HP SureStore App fails to J: drive letter missing

No help for Hrdware Office:

Win 7 Hm Prem - I «Believe» my HP Pocket Media Drive BkUp software is not working NOW because the removable disk "Drive letter" (J) he had ALWAYS disappeared.

With a removal of Temp of my HP PD3200X (BkUp) Reader USB Verbatim was inserted and assigned the SAME (J).

I REMOVED it with safely remove hardware INSTEAD of the Clk'ing USUAL 100 V-Safe ICON that always comes out the USB key. I am suspicious it is WHY (J) is MISSING and HP burner is NOW assigned (K).

Computer / Rt Clk (J), then EJECT product Msg that "(J) is CURRENTLY in USE." Save files & then quit. CLK continue may cause a loss of data. »

NEITHER diskmgmt.msc or a utilitiy to Nirsoft App "USBDeview" show (J) is in use.

(J) appears everyehere it should, EXCEPT in the Menu Change Drive Letter (Missing J)...

The synchronization Shtcut SureStore disappeared when I Unpinned task Mgr but Clking on this B4 that produced "Please insert disk in drive removable (J). The pilot doesn't "Appear" charge lead now when Inserted 1.

I Dnloaded the LAST App Update (08/04/2010) SureStore and Install AFTER 3 attempts it actually WORKED. After re-boot, nothing appears to load / no icon appears Clk / Activate and (I THINK) (J) he needs a reason any. I have to re - install the update every time I want to do a synchronization of C: update to the HP drive (now K.)

FIXIT and Control Panel troubleshooting / material & audio = no help.

You will appreciate all the assistance!

I got J: by removing the BkUp HP drive & go Device Mgr / drives and uninstall all USB Device members 5. Plugged in car and it was assigned (K.) Changed the routine drive letter and (J is now AVAILABLE again.) I made the change to j.

My biggest problem was not knowing that after 04/08/10 SureStore worm 1.0.1.15 App update install should I go to start / computer and made a shortcut to office for visible HPSureStore.exe. All worked so J: probbly could have still lost IF I knew how to set up the shortcut. I was going to Appdata and finding (3) SureStore.exe has nothing done.

All right.  FOR INFO.

  • SanDisk Ultra Drive Letter missing problem

Did a search but don't seem to find something that fits to my problem. I have several Sandisk Ultra USB flash drives, for most versions of 16 GB with a 32 GB version and for some strange reason, whenever I have insert in a Windows computer (Windows 7 and Windows 10) they fail to come up with a drive letter. Instead, I have to go to computer management > disk management > change drive letter and paths and assign a (usually E) drive letter to the Ultra drive to be install in Windows every time.

I have many other readers flash including Sandisk Cruzers who do not exhibit this problem. There is always a drive letter assigned whenever they are inserted into a Windows computer.

Is there a cause for this problem?

Is there one alternative to having to assign a drive letter to each time I insert the Ultra flash player?

    Ed_P wrote:

Assignment of the different drive letters to each different drive, IE the more different 16 GB for the 32 GB ones, should help. I have some of my own assigned to S: and T: to deviate the other random readers.

Thanks for the suggestion. Tried that on the Ultra drive (five of them) and it did not work. Each of them has been assigned their own drive letter but would not come up with a drive letter, so that other readers not Ultra would rise with the drive letters.

What seemed to have worked was to access the 'diskpart' execute the command, and then run the following command: automount enable

Then when the Ultra drives were inserted, they came up with a drive letter from the first drive letter not in use on the system.

  • Drive letter missing after upgrade to Windows 7

After the Vista Premium upgrade to Windows 7, the letter of partition and recovery disk do not appear in Windows Explorer.

Have you installed just Win7 upgrade or maybe clean install of Win7?
I updated several laptop computers, and something like that doesn't happen. Just if you have deleted the existing partition.

By the way: there is no recovery partition. Recovering files is saved in the folder HDDRecovery on the second partition of HARD drive.

