[HP Photosmart C4480] Reset NVM

Hello

I have always been satisfied of this printer, simple to install and to truly "plug and play".

I recently started to print more often and all of a sudden the printer complained "Incompatible cartridge".

It was very strange because I have a 50 page document printing and the error occurred in the 9th or 10th page without no reason.

I tried changing the cartridge with another, their cleaning and restart the printer: no change.

I googled the error message and found to be a "semi-Full Reset" could help... without success.

I tried all the combinations to enter "special Key Combo" and found several menus.

I found a few jokes like 'Underware' and ' Fix me! " (I love Easter eggs) but also some very promising elements as 'clear the nvm,' several 'disp ID xXx', 'test', 'against', 'enter serial number... "

As my title, my last attempt to fix my problem is to reset the permanent memory.

Do is to reset all parameters to their default value and the printer should return to the same State when I bought it.

The fact is that when I "erase the NVM", the printer displays the following message: "it is not the default serial number. Cannot reset NVM. "

I checked the serial number printed on the back of the printer and compared to what "serial number" (information menu) displays.

They match, but the latter is longer and I do not know where the last 4 digits.

I found the menu I want to change the serial number, but as I do not know what series 'default' to enter, I'm stuck.

So I would like to know what serial number of entry or, more generally, how to reset my printer's nonvolatile memory.

If the instructions depends on the serial number of my printer, you can send me a PM.

I hope that my message is quite clear and perhaps help others solve this infamous error "Incompatible cartridge".

If you need more information, let me know.

Kind regards

I finally found an easy way to reset the permanent memory.

I put an SD card in the printer, which is held on the Cancel (red X) and the power button and press the blue, gray and green (in that order) to have access to the menu 'Underware '.

There, I went into the menu "photo" and pressed OK the "dump nvm = > file ' point.

I put the SD card in my laptop and edited the NVM_0001.DMP file (in the NVM2 folder) with a hex editor.

I replaced every value of 0 for the emptying of the NVM was filled with zeros.

I renamed the file NVM_RAW. DMP and put the map SD card in the printer.

I did the same thing as above to access the menu "photo", but instead of dumping the NVM in a file, I did the opposite with ' file dump = > nvm.

I rebooted the printer and that is!

NB: It does not solve the issue of the "Incompatible cartridge", but at least, the internal counters are now at 0!

  • Incompatible cartridge (HP Photosmart C4480)

I don't have the luxury of wasting my time here, I'm supposed to write an article for an academic journal, but let's do it anyway. because I'm pretty annoyed for this give actually the few minutes that I let myself before another staff meeting.

A week ago, my printer (HP Photosmart C4480, almost a year now) began to give me the message that my cartridge is incompatible. The cartridge has been about a month or two old that I think, and I printed with her until he was about ¾ of his initial resistance. I followed all the steps troubleshooting gave me; reset, cleaning, I even had my old cartridge rest to see if this one has worked and that he could solve the problem (it worked, one that came with the printer, but it does not solve the problem). Apart from the replacement of the cartridge or get a new printer, it is not a way to solve this problem.

But get a new cartridge doesn't just prolong the problem without actually solving. Now, it has become more obvious to me that there is a general problem of HP printer with error message "incompatible cartridge". This forum alone shows many examples unresolved for anyone who cares to look for them for a few seconds. The result is that people simply buy or request for new cartridges, and then, either immediately or after a certain while, the error recurs.

It was an a little more vital product, like say a car, it must be recalled. If you take a look at the Amazon comments, they have been regularly in downhill, becoming more and more negative, the way a few months ago. I don't know if it's a software thing you guys has changed, or if your hardware or cartridges are doomed to failure. Maybe you send a bad batch of cartridges, but that would not explain why recurring popular printers fail with the same message.

I am currently waiting for a response to a request for assistance. As I shine since other posts about this problem, you can not give a) an explanation of this debacle, b) a solution that does not involve the purchase of new cartridges to replace a cartridge that was perfectly fine before mounting them in your cartridge deathtraps. If there is anything that can be done does not mean to ignore the problem, spending more money on more product failure, but actually goes one way to solve the problem, I have he would hear gladly.

OK laddie and gentlemen listen hear is how to fix this error message "incompatible cartridge" boring.
Step 1: turn off your printer
    Step2:turn on your printer
Step3:hold to the bottom of the button works / stop and the 'x' button - you will receive a message prompting you to "enter special key combination.
    Step 4interested "blue-> green-> ORDER BECAUSE gray!
Step 5NCE "support rhLxFN0810CR" message is displayed 'blue' push the button once until appears the menu information
Step 6interested 'ok' now using 'blue' new button scroll until you see "checksum for repo I input data ' appears
STEP7interested ok and a code number will be displayed (note code will change each time this spice is used)
Step8nce code appears press 'x' 3times to return to the main display screen. You are now ready to print as usual! if the print head is allowed to return before next print this process should be repeated every time print head reset

  • Impossible to analyze using Photosmart C4480 all-in-One

I use the Photosmart C4480 all-in-One on a Mac, 10.6.8.  Impression always worked without problem but digitization has never worked.  Today, I realized that the software provided with the printer is by OS 10.5 (HP Scan Pro always gave me an 'unknown error' popup).  I downloaded version 10.6 on the HP site and installed on the old software.  I opened the new HP Scan, select a profile and press Scan and the program froze and I had to force quit.  I tried several times and it kept happening.  The all-in-one has a screen where you can scan a computer to the unit, and I tried that as well.  The program "Open in Preview" open on my computer, and the screen on the all-in-one read "Scanning" for a short time but then returned to the menu analyze.  Nothing happened on my computer or the scanner.  I decided to uninstall all the HP software and reinstall version 10.6, where crushing the 10.5 version had caused these problems, but after doing so I got the same results scanning HP and analysis on the all-in-one.  Thanks a bunch if you can help!

  • Not compatible HP Photosmart C4480 printer ink cartridge

HI - first time here - I have a HP Photosmart C4480 printer and have recently installed a new black ink cartridge - genuine HP 350XL - bought in Tesco and already used a few times.  I printed a page today, and when I went to another printing, the printer says that the cartridge was incompatible.  I had not touched the printer between the prints. I tried out both cartridges and resettlement but still get the same message.  Also tried to turn again printer.

I could understand if there was a problem with the cartridge and it was rejected as soon as I installed, but does not understand why this happens between the printing of pages.

    Any help would be appreciated

    Thank you
