  • Failed hard drive, HELP! I want my data of user account

My hard drive failed last Saturday (September 3) and local repair technicians told me it was a critical failure because she refuses to boot into Windows no matter what. The drive itself ran Windows XP Pro (SP3) and was in perfect health until this random failure.

I can still read its data if I connect to another computer and treat it like a disc Add on, so I took the oppritunity back up all my data and program installers who have survived in a temporary folder on the other computer. The only thing I want now is my data of user such as custom settings account, that I had.

Where Windows stores my custom settings of data of the real of the user (desktop theme, desktop wallpaper settings, settings of the record, things like that)? So I can upgrade to Windows 7, I want to be able to migrate the information from my account in XP as well, but obviously I can't do the normal with the Windows easy transfer program track if I can't get my boot drive in Windows.

I finally got all the stuff I needed to get my computer running under W7. I also transferred what data I could off the old drive as an external slave coast. So I got what I needed.

It turns out that files AND Windows 7 itself modern motherboard BIOS seems smart enough to identify a failing hard drive. They both harassed me that he is basically junk and I have to back up what I have on this matter as soon as POSSIBLE. That and I certainly couldn't coax the wrong disc when starting windows. However, I copied what I needed. So I can't fix it or use it further.

  • How can I recover the modules and their data from a failed HARD drive (the lost BONE areas, but data files are readable)?

The HARD drive that was my OS (Windows XP Pro SP3) failed and lost quite a few areas which are essential for the operating system running. Other data is still readable. A got another HARD drive and installed Windows XP SP2, Firefox and other programs. I was able to retrieve the bookmarks, security certificates, and other profile information using the information found in bandages.

None of them addressed how do to recover the modules or their data. Specifically, there are several large, elegant scripts that took months to develop and customize.

Articles related to migration and other do not work for me because they require the old copy of FF is functional, that is not because the OS on this HARD drive is damaged. Is it possible to recover these data, similar (or not) about how I could get the other profile info?

Have you copied the entire folder C:\Documents and Settings\username \Application Data\Mozilla\Firefox\ on the old drive?
If this is not the case, can you?
If so, make a copy and save this folder just in case.

If so, you could replace this folder on the new facility by \Profiles\ [with your profiles inside] folder and the profiles.ini file [delete all other files / folders that may also be in the folder "Firefox"] -and then replace with the same folder named from the old failed drive. Note that you will lose what you already have with the new installation / profile!
Your profile folder contains all your personal data and customizations, including looking for plugins, themes, extensions and their data / customizations - but no plugins.
But if the user logon name is different on the new facility that the former, any extension that uses an absolute path to the file in its prefs will be problems. Easily rectified, by changing the path to the file in the file prefs, js - keep the brake line formatting intact. The extensions created after the era of Firefox 2.0 or 3.0, due to changes in the 'rules' for creating extensions usually are not a problem, but some real old extensions that need only "minor" since that time can still use absolute paths - even though I have not seen myself since Firefox Firefox 3.6 or 4.0.

View instead of 'Modules' I mentioned the 4 types of 'Modules' separately - Plugins are seen as 'Add-ons', but they are not installed in the profile [except those mislabelled as a "plugin", when they are installed via an XPI file], but rather in the operating system where Firefox 'find' through the registry.

Note: Migration articles can tell you do not re - use the prefs.js file, due to an issue that I feel is easily fixed with a little inspection and editing. I think you can manage that my perception is that you have a small shovel in your tool box, if you encounter a problem you are able to do a little digging and fixing problems with the paths to files - once you have been warned.

Overall, if you go Firefox 35 35 or even Firefox 34 to 35, I don't think you will run in all the problems that you can not handle [that I cross my fingers and "hope" that I'm not on what it is obvious].

With regard to the recovery of the 'data' for individual extensions - there are many ways that extension developers used to store their data and pref. The original way should save in prefs.js or their own file RDF in the profile folder. While Firefox has been developed more, developers started using their own files in the profile folder. And because Mozilla has started using sqlite database files in Firefox 3.0, Mozilla extended their own use of sqlite, as have extension developers.
Elegant uses the file stylish.sqlite to store 'styles', but something in the back of my mine tells me that 'the index' maybe not in this file with the data. But then again, I can be confusing myself a question I had with GreaseMonkey awhile back where I copied the gm_scripts folder in a new profile and with already installed GreaseMonkey but with no script. These GM scripts worked, but I could not see them or modify them - they do not appear in the user GM extension interface window in Firefox.

  • Designjet 5500: HP Designjet 5500 - failed hard drive?

My next plotter Designjet 5500 has the error message: "failed to start.  Error: 1f50007.  Hard drive failure. "I took out the hard drive.  Then I took a good hard drive on another plotter Designjet 5500 I have here (he has other issues, but the hard drive is in good health) and installed it in the abacus of 1st.  He repeats the same error message (i.e., "failed to start.  Error: 1f50007.  Hard drive failure. "I took that hard drive back out and put back in 2nd tracer and it always starts very well.

For me, this means that probably the hard drive is not really the problem with my 1 tracer because I put a hard drive perfectly well in and he said that the hard drive has failed.  It seems that something has no who is now saying the plotter that there a defective hard drive when it's not the real problem.  Someone else this experience?  Pointers for me on what to look for or what would be my next step in troubleshooting?  Not covered in the manual on the defective hard drive errors.  Only how to remove and install a.

