    Hello

I checked all the settings, tried to flip short side / long-side, reinstalled the drivers and still it prints on the back backwards! He worked well with Windows 7, but not Windows 10.

Any ideas on what I can do to fix this?

You can try a different driver.  The Deskjet 6840 driver is compatible with the Photosmart 8450 and also provides a number of additional printing options such as resizing and reflection.  To install this driver, follow these steps: go to the folder of devices and printers, right click on the Photosmart 8450, select properties from the printer, advanced, new driver, Next, Windows Update, wait a few minutes for the list to update.  Now, choose HP as manufacturer and select the driver HP Deskjet 6840 (HP), apply.  Then, select the general tab, printing options and set the default values you want, apply, OK.

  • Print spooler dies when I try to print something in Windows 7 using a HP Photosmart 8450.

I've recently updated to Windows Vista Home Preium to Preium to the Windows 7 home page. It was to install an upgrade not a clean place. When I add y printer (HP Photosmart 8450), it adds very well. However, when I try to print something dies the print spooler. I can go in the window services and throw up, but when I print something, it dies again. I hae contacted the HP Support and they said it was a problem with Windows 7.

Windows Update has nothing to do with the upgrade of Windows. • Photosmart 8450 prints only black and white with the new Mac with OS 10.6

I just bought a new Mac with OS 10.6.  (former was OS 10.5)  Now my Photosmart 8450 will print only in black and white.  I installed the single upgrade on the site of HP, no change.

Is there an other update I need?

You want to disable automatic session opening, which may be why it behaves in this way.

    Go to System Preferences

    Go to security

Under "for all accounts on this computer", place a check mark next to 'turn off automatic connection.

In addition, I do not know if you set a password for the test account, but put something simple as 123 - just something / anything.

Once that is done, choose log in the Apple menu, or reboot. This should bring you to the login screen where you can specify the account to enter.

  • HP photosmart 8450 printer: ink and toner issues

It is an older printer that has 3 slots for ink - 97, 99, 100. The 100 is almost impossible to locate and the quality is questionable. Do I need to be able to print?

    Hi @jlou1,

    Welcome to the HP Forums!

I understand that you are having quality problems when printing with your HP Photosmart 8450. I am pleased to see that for you!

According to page 22 of the user guidefor a better print quality, your HP printer recommend you install all retail print cartridges before the date indicated on the box.

So, if you're looking for optimal print quality, then the answer is Yes, you will need this cartridge #100. You might be able to print without the cartridge, but the quality is perhaps not as good.

Hope that answers your question and have a great day!

  • Photosmart 8450: Does the Photosmart 8450 under Windows 7 64-bit card reader work?

Under Windows XP 32 bit card on my Photosmart 8450 network reader appeared as a network drive in Windows Explorer. Now that I've migrated to Windows 7 64 bit I get no network drive and if I put an SD card in the drive I get a 'map' mistake of access on the display panel. It is to be expected with the built-in drivers for Win 7? If so, is there no work around?

    Hello

Thanks for the reply and sorry for not getting back sooner. Been strongly concerned about the end.

I just find the solution to both problems.

    1. the card reader does not accept SD - HC cards. When I put an ordinary SD it worked fine.

2 network drive mapping could not find the printer, even if I can print to it without any problems. I had recently also changed the router and discovered that the IP assigned to the printer was within the range of IP addresses assigned by DHCP. Changed static address to + 1.  Still did not work; posted in printer address was unidentifiable. Sitched printer, pulled ethernet cable outlet, turned on, plugged the ethernet cable. Bingo! The network drive works now.

  • Photosmart 8450: "Device Setup doesn't have all the.

    HP dear Forum and Support:

My HP Photosmart 8450 fails to install on my Dell laptop. Help, please.

I have a Dell Inspiron 640 m laptop computer with Windows XP. I got the printer installed fine, but then I caught a bad virus had to restore my laptop back to the factory settings and then installed Norton Antivirus.

First, I downloaded the Driver on the HP site and connected the driver software Installation the file downloaded.

Then, during Installation, the Installation Wizard told me to connect my printer to the USB Port of my computer, I did.

Then, after a few minutes, the installation wizard told me that "Device Setup has not finished.'

Then I tried whole, this time connect my device to a different USB Port in my laptop with the same failed result. In addition, no a HP printer icon appears in the list of printers in my control panel.

A cause as possible, I can imagine would be if I have Norton Antivirus and Antivirus is blocked somehow, but I highly doubt this possibility, because then it would be a common problem with many users, like HP and Norton products are very common.

    Rakovsky

    P.S. happy holidays.

OK, I gave you a thumbs up.

    Here's what worked for me:

I uninstalled the printer from the "Programs" section in my control panel. Then I reinstalled the printer driver. When I did, I have connected my USB pritner when the installation wizard asked. As was happening, he said that the printer has been detected and this may take a few minutes.

