HP ProBook s 4540: increase in HP Probook 4540 s ram

Hello

I have 4 GB of Ram in one slot that came with the laptop...

IAM plans to increase, but I've heard that have 16 GB (8 GB in each slot) will cause a lag in performance...

So I guess that adding 8 GB ram in the second slot while keeping the other 4 GB will be perfect for a total of 12 GB...

Right?

Thank you...

Hello:

If you are running a 32-bit operating system that you have listed in your message, then you have the maximum amount of memory installed that Windows can use right now.

You must run the operating system 64-bit for windows to "see and use" more than 4 GB of memory.

I just installed 2 x 8 GB memory in my laptop HP 350 G1 and I didn't notice a decrease in performance.

As fact on W7, the memory of experience index increased 7.4 to 7.5 when I went from 8 GB to 16 GB of memory.

The best advice I can give you if you fear that the PC will "slow down" If you install 2 x 8 GB of memory would be to add another chip memory of 4 GB in the empty slot.

This way the memory will run in mode faster DDR (double rate).

Right now in your laptop memory is running on the slower (one-time transfer speed) mode CSD, and if you add a 8 GB chip, it will always run on the SDR mode.

You need matching sizes of memory in each slot runs in DDR mode.

Yet once... just add memory if you use, or plan to run a 64-bit operating system.

  • ProBook 440 G2: RAM Upgrade will void the warranty?

    Hello

After a lot of dilemma, I buy THISlaptop.

My main concern is the "on-site 5-year guarantee" it comes with.

This laptop has now only 4 GB of RAM. I want to add an another 4 GB myself.

In doing so, it will take Bay opening to service the laptop.

Open myself for a RAM upgrade will void the warranty?

In addition, no one knows how much total RAM this computer supports? How many slots is there?

The page of the product didn't.

I tried to contact HP technical support by email, and I have to enter a serial number to reach them. I entered the serial number of my laptop current (and also a probook), but I think that the agent did not read my email properly. Instead of answering my question, he sent me a link to extend the warranty on my laptop today.

    Thank you...

    Hello

According to the Manual, it has 2 slots:

See Page 2, 3, 47, 48, to get the instructions before and during the replacement process. Even if it is a simple procedure if you do not have confidence in replacement, it gives to the HP service center, they will do it for you. Opening the door to service memory will not void the warranty - but if you daamage something in the replacement process, it will void the warranty.

Please get the exact configuration and preference of the same brand (like this one in the slot) of RAM, mentioned in the manual.

You can run this toolto know the details of the installed RAM sticks & moving forward with the purchase of od sizes appropriate sticks needed to make it to 8 GB in total.

If your computer runs 64 bit OS, you can buy 8 GB (cheap) or you can buy 2 x 2 or 1 x 1 GB if you wish for 32 bit OS.

  • HP probook 455: upgrade ram

    I am in the process of 8 g pc3l - 12800 s 1600 ram, is possible to update to16g

As I can see from your product model, there
DDR3L (1600 MHz) SDRAM. With SODIMM two slots supporting dual-channel memory; 2GB, 4GB and 8GB SODIMM.
So I guess that you can upgrade to 16 GB max

    Excerpt from the CV: (http://h20564.www2.hp.com/hpsc/doc/public/display?docId=emr_na-c03775329):

    Standard:
    DDR3L (1600 MHz) SDRAM
Two SODIMM slots supporting memory dual channel
    2GB, 4GB and 8GB SODIMM
    Maximum:
Expandable to 16384 MB with option 8192 MB SODIMM in slots 1 and 2
    Dual channel:
Maximized dual channel performance requires SODIMM of the same size and speed in the two memory slots.

PS: I would advice you contact HP through the HP Support Technical Support Wizard at least once before upgrading your RAM to ensure compatibility with your specific product number

  • HP Probook s 4710 Ram upgrade

Hello I have a proobook Hp s 4710 with win7 ultimate 64 bit and I want to upgrade my Ram.