  • Get the iPhone to recognize the change to iTunes Library the drive letter

I'm doing something that should be extremely simple, and Apple has found a way to make it incredibly difficult. I'm moving my media to a new computer. On my old computer, all the media has been on the J: drive. On my new computer, it's all about the D: drive. Other than that, the folder structure is exactly the same. Apple says that in documentation for migrating to a new computer, activate the option "Keep iTunes folder organized Media". There are several reasons why this is not an option, mainly because iTunes is the absolute worst to organize your media folder. I've seen cases where iTunes dumps simply all your files perfectly organized in a single folder for you to figure out what that is when you get the file you need. No thanks, I'm perfectly capable of organizing my own files. Not to mention, my multimedia files are on a data disc and the app folder, where the files to iTunes library is on an SSD with limited storage. Then... Guard iTunes library trace the location of support using a "iTunes Music Library.xml" file. I've updated this file to use the new location and when I open iTunes on my new computer, everything is perfect. All my media is there with all my custom illustrations I apply (iTunes can also be really terrible at the corresponding work on music not purchased via iTunes!). If great, let's get my iPhone recognized now because it's really the only reason why I use iTunes. As soon as I connect my phone and it starts the synchronization process, it crushes everything in the XML file and returns all my music in the original location (now the music in the iTunes library has!'s next to all my music sync). You're going to go to a song and it will ask you the new location, I can go to, and then iTunes invites even to use this new location to update other files 'disappeared', but the problem is this feature only searches the subfolder where the particular file is located, you have access to what is in this case an album. Do you know how many albums I have? You mean I have to go to every single album and update the location manually? Once again, no thanks! So my thought at this point, ok, let's just resync all the music with the phone, that well that is always a huge pain given the extremely slow transfer speeds from your computer to your phone (Apple Hi, meet 3.1 USB or same USB 3.0) in combination with the size of my library (we're talking days to complete!), it's even less of a pain then go each file (or a piece of each album) and updated the location. On a side note - it would be really great if the synchronization on the Wi - Fi technology still works... I mean, they had what, over 4 years to operate and you're still lucky if your phone is recognized by Wi - Fi. That means I have to leave my phone on my computer for days and who really has the ability to do? Sorry, I digress. So, I removed all of my music from my phone and got iTunes to be happy with the new drive letter. Great, let's start the arduous process to sync my music on my phone. I re - activate the option synchronize my music and what happens, my iPhone again overwrites my iTunes library with the former location of media! Excuse me, but how is it reasonable to have the phone, which is a destination and contains a subset of your library, to be the registration system for which the files are stored in the source? I mean come on! This is absurd! I've always hated that Apple is owner and forces you to use iTunes (some of the worst software ever developed) to manage/sync your media. But for years, I have it justified by saying iPhone works simply. No worries. Well, I'll say, it does not just work and my insinuation that Apple made simple products that just don't work no longer holds water. At this point, I am very close to say goodbye to the iPhone and switch to Google project. I'm tired of less expensive phones friends surpassing my overpriced device that uses obsolete technology. Sort of, I'm sorry to dump all this on the community, but it is absolutely ridiculous that it's so complicated to change a drive letter and I am at my wits end. Thanks in advance to anyone who can offer a solution.

  • move el capitan photo library app on external hard drive

    Question:

How to move to El Capitan new library of the 'Photo' app on an external drive?

The picture of El Capitan App behaves like a virus - it takes my computer whenever I plug a phone, etc.

There seems to be no preference to choose which application opens to plug in a device, and iPhoto failed to do not open.

(And selecting the cloud for storage is similar to trust someone else to keep forever, hundreds of concerts my confidential and important data.) "If they were to lose my credit card information, that would be correct.)

I will not "auto-save" my photos on my drive internally, and will not allow 'Photo' me to select one different folder other than the one they chose for me on my internal drive. Whenever I select a folder from the external hard drive in the preferences, it is default to the original destination in the internal drive.

Most discussions on the application of 'Photo' of Apple are extremely difficult to find because the results of a search of the generic name of there new beacon 'Photo' app display the results of all things by the word 'photo' in them. Go to Apple support with the name of their application as the search keyword: "photo".

It seems that the fellows who designed Windows 8 have been able to find a job at Apple. I think it may be easier to move a photo library of Windows 8 at the library 'Photos' El Capitan that moving the iPhotos library.

