  I recently updated my computer to an HP all-in-one running Windows 8.1.

  I used to be able to scan on my HP Photosmart with several options, including "Paper to Searchable PDF File" and "text (OCR) in a RTF file. Unfortunately, these options are not available on my new computer and I can only scan to PDF or TIF format.

  Is there something I need to download to enable me to continue scanning to searchable PDF?

  I noticed that before you upgrade to WIndows 8.1 you had options for 'Document to Searchable PDF File' and 'Text (OCR) to RTF File' with your HP Photosmart B109a. I'm happy to help you!

  Step 1: select the language/region

  Follow the instructions on the screen to control to set the default language and country/region for the product.

• Photosmart B109a-m printer suddenly will not print.

  My Photosmart B109a-m printer suddenly will not print. It worked last night and no connections or settings have been affected since then.  It will not print the test page and the printer Utulity advises that means a problem with the printer, not the computer.  The computer shows it sends data to the printer and indicates that it is printing but nothing happens with the printer.  Any ideas how can I fix?  I'm on an iMac with Lion.

  How is the printer connected?

  Try to reset the printing system:

  -Go to System Preferences > print & Scan
  -Right (or control) click in the rectangle listing your printers and select Reset Printing System.
  WARNING - This will remove ALL your printers!
  -Select the sign more to add a printer. Select the default tab on the top of the window. Search for the printer, select it, and wait until the button 'Add' becomes available. Until it clicks.

  Follow the steps below and check if it solves the problem:

  1 open the Mcafee Virus and Spyware Protection software you are interested in, click on calendar and perform analyses. Click analysis in real time, and then click stop. Select until I restart the PC and confirm by clicking the button turn off.

  Now, try to reinstall the HP software and check if the installation goes as planned.

  If the problem persists, continue following the steps below:

  2. open the dialog box run by clicking on the Windows key and the R key on your keyboard. Type %windir%, and then click OK.
  3. type hpoins*.dat in the search bar at top, if there is that no result rename the extention in old instead of dat. (e.g. hpoins1.old)
  4. type hpwins*.dat in the search bar at top, if there is that no result rename the extention in old instead of dat. (e.g. hpwins1.old)
  5. start the Run dialog box by clicking the Windows key and the R key on your keyboard. Type MSIEXEC /Unregister. in the Run dialog box and click OK.

  7. run the installation file and check all difference.

  I recommend you to perform a power reset the printer.  Unplug the power cord from the printer and the power outlet, then wait 60 seconds. After 60 seconds, plug back in the printer. Make sure that you connect the printer directly to a wall outlet. Make sure to bypass any surge protector or power bar.

  I suggest also download and run the HP print and Scan doctor.

• Impossible to install the software for photosmart b109a

  I need to re - install my photosmart b109a, because during the installation (from downloaded driver) I get the following error:

  Error 1311: Source not found file.

  C:\Users\Downloads\PS_AIO_06_B109a-m_NonNet_Full_Win_enu_140_175\setup\b109a-M1043.cab

  Check that the file exists and that you can access.

  Obviously the file does not exist, but because I just downloaded the software fron the HP site it should be there!

  Hope someone can help me out, I need the Center solutions to scan documents.

  I use the all-in-one Photosmart B109a printer and it was working fine until yesterday. Since yesterday, it prints yellow color. I use the original HP 364 cartridges, the warranty date is OK. Soak the printhead nozzles in the water would help? If he would, how can I do?

  Argyle thanks for your suggestion. This is what I did before posting on the forum, but did not help. So, I wiped the nozzles of the printhead with a soft and rather wet and thus solve the problem.

  Some models of printer with automatic duplexer print not correctly on the back in Vista (or Windows 7 if Vista update).   In these models on the back is printed updside down regardless of the driver configuration.

  attached the zip file has a patch and instructions to fix this problem for the following printers:

  OfficeJet L7300

  Photosmart 2710

  Patches for other models can be found here.

  This patch has been tested good, with more than 1,800 copies of this fix distributed by e-mail since April 2007.

  The zip file contains two files

  OJ7410.PDF contains detailed instructions for applying the correction.  Opening this file requires Adobe Reader or a similar pdf viewer, available for free download.

  To apply the patch download the here attached zip file.  Extract the files in the %Temp% directory, and then open the OJ7410.pdf file and follow the instructions.  If you have trouble finding the folder directory you can find this directory by opening your 'computer' folder and type folder in the address bar.

  In fact, the driver of Windows 7 made good automatic duplex printing - no patch is required for Windows 7 [edit - this is true for fresh installation.  For the versions of Vista the patch may be used for Windows 7].  The default value for some printers, is that the duplexer is 'not installed', please check the Duplex Printing Troubleshooting Guide for Vista.  In Windows 7, the procedure is slightly different, in the folder printers click twice on the 7410, double-click the icon 'Customize your printer', device settings and under installable options go "Duplex for two back" on installed, OK.

  I have a photosmart printer 7520 with printing. It is installed on a windows 7.

  When I try to print documents using automatic duplex printing, is it a way I can change the course of the back of the page, I try to print folding brochures and the back of my pages are backward. I can't find any setting to change the course of the back of the pages so that I can bend my books and read from page 1 to page whatsoever, without having to put the book backwards and turn the pages.

  Any help would be greatly appreciated

  I bought a duplexer (p/n C8995A) for my Photosmart 7760 printer. It did not come with instructions. I do not know how to attach to the printer so I can print on both sides of the paper. Does anyone know where I can get a user manual or can someone tell me how to use this accessory?

  You are certainly able to scan an entire document using your Photosmart B109 printer, and also you can scan multiple pages into a single file. To analyze the whole area, you'll need access to Solution Center software on your computer in scanning settings to do. Regarding scanning of multiple pages in a single file, see section of the FAQ in the guide below.

• Photosmart C6180 module duplex not recognized in Windows 7 64 bit

  Duplex module has been recognized and worked perfectly in Vista but there is no option to add in 64-bit Windows 7.

  I discovered a few double-sided modules which are default to off on Win 7.

  Made all the bits to get drivers for 5600 and printer works but it is not an option in the properties of the double print side... only use manual. looked at in the previous advice on the forum and to 7760 drivers are not available for printers added even when day printers option is used... any ideas?

  Make sure that the automatic duplex printing option is selected, and check to see if that can help you:

  Enter the control panel > devices and printers.
  Right-click the printer icon, and then click printer properties.
  Click the device settings tab.
  As installed in Duplex Automatic Two-Sided accessory and then click OK to save the change.