Currently, according to CPU - z I 2 GB 800 MHz. By searching hp.com and the net I discovered that some 4710 s take other ddr3 and ddr2.

So I chated with an HP expert 2 weeks ago and he said that my laptop run maximum 8 GB at 1333. And I went bought 2x2gb 1333...

When I tried to install that I fell on a DDR2 socket! Obviously, the ddr3 was not appropriate in this medium.

So my question is---> what is happening? Everywhere I look on the Net some say DDR2 and DDR3 of others. How is that possible? The laptop has other modules Drr3 media I did not find?

    My S/N {retired privacy} and P/n is NX629EA #AKD

    Please help because I'm depserate!

    Hello

Thank you very much for the link, I don't really know what is happening here also. It says on page #3 DDR2 but on another page (s) he says DDR3. The manual also shows DDR2 as in my previous post and you have discovered it only supports DDR2. Maybe more later models supported DDR3. Anyway, back to your question, I know Crucial RAM works but don't know others. I'm sorry.

    Kind regards.

  • Are there ways to increase the use of Win 7 RAM paging/caching memory?

I have an Intel I5 Ivy Bridge CPU, Win 7 64 bits Home Premium OS, 16 GB of RAM and GPU Nvidia GTX 550 it to 1 GB DDR5 memory.  I run two programs in real-time mapping/trading stocks on two monitors.

My goals are to improve the time to re - draw screen and reduce the Windows hard disk access.  Although there are alternatives to consider, I would like to invite the community to thoughts on two issues:
    1. how to increase the use of the RAM to the paging/caching window: tools of the surveillance system show that the use of the RAM is about 30% of the installed 16 GB all cached Windows hard disk is constantly busy.   If there is a tweak to increase the use of the RAM, I could develop memory 32 GB RAM.
    2. otherwise, I could install a 120 GB Solid State Drive.  Then, the question is whether you use the SSD for the OS or as according to Intel Rapid Storage disk cache would give the best solution for the above stated objectives?

My understanding is that the software is responsible for the amount of RAM is used.
You can't allocate X amount of RAM for a specific task.
If your software is needed, or could use more RAM than what he's using it now would use it.

A lot of software still uses the swap file, so do not neglect one
on your C:\ drive. The HARD drive is still accessible, but more effectively through the PF.
The PF on an SSD would be slightly faster than a HARD disk. Very slightly.
SuperFetch must be on a HARD drive.
I haven't studied Intel Rapid Storage, but a SSD is a beautiful home for the OS.
I do not think that it would help speed up the re - draw them well.

    Out of specific issues.
If there is a link with the speed of re - drawing and graphics-
If you can run two windows on one monitor and to redraw faster than with two
It may be due to two monitors that requires more bandwidth bandwidth memory (VRAM).
If you find that's the case then maybe an ATI card with a 256 bit memory bus draws
a little quicker on two screens as the 550 with it's bus 192-bit memory.

Depending on your software, you can find that a machine i7 with hyper-threading technology is more
suitable for your task, but only if the software can make use.

Of course you would also want a good internet speed if the information is continuously
Download. Cannot re - draw the data that are not have happened.

Forums of your software can be a good place to learn as well.

  • Tecra A8 - 103 - how to increase memory for video card?

    Hello

does anyone know how to increase the memory for the video card on my Tecra A8-103?

I've heard that I can 'take' of RAM memory and 'Add' to video memory card, but don't know how? I just live in the BIOS, but have not seen this feature?

I need, because, when I work in Visual Studio .NET and pass code for fashion design, an image disspears and I have to wait 15 to 30 seconds until :(((back what the image

Therefore, I do not think that increasing memory video card will solve this problem?

Thank you x 10 in advance

You cannot pass the VRAM chips, they are soldered to the circuit board.

On some machines, you can dynamically increase the VRAM by installing more RAM System. Enjoy reading your user manual.