I don't remember thinking iPhoto needed to be redesigned. Simply not take 20 minutes for the Interior to appear cryptic images. And maybe be able to import large files of k 4, without crashing on every attempt.

PLEASE SEE THE APP "FUNBOX" BEFORE THE NEXT UPDATE OF 'PHOTO '!

in this soft - 128 GB iPhone photos appear in less than a minute, and you have the ability to save large images videos 4 k, voice memos, etc. simply by dragging them to the location desired. The good old MAC intuitive way that attracted us to Apple in the first place.

Perhaps Apple simply tries to leave the free App company.

    RULE NO. 1:

Applications need to be improved - not made obsolete!

One Solution: rename the new 'photo' application in iPhoto. (I'm a genius!)

How to move to El Capitan new library of the 'Photo' app on an external drive?

Select it in the image folder and drag the EHD.  Once there open to confirm a successful move and then remove the pictures folder.

There seems to be no preference to choose which application opens to plug in a device, and iPhoto failed to do not open.

With the trendy iPhone go to Photos and uncheck this box:

Do this for each device you have.  If you have memory cards and reformat them, you will have to repeat every time.

To kill the opening of Photos for all devices use the method posted by JadedEye:

I don't know what you mean by that last statement.  Are you referring to export photos from your library to the EHD? Or are you referring to place your library on the EHD and its use here? The export window to select any location you want to save to.  By default, it opens to the desktop on the startup disk. But you can select any volume which is mounted by clicking it in the sidebar of the export window:

  • UNABLE to get the drive letter of the disk 0 Partition 1

    Hello world.

Well, yesterday I tried to install Ubuntu netbook edition 10.10. Well, in the middle of something was wrong and it corrupted the Windows partition. Linux is installed, but Windows is damaged.
I'm on a Gateway laptop, and I have a recovery disk. The thing is when I try to boot from the disc, it says Windows is loading files... and then it opens with an error message saying fail to get the drive letter of the Partition 1 of disk 0. When I turn on the computer, I present a selection of software Ubuntu and Windows Vista loader option. If I choose that, it would open a window of system repair and th other options. I passed by them and tried to recover my pc from the recovery disc. However, none of them worked. I chose the option to Scan drive for errors, and you are prompted to restart my pc. I did, but now, if I select the Windows Vista loader it comes with a long error message.
In the Linux file browser, C:\ is now called PQSERVICE, but he's not normal Windows OS files.
The thing I would ask is; How I completely erase my hard drive, reset the partitions and reinstall windows from my recovery disc? I have no special programs or documents that I need to backup, I all recorded them on a portable hard drive. Also, I can reinstall Linux (rightly) with no dramas.
PS. I have a drive to upgrade Vista to Windows 7. I have not yet tried, but if I inserted that and tried to boot my computer from that, would that work?
    Thanks for your time.

    Hello

    1. can you give us the long error message?

The recovery disc can be used to restore the computer to factory settings and I suggest you best computer manufacturer contact to get help for the same.

  • Change the drive letter of the Partition Recovery

After previous bad experiences in trying to separate the data files program, I took the habit on my previous computer under Windows to create another partition on my hard drive to store the data files. Out of habit I still do on my desktop PC with Windows XP (great program) rather than use the My Documents folder.

I want to do the same thing on my new DV6-3142, I use to work and create a separate partition for my data files. I understand how to create a new partition on the HDD and reassign the drive letters for the existing partitions, but I want to use the letter D for her. However, it is the letter of the drive that is used for the recovery partition.

Can I change the drive letter of the recovery partition to, say R without affecting the operation of the recovery process, or should I leave as D for the recovery of the system to work properly that I should never need her?

    Hello:

You leave the name of the recovery partition and drive letter unchanged and your C drive: of the same name.

If you change these, when you press the F11 key to start the recovery process, the program know what to do.

I am a firm believer of it also have a set of factory recovery disks. For me, it is worth less than the investment of $20.  If your HARD drive fails after the warranty period, (or if you want to upgrade your HARD drive), your recovery partition doesn't help anyway.

