HP Proliant DL360e + Bus host H221 + HP P2000 G3 storage array

Hello

I have the following equipment:

-HP Proliant DL360e

-H221 Host Bus

Storage array - HP P2000 G3

The software to install is VMware 5.1. I download the ISO on the HP website.

I could install VM disk on the DL360e when the storage array is not connected.

I could connect to the storage array and configure the raid array by using the network card.

The problem:

At startup, when I connect the HP H221 of the controller cable to the storage group. The server hangs when you try to initialize the H221. The message is "initialization".

If I connect the cable after booting, I can't find storage array P2000.

Any ideas?

Thank you and best regards,

Irshad

Discovered that one of the host H221 bus is defective.

Looks like you have currently not iSCSI installation program.  The option - install option assumes iSCSI is already running.   You simply install the software.

  • Move the virtual machine from one host to another with shared storage

    Hello

I have a question on how to move a virtual machine from one ESX 4 host to a host ESXi 5.  These hosts have access to the same shared storage but the ESX 4 host is outside the network and host ESXi 5 is inside the network so vMotion is not an option.  They are in different groups.  I know that there must be an easy way to move this virtual machine, but for the life of me, I can't find it.  I guess I have remove the virtual machine from the external cluster but how to make the virtual machine in the internal cluster?

    Thanks in advance...

If both host access to the data store even where VM's store, just stop the virtual machine, remove inventory on ESXi 4, go to ESXi 5 vSphere vSphere, browse the data store where the VM is stored, do a right-click on the .vmx file and add to the inventory.

  • HP ProLiant DL160 - cannot create the data with local storage (controller, no RAID) store

Hi all. I appreciate your time and comments.

Using VMware ESXi (initially), installation (VMware ESXi 5.5.0, 1331820) will very well (install on USB). Able to enter in the console of the vSphere Client, everything seems normal. Any attempt to use local storage, however, is filled with this error message: http://i.imgur.com/40ySsOS.png

"It was not correct to specified parameters. Vim.Host.DiskPartitionInfo.spec"-" 'HostStorageSystem.ComputerDiskPartitionInfo' call for object 'storage system' on ESXi "< ip address >" failed. "

I tried both the base (from VMware) installation disc and the "Custom" (HP) HP installation disk. Both have the same problem: all facilities, but local disks - as seen while - are not able to serve local storage. It worked very well (previous incarnation was as Server 2003 file server, no reported\noticed questions). It's not under warranty, its going to be used as a laboratory server. All this seems to work well.

    Specifics:

    HP DL160 G6

Storage card: ICH10 6 Port SATA AHCI Controller

    Discs: 3 G MDL 500 GB 7200

Controller and the disks are perceived by the system: http://i.imgur.com/3PAKQHL.png

Can someone point me in the right direction on what to go here? Research on the error messages do not lead to a lot of help. I'll get more pending. I would be grateful.

This could be a problem with the current data on the disk. I suggest clean you the partition info using the DD explained to the KB VMware: Troubleshooting in the add storage Wizard error: cannot read this disk partition information to see if that solves the problem.

  • Which host is connected to these storage of data?

OK guys... Im stuck on stupid here.

I have a list of a slew of data warehouses that have less free space 20% capacity. I just need to find which esx host (or clusters) are connected to data warehouses and export them to a csv file. I thought that it would be a simple command, but ive not had much luck.

I found the below command and he does report the host connected to the DS, but it returns the host connected to a full ' [string]: join; which is very difficult to sort through when you have 100 + data warehouses.

    Get-Datastore $_. Select Name, @{N = "Hosts"; E = {[string]: join (",", ($_.))} Extensiondata.Host | %{(Get-vue $_.) Key). Name}))}}

    Name                                    Hosts
    -------                                    --------
    DS_01 ESX_srv1, ESX_srv2, ESX_srv3...

The foregoing would be very nice If I could do to return the cluster name (who I could ask easy host), but I had no luck with either.

    Thanks in advance!

    KeV - o

    You could make a

    Get-Datastore $_ | Get-VMHost | Get-Cluster

A little messy that it would match the cluster for each host, if you know what is correct then you could do:

    Get-Datastore $_ | Get-VMHost | Select -first 1 | Get-Cluster

  • Cannot add P2000 SAS LUN to host vmware

I have two HP DL380 G6 vmware hosts and a P2000 storage device. The P2000 is connected directly to the two hosts with two SAS controllers. In hosts, I installed HP Sc08e PCI HBA adapters. A host (running ESXi 4.0) is connected to the storage and can make use of data warehouses. The other host (running ESX 4.0) does not see the new storage adapter.  During POST, the server lists the new adapter so the hardware itself is aware that there is a new HBA, but within Vsphere host is not simply see the adapter.

