  I have a Photosmart 1215 and had it work on W7 for years using the 990c driver. Recently, I had to reload W7 and now I need to get the printer working again. I installed the 990 c driver, but I can't print. I remember there was more that just install a driver from 990c when my 1215 is plugged in, but I don't remember the 'hoops' I had to jump through. The link you have above has been moved and is not going to a procedure. Can anyone help?

  I hope someone can help me.  I just installed Windows 7 RC on my desktop (Vista Home Premium replacement). After plant, I went to insert my Photosmart installation disk and the process has started but was quickly arrested saying the drivers and software were not compatible with Windows 7 and that the installation could not proceed.  I checked the Hp website to see whther or not a driver/software compatible for my printer was available but cannot be found.  Then, I contacted HP support by phone, once again without success and the technician suggested I try the support forum.

  Here, I hope that one of you geniuses out there can help me and suggest how I can get my fully operational printer under Windows 7.  I must stress that I am able to print but am not able of peut, copies or faxes that I had not have the all in one software.  I'd appreciate any help in this matter.

  Thanks for the tips of Dexter.  I followed your instructions but I still can't install the software on the installation disc, or that I was able to download the software and drivers from the HP Support site. However, being the one that is not easily discouraged, I even once followed your instructions using the installation disc but rather os affecting the Vista SP1 compatibility mode I instead decided to try to Windows XP and it installed perfectly without hassle and now I have my printer works according to the pre Windows 7.  Thank you for taking the time to walk me through the steps.  It was greatly appreciated.

• I have a Photosmart C7280 and s question about a decision of the network.

  I currently have two workstations connected to a router via ethernet cables.  They are connected to a single (not HP) printer with USB cable through a USB switch.  Two laptops to connect to the wireless router.  I could replicate the existing configuration with the C7280, but the idea of a network in which the laptops were allowed to participate is very attractive.  One of the laptop is running Windows version 7, the other computers running Linux.  If I go for an ethernet network, the laptops will be able to connect to the printer via the router?  If I go for a wireless network, desktop computers will be able to connect to the printer via their ethernet cables?  A couple of Wireless USB adapters are a possibility.

  I understand that you have questions about networking with your printer.

  Yes, wired network connections will be no problem to connect to a wifi connected printer.  Most routers bridge cable and wireless to work as a single network.  There are some routers between wired and wireless networks, but these are before any company grade routers and network equipment.

  A wired desktop computer will be able to print to a wireless printer as long as it is connected via the same router.  Conversely, a wireless computer can print to a printer connected Ethernet as long as it's the same router.

  I recommend using a network for the printer configuration, if possible, to avoid printing problems.  USB hubs have been known to cause printing problems, although this isn't always the case.

  Found the answer on another post...

  (1) in Device Manager, open "printers".

  (2) remove "unknown device" if present

  Restart Windows 10 update, problem solved!  Just as simple as that.

• Photosmart C7280 and Mountain Lion

  My printer is connected wireless to iMac running on Mountain Lion. No particular reason, the computer can not find printer. Tried to delete the printer and reconnect with the IP address, but still no joy. All of the suggestions. I tested the printer and it is very well connected to the network.

  I would try a complete restart of network.

  Unplug the router.

  Press the power button to turn on the printer, if it is not already turned on.

  With the product, unplug the power cord at the back of the printer.

  Unplug the power cord from the wall outlet.

  Plug the router back in and wait for the lights on it to stabilize.

  Plug the power cord for the printer into the wall outlet.

  Reconnect the power cord to the back of the printer

  If the product does not light by itself, press the power button to turn it on.

  The user manual is useless - it is said: "highlight"Scan to computer"on unity...» Well there is NO "Scan to computer" option in the menu Scan - I tab through them all 3 times.

  Believe it or not I'm fairly literate PC but can not find this very user friendly device at all.

  On installing the cartridge of the printer said it is not configured for this cartridge and it accepts 02 ink cartridges.  These are not readily available in the United Kingdom.

• HP Photosmart C7280 solutions Center does not work after Windows 7 32 bit upgrade

  I recently updated my operating system from Windows Vista to Windows 7 (32 bit).  Before the upgrade, my C7280 worked fine using the center of Solution and in my home wireless network.  After the upgrade to Windows 7 and download and install PS_AIO_02_Net_Full_Win_WW_130_140.exe, version 13.1.0, Solution Center does not work.

  At the opening of the solution Center, it displays disconnected printer.  Using the Wireless Setup Wizard, the printer connects to the network.  I can open the Solution Center and it works very well for about 3 seconds and then goes to the printer disconnected mode.

  I uninstalled and reinstalled the software update for Windows 7 package C7280 repeatedly and with the same results.  I downloaded and installed the patches and still no change.

  I finally had to restore my computer to original operating system.  After the computer back to its original configuration, I used the original to HP Photosmart printer disk to reinstall the driver for Windows Vista.  Everything worked as before.  Then I ran the Windows 7 Upgrade Advisor.  Yet once, he told me that the HP Photosmart C7280 printer was not compatible with Windows 7.  I uninstalled the printer driver and run Windows 7 upgrade advisor.  This time, I have not received any message about the C7280 printer.

  I installed upgrading to Windows 7 (32-bit), and then upgrade the HP Photosmart C7280 for Windows 7 32-bit driver.  Everything works fine now.

  I tried four times to reinstall the photosmart C7280 on windows 7 (64-bit) computer software after problems with double-sided printing. Software downloaded OK. When installing got message "the not found fichier...\Setup\hpzpr140.exe. Auto-generated error report. Sent to HP and a fix sent on my desk. After following the instructions and the installation at this point was then cleaned. Then got the message "HP Installer uninstaller has stopped working". No solution.

  I've never had this problem before with the previous re - installs. Any ideas?

  Lets try to use uninstall L4. Of the Original installation CD:
  
  1. Insert the CD in the drive and then cancel Setup
  
  2. open my computer and click right then on the CD from the drive and select open
  
  3 open the Util folder
  
  4 open the CCC folder
  
  5. run the L4uninstall.exe
  
  6. once the uninstall is complete, restart the computer
  
  7 run the Accessories\ System Tools Disk Cleanup
  
  8. download and install the latest version of Adobe flash player

  10. run the download to reinstall the printer
  
  If the software has been downloaded and extracted to your system:
  
  1. type % temp % in the field of race

• HP Photosmart C7280

  I bought this printer not more than one year ago and, with the Windows 7 evaluation, was an indication that it would work after that I changed my Windows Vista.  Now, I can not access the program through Windows 7 on this computer.  HP even told me to delete and reload the program.  I deleted and subsequently could not recharge, so I did a system restore to before the time of withdrawal from this program and I hope that it is once again on this computer.  I tried a technical support by phone, chat AND e-mail.  None of the suggestions worked, and most of the suggestions were not even relevant to my problem, as if the technicians did not listen to me.  Download software/drivers of HP recommended for Windows 7 expires and won't work, so I ordered this "Download" for sending two-day Fed - Ex and there 03/12/09 in the evening.  I don't even know if this software will make a difference.  I like the Photosmart C7280 and it is much too 'new' in the trash.  How can I still use this printer with my Sony Vaio now running with Windows 7?  Also, I use this printer as a wireless with this computer.  I know that there is nothing wrong with my HP printer because another computer with the same printer program that uses Windows XP works with it.  Help, please.

  I had the same problem and talked to the CS.  They had me change the printer name (what you want is fine) in the control panel so the program recognizes the difference between the fax and the printer.

  Printer properties (about 4 down, not only at the bottom of the list properties)

  Change of name of the printer in the first box (I just named mine HP Office Jet)
