  Hi all

  I'm retiring my all-in-one HP Photosmart C3140 printer/scanner. Is there a way to reset it completely, reformat or erase all the settings and memory on the machine, especially all preliminary scans?

  I scanned documents with the bank details, social security numbers, etc. on the device, and want to be sure, that it is perfectly clean before giving. (That, or I guess I'll take a hammer to the old fashioned way!)

  Hello.  Recently, I had a few problems of "transport jam" on my printer Photosmart C3140.  It seemed a lot of old ink had accumulated internally, so I disassembled the printer and cleaned as much ink as I could.  After reassembling, the problem of transport occurs jam is more.  However, when I tried to print a test page, the fire ' load paper ' came.  I put my usual diet of paper on the tray of food and tried to print again, but it's the same thing.  It seems that the printer detects not the paper that is in the status bar.  Any suggestions on what I should look for?  Your comments would be greatly appreciated.  Thank you!

  Everything worked fine until I updated to Snow Leopard 10.6.2 (apparently... I can't think of anything that went wrong) and now when I try to scan using the software of my MacBook HP Device Manager, I got this error message. Printer and copier functions work fine. Help!

  Printer: HP Photosmart C3140 all in one.

  In 10.6 you do not use the HP software to scan, use Preview or Capture of Image.  Search for your printer on the left column, select it and go from there.

  If this does not work, there are other things we can do.

Everything worked fine until I installed a new router - Linksys router Cicso Wireless-N-Home. My roommate has a wireless computer, not a laptop. He installed the router - my printer goes through the motions as if it will print even if nothing prints. I tried to locate the my HP Photosmart C3140 all in one on my computer is not listed. My old printer that I use to have installed HP Photosmart C3100 series Advanced Document list my computer. There are at least 5 items listed in printing (QC) how can I get my C3140 reinstalled? It's so frustrating. I really want to hire a geek to fix. With instructions step by step I hope that you can provide, I am confident, I can do it myself. Sorry for TMI (too much info)

• Photosmart C3140: Don't scan after update to the Mavericks on Mac

  After updating my Mac to the Mavericks, now my printer not scan.  It will print, however. But when I try to scan, I get this error message:

  Cannot perform the analysis because another program has control of the HP imaging device. Try the following steps: start the program again. Close all programs that might be using the device. Restart the computer.

  I did everything above. I have also turned off the printer and unplugged for a few minutes. I rebooted several times. Thanks for any help you can offer!

  Thanks for your help. I have a successful solution of Apple that I wanted to share with other people who may have this problem - it involves an impression through the preferences system, a bit bulky but not too expensive:

  Go to system preferences

  Printers, Scanners &

  Choose Scan from Print/Scan above the name of the printer

  Open scanner

  In the dialog box that appears:

  Make sure that "scan to" say where you want to be saved, otherwise you can not know where TI saved.

  Press Scan.

  (If the dialog box opens to the top immediately, please be patient.)

  When I try to launch the HP Solution Center, get the error like - "HP Solution Center cannot work because your device installation is not complete. Please connect the USB cable or re-run the Setup program from the installation to a network installation CD. "If it does not complete the installation, or you do not have the CD, access the HP help files by clicking on the Start Menu.

  HP Solution Center worked very well with Windows8. Windows updates updated Windows8.1 and Solution Center stopped Frank.

  Any suggestions to fix this? What is the Windows8.1 question upgraded or because of something else?

  Patch installed.  Problem was intermittent.   I'll go after that experience.

  I want to use the HP Solution Center to scan so that I can scan multiple pages into a single file.  I recently got a new computer with Windows 7; on my old computer with XP, I could use the windows scanner to achieve this functionality (windows 7 scanner works but will only scan simple pages).

  I have a hp photosmart C3140 with windows 7.  The printer thought it was paper for a long time, so I don't know if the printing software works.  I use it as a scanner.

  After getting my new computer, I downloaded the version of the recommended on the site of hp Solution Center.  It has problem in figure 3 shows http://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c01928924 'you can't cancel scanning the computer.

  Y at - there no fix for this in order to use the solution Center and not to scan one page per file in the windows scanner?

  Uninstall the software and drivers for the printer and then re-install.

  Can you explain if this happens with all pages or only PDF files open with Firefox 29,0? If it's from PDF files, I have been informed that this a bug that will be fixed by an update published Friday morning time Pacific.

  A new firmware to restore the ePrint feature are available on hp.com, however it is currently available for MS Windows :

  I don't know if / when it wil become available for Mac OS, that's why I suggest you get a Windows PC and update of the printer, if you can have such an or can borrow a laptop to a member, family, etc.
