but effective recovery program only happens to about 12% then goes to a black screen, it's the same thing if I try to use expert mode on the recovery CD. Also, the laptop overheats a lot. I am so sure that it's a hardware problem.

In any case, according to the website my warranty expired 08/2005. I just wanted to know if there is any way I can contact Toshiba? Most of the companies at least listen to you if they sold you a product that overheats and breaks (even if he does that the expiration of the warranty).

Yet, it was the closest I could find on a "Contact us" page (other than the all-in-one phone number). Even if I can't get it fixed for free I wanted to know if there was any kind of paid service. Can I get any help? With the contacting Toshiba, I have not the strength to try something new with my laptop now that he can only boot from a CD and that done correctly.

    Thank you very much
    Andrew

    Hello

I contacted Toshiba service partner in my country if I had a problem with my laptop. I think you should also ask the authorized assistance service provider. Don t contact one of Toshiba because most of the time, go to the point service.

I found this link that will help you find the right provider in your country:
    http://www.CSD.Toshiba.com/cgi-bin/TAIS/Su/su_gaspLocator.jsp?PF=true

But if you laptop overheating then you should check the cooling modules, if there is no dust or / and debris. Especially books of overheating because the cooling modules will not twist correctly and the air circulation is compromised.

  • Help to resume the operating system pre-installed with regard

I lost my pre-installed operating system 'Windows 8 Pro' & now I have no way to recover it. My laptop is under warranty and I bought it in January 2014 to Saudi Arabia. What should I do to recover my operating system pre-installed? HP Saudi Arabia can provide me free recovery disk, if I managed to ship I have relatives there for the reception.

You have a choice of where to get a set of recovery disks. The cost is usually about $30,00 USD

    Order a HP recovery disk

It is unlikely that you will be able to get a recovery disk free of charge. A choice of methods to create recovery recovery disk series or usb media has been presented to you when you set up the laptop and unfortunately you chose to not use it.

  • If I put all my files on the C drive that has the operating system and make a recovery of keys one, will I lose my files?

If I put all my files on the C drive that has the operating system and make a recovery of keys one, will I lose my files? drive C whereas the partition that has the operating system and drive D is the lenovo drive that has all the drivers lenovo and all those. Did I lose my files?

Yes, the collection clears all of the C drive and you will lose your files. The solution would be to backup regularly to an external HARD drive and after the key one to also restore the files from the external hard drive.

This has been answered before, if you do a search for "key recovery" it appears among the first results.

I have an old HP Pavilion a1220in PC running Windows XP Media Center Edition. I also found a set of recovery disks in the box.

I've had a lot of problems with my OS now, for most trolling, hanging, etc. So, I ran a few Cache cleaning applications and cleaned. Tried to use Antivirus, but it gets even slower PC, so I left this option. Once he went continuously bootloops, which was the first time I used the recovery disc. There were two options, the only thing that I can remember in their subject is one killed all the data and the other is not.

Once, the score (who wore the recovery image) has been altered and the same problem of bootloop took place again once, so this time I could not choose recover the PC. The only option he gave me was that destroyed all the data.

Now, I want to change the operating system for some versions of Linux. But before that, I want to know that where I want to go back to Windows, will these DVDs help me? I mean, they will be able to install all of the operating system for me?

  • Product key recovery Windows 8.1 AFTER replacement of the operating system

    Hello

I was wondering if there is any way out of this pickle.

I had problems with my pc (mainly the printer spooler errors) of a virus so I decided to do a system restore. Only problem was that I had the pc built for me and the person has used a downloaded Windows 8.1 version (no cd). When I went to restore the operating system he said I was "missing data". As I had no cd to I found a so-called work around where you use the missing data from one version of windows business to fill the gaps and it should allow me to restore the version I had (8.1 regular).

Well low and behold, I load my windows and it is has been replaced by this...

So I tried to reinstall Windows 8.1 using the ISO and the extraction of the key with Magic Jellybean, but, of course, the key had been crushed as well with this useless key.

I called Microsoft to see if they could recover my OLD key that has written more because I was signing on my account when I logged in while I had my version 8.1 ordinary and download of updates. The people at the other end doesn't seem to understand what I was talking and kept transfer me different places when they are confused as to what I was asking (the language barrier I guess).

ALL I NEED IS MY OLD RETURN KEY! If not hidden on my computer somewhere so how to get Microsoft to please look into this also. I even signed up for Windows 10 deployment on my 8.1 original.

    Thanks in advance

    Hello

Ask the person who has built your computer and installed Windows 8.1 where they have bought and what they were doing with the product key.

    See you soon.

  • Use the 'Open with' dialog of the operating system

Whenever I have right click on a file in Xubuntu and choose "open with another application...". "the next dialog box is presented by the operating system:

    https://support.CDN.Mozilla.NET/media/uploads/images/2015-07-29-00-31-36-e5da3e.PNG

That's nice and I like Firefox/Thunderbird to the same behavior. But if these applications do not have a default application assigned the MIME type of that the following dialog box appears:

    https://support.CDN.Mozilla.NET/media/uploads/images/2015-07-29-00-31-45-80c2c1.PNG

I don't want to add MIME types to FF, I want to change the window/dialog box that appears when I want to open a file with an application 'other '.
Is it possible to say that by default, the operating system 'Open with' dialog box should be used?

    Thank you.

you could be wrong here - that points to https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1129873 , that will be fixed in firefox 41 (I have not read all the details it y still)