The P2000 LUNS are mapped to all ports of P2000 for two guests. P2000 configuration the two hosts are set up for exactly the same thing.

Can anyone suggest why I'm having this problem?

    Thanks in advance.

Are the two hosts on the same build? According to the HCL , looks that the driver has been added to ESX 4.0 with update 1. Before that, you need to download and install manually.

  • HBA host in vFog information

    Hello
We have recently installed Pro 6.5 vFoglight and want to justify using this tool in the provision of access to ESXTOP. The main reason that we would use ESXTOP would study any latency of I/O by HBA on a given host.
While vFog offers a wonderful view of this sub ' monitored hosts > vm explore ' tab in storage, information by HBA seems incomplete. Is not save or view information such as the queue, kernel latency or latency device latency (see screenshot below).

I cannot find any mention in the documentation about the necessary/recommended statistics level connection vCenter and I wonder if, in order to view this information, it should be increased from 1 to ?
    Thanks in advance,
    NickB

This shows only the ESX 4 and data hosts more later and then only with more vCenter Update 4 or vSphere vCenter 4 and above. (I can't have these quite correct, leave a note at [email protected]). Before these versions vCenter didn't recover the data from the ESX hosts and there is nothing exposed in the API to pick us up.

  • ESXi host has no persistent storage / fsUUID is null

    Hello

The issue I'm having involves a HP N40L Microserver w / local storage on a HP SmartArray P410 controller.  6 hard drives configured in a RAID10 array and the multitude of ESXi what OS runs on local USB.

A recent issue w / the matrix raid caused a crash of the VMS resident and now "host ESXi has no persistent storage" message.

I solved the problems of disk HARD w / table (replaced a disk), and the table is presented in the peripheral topic under "HP Serial Attached SCSIDisk.  ID is naa.600508b1001c8d82bf5f4a33f0e2bc04

However, the data store does not appear in the tab of data warehouses.  I refreshed and restarted several times w / no success.

This data store was run on an installation 5.1 ESXi (ISO custom HP) for a few years without problem.

To try to solve the problem, I installed ESXi 6.0 U1 on a new USB stick which fortunately is now running in the Microserver but presenting the same behavior for the data store.

  • 5.5u2 ESXi host will not mount CF data warehouses

I am the admin in a test lab, so many times I have to "make do" with what I have for the material.  I recently reassigned a R910 Dell with 64 GB memory in a 5.5u2 ESXi host.  It has some storage SAS (2.5 to) and some (CT 11) directly connected FC storage and some FC HBAs for use by VMs to send data to the tape library.

Recently, we had a power failure, and this host does not reconnect to the CF storage when she returned to the top.  (Duty to "make do" with what I means not having is not the capabilities of UPS).  I can tell the host of HBA see it properly and sees the LUNS on RAID controllers, but refuses to mount.  I go through the add storage Wizard, and he sees that there is a store of data storage VMFS, but always refuses to mount.  I also tried to remove the redirection to the two FC HBA that have been set up for this purpose, but it made no difference.

I have now three users unable to work because they cannot access their virtual machines on storage of this FC.  I can't even transfer them off to use the SAS storage form.

I think it might be the cause file system damage, but I'm not sure.  Someone at - it suggestions?

Have you ever tried to set up data warehouses from the command line (see, for example, http://kb.vmware.com/kb/1011387)?

  • VSphere hosts high availability 2

    Hi all

I am trying to achieve the following by using the essential plus the package. I had 2 identical machines with 2 TB of storage. The two are running ESXI and I want to configure high availability and load the pendulum. From what I've read on for them is that vmware needs shared storage so kind of san if I want to use high availability. But I don't have this machine, what I want to achieve is the following: Vmware reflects the discs on both machines (network raid 1) and if a hardware failure occurred on one of them, the other machine will start all the vm remaining. In the same way vmware should do load balancing. From what I've read on the internet vmware had VSA, but this has been discontinued. VSAN is not an option, because I don't have 3 machines. One possible option would be for example starwind but I would have preferred an option of vmware itself.

So in short it is a way to configure high availability and load with 2 hosts balancing and not shared storage? Preferably without third party software.