Meanwhile, a message apparently not HP-software popped up because of my operating system, that says hardware is automatically detected by my computer laptop and installed automatically and give me the choice to make my default printer. Of course, rather than interfere with the HP Installation Wizard, I've just left him intact.

A few minutes later, I got the same old "Not completed" message in my installation wizard. Then I clicked on the operating system pop-up message and told to do my Pritner by default.

I think that the installation wizard might at this time asked to click Next in the installation wizard, and if that were the case, then I didn't click it. But in any case the next thing the wizard said was that the device had been installed successfully.

So it's a combination of things that led to the unit being installed successfully.

  • Printer HP photosmart 8450 with error B986666

I'm looking at what I assume it's an electrical problem.  A clear yellow HP 8450 screen with a circle that is interrupted by a vertical line in the upper part.  It is a HP Photosmart 8450 bought in the United States, now used on the European power via a transformer.  I love this printer and it worked perfectly on the transformer for a year and a half.  I accidentally put the transformer with my foot and when I turned it on the message that b9866666 has appeared on the screen HP 8450 with the above illustration.  Can you help me?

I just submitted this problem a few minutes ago.  I forgot to mention that I'm running Windows 7.  Also, there is a red light flashing in the box of memory card.  He is looking for a card?  I've never used with a memory card.  How can I get it back to normal?  Thank you.

  • HP Photosmart 8450 printing error

I have installed my HP Photosmart 8450 (using the hp site because I don't have my original installation disk) & whenever I try to print anything (including a test page) I get an error message...

Or 'Printing on HP photosmart 8400 error series' "S in an error state" printer"" "

My computers (laptop) operating system is: Windows8 (64-bit)

I have already tried to "Troubleshooting" & installed the print/scan doctor & he did his work & said there is nothing to detect & I continued with the test & still can't print.

I know the printer is working because I can put sticks of memory in the printer & print directly from the printer (no pc), but it seems that the computer & printer just are not interconnected

    Hi belleeyes,

I did some research on these errors and found that they can be caused by cables that are not properly connected, corrupt, drivers, incompatible drivers, the printer settings, missing updates and problems with your printer. I recommend looking for defects found in the link below to fix the problem:

After clicking the link, read the introduction, then click on step 1. Check the hardware. If this does not help, go to step 2, etc.

  • HP Photosmart 8450: Printer cartridges

I have a HP Photosmart 8450 printer, which currently has 3 cartridges in it - 97 HP, HP 99 and 100 HP.  I have trouble finding the 100 HP cartridge, which is a gray Photo cartridge.  I do NOT use this printer for printing photos - I just use it for ordinary printing.  My question is "Is there another cartridge that I can use to replace the 100 HP?"

    Thank you!

The 100 cartridge is used only for photo printing.  If you do not print photo I suggest remove the cartridge 100 and leaving this space blank.  For the best economy printing on plain paper, you will want to replace the cartridge 99 photo with a black cartridge 96 as well.

  • Problem of color with Photosmart 8450

I have a Photosmart 8450 for many years and he always printed perfectly.

Recently, I noticed that the colors were totally false when printing pictures on glossy paper - the overall color is mainly yellow and blue ink seems to be completely absent.

This occurs when the photo tray is used for paper 4 x 6 and also with the A4 glossy paper in the main tray.

The same photos printed on ordinary paper are perfect, as is the printing Standard test - all colors are present.

Only so the common factor is the use of glossy paper. I thought that maybe the quality of the paper, but it happens even with HP Premium Photo paper to.

The printer is installed on WIndows 7, which gives the driver, so I can not yet updated. Windows displays no problem driver and WIndows update has no effect.

    Any suggestion is welcome.

Thanks for the link to the troubleshooting page.

Although I had already done a test print, it was only on paper, and he seemed to agree.

So I tried again on paper Photo HP was expecting the worst. Surprisingly, it was the same - nothing was wrong with areas for color and black cartridges (marked as 1 and 2 in figure 1 of the troubleshooting page), but lacked the areas to the left cartridge (marked as the 3 in figure 1 of the troubleshooting page).

    So I rechecked the cartridges:

    Left: 348 color Photoprint

    Center: 344 tricolor

    Right: 339 black

Then I realized what was wrong - the left cartridge was empty.

I'll get a new one and all hope is correct. Thanks again.

  • Photosmart 8450, I need all the cartridges printing black documents?

The Photosmart 8450 printer can accommodate 3 cartridges.  I use this printer to print black-and-white documents.  I wonder if I can buy only a cartridge instead of the 3.  If so, what cartridge should I buy and where should I use?  Thanks for your help.

    Hello

Unfortunately, you will need to buy all the cartridges AND you can configure only black & white print (in grayscale).

    Kind regards.