    Thank you.  Erica

Unplug the printer.  Loosen the screws and remove the print server plug at the back of the printer (he shoots just to the outside), then take the back cover off long.  Look for the two lights, amber and one green on the circuit on the left.  Lights are on the top left of the Board of Directors (main PCA).  If you do not have both lights then it is most likely doesn't have the power of power supply Board (the circuit board to the right of the hard drive).  My experience has been that when the power Board fails, the error you see is that the hard drive will not start.

If you have already tried a known good hard drive and have the same defect, it is most likely the problem.

    Tell us what you find.

  • Satellite 2450 S203: SMART HDD can fail - HARD drive change?

    Hello

My Satellite 2450 S203 seems to run slow extremeley (20 minutes to start windows!). I get a warning in the Manager of Toshiba hard disk may fail soon.

I guess I should do a new hard drive? Is it possible to fix it? If not, what type of replacement hard drive should get?

    Thank you
    Andreas

    Hello Andreas

If the HARD drive has a mechanical problem it aren't there has not much to do and you should buy a new HARD drive. But before this I recommend you to do the clean install of OS and see how the laptop runs. After the long period of use and many facilities that the OS will be slower and slower, but 20 minutes is definitely too long for the start-up procedure.

According to specifications specification must be 40 GB of HARD drive. I'm sure that for the upgrade, you can use 60 GB HARD drive. On this HARD drive replacement is quite simple and you can do it alone. If you n t do this please write again.

  • Tecra 9100: Delayed write failed - hard drives on their way?

    Hello again,

I am a member of the Club feared messages error "delayed write failed" and some of that my hard drives are to blame.

These errors pop - up when a large enough facility is in place, or whenever my system is written something great for my hard drives (which I might have to wait a while to complete). It happened before installing the battery Bluetooth Toshiba. My laptop has finally frozen during installation and all I could do was to move the cursor. 30 minutes in the installation, I get several of these stupid error messages. They say ' delayed write failed - file C:/xxxxx/xxx/xxxx was not justified perhaps due to a connection or hardware problem "(or something like that). When the message window there is almost no way to escape in out makes a power off. But when I turn on the back, I get the blue screen of death that checks my record of inconsistencies. It is very annoying and disturbing because it means probably that my hard drives should be cracking up.

After doing the search several times on the issue, I know it's my hard drives fault for sure. I have two hard drives; They both give me error messages. They must be on their way, after all I bought this 2nd hand computer laptop and they made noises strange "at delay." Recently, I noticed once they made a "beep" "beep". Never heard before so it cannot be good.

In any case, I think that I need new hard drives. Can someone recommend me one or two who are used to give me these error messages (and are relatively cheap at least 30 GB)? Thank you

P.S when I opened the PC health since the Toshiba Management Console it says '' drive S.M.A.R.T (disk 0) may fail soon. '' Ouch.

    Hello

Each HARD disk with adequate material specifications may work on the Tecra 9100.
The HARD drive should support an interface IDE (ATA-5) and should not be larger than 60 GB.
I'm sure that BIOS Tecra 9100 will support 30 GB, 40 GB and perhaps also the 60 GB.
But the larger sizes of HARD drive might not be recognized by the BIOS correctly.

By the way; You can make a call to the Toshiba authorized service provider in your country and could order the compatible HARD drive.
In this case, you will be sure that the drive is supported and runs without any problem to 100%.

  • How can I recover the files of failed hard drive

    Hello

Apparently, my hard drive failed on my HP.  I'm running Windows XP with the latest service pack.
I get a black screen that says "disk error, press ctrl + atl + del to restart".
Given that it is a 7 year old computer, I don't see the need to put a lot of effort in intensive care there.
But I would like to get some of the files on the hard drive.
Can anyone suggest a way to access the contents of the hard drive?  I would like to get some Word, excel, PDF files.  Nothing major.
    Thank you
    AS

    Hello

If the drive has indeed failed then you need professional services which are very expensive. Best
method would be to contact your local computer store, the other his own service in-house, and have
check out them the disc. Eventually, they can recover your files and they know all local professional
    services available in your area.

  • HPE 570 T operating system failed - hard drive may be gone

I have a HPE 570 T where exploitation would not start this weekend.  I got this computer a year and change.  I couldn't do it via safe mode and Windows 7 Startup Repair won't work.  I was able to reimage the hard drive and I was about one hour and was some windows updates and it died again.  Now it wont let me reimage and in BIOS diagnostics I get an error injury messages that the hard drive has failed.  I think that the hard drive is dead, or the SATA connection is dead. I don't know what else to do.

I read that the SATA ports some time fail over time on these motherboards.  I wonder if I can buy an SSD and SATA III PCI card and start from scratch.   I I'm OK to do on this system.  If fail built-in SATA ports that could solve my problem in the long term.

Any advice?  My computer is down for the count.

    Hello

First of all check the warranty status for your HP HPE - 570 t.  Some of the HP PC come with a one year warranty more.

Secondly, almost everyone buys a PC using a credit card.  Check with your credit card company and see if your credit card covers electronics for an additional year beyond the warranty period.  Several credit card companies provide this coverage free of charge.

Start your PC in diagnostics (f2) and run diagnostics.