    Kind regards

    Sebastian Wehkamp

Technically, you can use DRBD and Linux (or FreeBSD and POLE if you're on the dark side of the Moon) to create a device block tolerant replication between a pair of virtual machines running on a hypervisor nodes. Throw in

failover NFSv4 point mounting on top and you have a nice VMware VM data store. Tons of a defined software storage vendors have exactly this ideology within their virtual storage devices if you do not go to the difference

However as StarWind Virtual SAN is FREE for the installation of 2 knots in the scenario of VMware (Hyper-V licensing is different if you care) and can be run on a free Hyper-V Server (no need to pay for licenses of Windows), you CAN end up with a faster

back from road StarWind. Depends on what you want from a set of functionality (iSCSI? NFS? SMB3? Online dedupe? Cache?) and what forum do you prefer for public support to ask questions

    --

Thank you for your response. I thought that since preparations are exactly the same secondary machine would be able to easily start the vm of lost. For synchronization, I thought it would be something like drbd, when unable to connect with the other secondary hosts will become primary. This works in the case of a hardware failure, and network failure half a brain will take place that must be resolved manually. I play with it replicaton and reconsider the starwind software.

  • Store prices a 4.0.0 ESXi host procedure

    Hi guys,.

    I have a big problem!

    Hard & VMware

    Material:

HP Pro Binder DL 380 G5

    RAID 6

    PowerEdge P400 Smart array

    300 GB 10 K 6 SAS HARD DRIVE

    Total storage space 1.2 TB

    VMware:

    ESXi 4.0.0 171294

local data storage: data store 541,75 GB

What I need now is to move to Datastorae without delete or reinstall the entire Vmware. What is needed as possible to increase or tie the total storage to vmware otherwise this Esxi 4 is useless.

I have attached a few screenshots maybe it will help you understand.

I have read many of the same problems here but no useful solution to increase the storage without reinstallation. Hope someone can help me because I can't back it up with my backuptools only with the datastorebrowser and it would take several days.

If you need further information, please ask me for an easy fix, I am also prepared to make a cash donation

    concerning

    Zafer

I solved the problem for me. For all those who receive the same problem do not like me. If you have this version: 4.0.0 171294 ESXi

FIRST OF ALL, PLEASE MAKE A BACKUP OF THE FILES WITH THE APPLICATIONS.

NO MATTER HOW LONG IT WILL TAKE!

    1. install Vsphere Host update utility

2 Update(all firmwares and patches) the host who needs more data space

    3. connect with VSphere and set the VMware host in maintenance mode

4 Referesh MI diskusage host configuration

    5. hardware > storage > Dtx200 > ADD storage

    6.HDD/LUN

    7. Select storage to add > next > finish

    8 restart the server VM

9 assign storage to the virtual machine (VM) and have some fun for your virtual machine to start without an errormessage.

Hope that will help someone not reinstall or update the VMware Server to another version.

Now I can enjoy my weekend

I'm sure it's a simple answer, but I've been beating my head on the wall, trying to find a solution. The scenario is as follows:

1 Vcenter has several hosts in different groups. All built at the same time with a NFS share that is shared among all.

    2. I add a new host to the data center (I tried independently and also added to a cluster as well).

    3. the new host sees its local disk as a data store, as expected, but I have to add the shared NFS datastore.

    4. at the level of the host, I go to configuration-storage-add storage and the NFS share.

It shows and normal with NFS (1) as the name. I can't rename it as it says THAT NFS already exist. I understand that there are in the vcenter DB, but how to add this new host or host an existing environment and maintain the name of the NFS share? vCenter 5.5, 5.5 esxi

    Thanks for your help

    finally found the problem,

the mounting data store I used FQDN.domain.com /Datashare

I needed to use the FULL domain. DOMAIN.COM /Datashare

Plugs in the name of area COMPLETE the variance in the symbolic name that caused the problem.

  • Can't do multiple hosts access to the data of the other local host store

    Hello!

I'm faced with a problem I have no idea how I can solve it. I have a cluster of ESXi 5.1.0 799733 with 3 guests and a shared iSCSI storage. I do vMotion well, as my VM files are stored in the storage. These 3 hosts are managed my vCenter 5.1.0.5300 build 947940.

Now, I would have a few virtual machines on the local storage of the host cause some performance issues, and so I would like to make Storage vMotion. In addition, Storage vMotion is allowed to my cluster.

I know that each host needs to access the storage time origin and target to make Storage vMotion. I also know that 5 VMFS is a cluster file system.  Search this documentation [1], it says that I must use in the web client of vSphere (I prefer to use vSphere client), the data store and click the "mount a store of data to some hosts. But there is no icon!

I also tried clicking 'Add storage' on vSphere Client GUI, by selecting "VMFS", without success.

Attached to this post is my cluster infrastructure. The DS_LOCAL_ * are storehouses of data space and DS_SAN_ * are SAN datastore.

Where mess me things up? Help, tip or documentation pointing will be nice.

    Many thanks for any help

    [1] VMware vSphere 5.1

You can not access local data warehouses of other armies. However, with vSphere VMware 5.1 introduced a new VMotion feature, which allows you to migrate virtual machines without shared storage "(hôte de changement et magasin de données»)." However, this feature is available on the Web Client.