  • I need to change the drive to a new drive letter, but XP will not let me because he thinks that the letter is in use.

Quick question: I need to change the drive to a new drive letter, but XP will not let me because he thinks that the letter is in use, when it is not.

The question for a long time: I've updated two disks in my computer from 1 TB to 2 TB. They were e and K:. The KC: drive is used as a backup of data on E: drive.

I copied all the data on the old drive E: to the new, but when I put the new drive in place of the old, XP wouldn't let me assign the E: drive letter. It is ironic that several times, I see the warning that if you change a drive letter, some programs may not work - so of course that Microsoft is aware of this problem - however, it is annoying when you NEED to change a drive letter to OPERATE programs, but Windows won't let you. Sometimes, trying to protect users from doing stupid things prevents them from making things work...

Anyway, after some research, I discovered that if I put the drive E: OLD and "remove" the drive of her letter, then the letter E: becomes available again. It did not work, and my computer is now partially satisfied with his new E: drive. However, the same trick with the new drive K: does NOT work.

I removed the letter 'k': the old K: drive, but when I install a new one, it won't let me change it. It happens to be stuck at 'l': it's no use to me because backup programs are ready to use the K:\ path.

There is that no "K:" drive in my computer and I deleted the letter k: the old disk. How do I FORCE XP to designate the new drive K: so that my backup program can work again?

    Thank you.

Did you try to start your computer in Mode without fail (repeatedly, key to tap the F8 as your computer starts) and then try to re-assignment of drive letters?
I think that some programs on your machine may be playing with your drive letters.  Boot safe mode will allow Windows to operate with a minimum of processes that are running and you should be able to change drive letters in these conditions.

  • No drive letter for USB PCMCIA card reader

I use a card reader Addonics AEPUDDU Digi - PCMCIA (USB for PC connection) drive with a desktop XP computer.  Now, when I plug in any card memory PCMCIA (I tried several), the card reader recognizes the insertion of the card (the Green led lights up), like the PC (the icon appears in the system tray), but it does not affect no matter what drive letter to the map, so I can't access it all (through Windows Explorer).  If I click on the icon to eject, I get the usual pop-up message ("Remove USB mass storage device"), still only refers to a drive letter.  Clicking on this message gives the 'Safe to Remove Hardware' popup normal.

Moreover, this habit of work very well, and then several weeks ago began this strange behavior.  Some days it works OK, a few days would not work.  Sometimes restart would fix it.  Today, it doesn't seem to help.

Why XP will not assign a drive letter to this device, and how do I fix?  Thanks for any help or suggestion...

Moreover, this habit of work very well, and then several weeks ago began this strange behavior.  Some days it works OK, a few days would not work.  Sometimes restart would fix it.  Today, it doesn't seem to help.

Assuming you are trying to read of the same type and media memory size that used to work and other USB devices plugged into the same USB taken work, it seems that the device failed.  That means Addonics offers technical support?

I guess that you tried to connect the unit on different USB Sockets.

Open the Device Manager (start > run > devmgmt.msc > OK).  I don't know where this device will be displayed.  Look in the hard drives and the Bus USB controllers.  Are there error icons?  If so, double-click the name of the device and see which appear under the heading "status of the device.

If nothing is reported as bad, it is possible that uninstalling and reinstalling might help.
Double-click the Device Manager entry and select uninstall.
Then disconnect the device and reboot.
Then plug in and let Windows recognize it and install it.

  • How to make a drive for an old drive letter hard slave while keeping existing data

Hello, my master hard drive failed and I replaced with a new one and reinstalled windows XP etc. with success. Before the crash, I had a second slave drive with some data, I want to keep on it. When I connect this drive, it appears in disk management, but did not get a letter from reader. How can I get windows to assign a drive letter for the drive without format and lose all my data? Both drives are IDE drives, the master is cavalier to CSEL and is on the main cable, the slave seems to have lost his rider or never had one, but appears in the bios as the secondary hard drive. Thank you, Richard

In "Disk management", you should be able to right click on the drives assigned letter and go "change drive letter and path...". Then click on 'Add '. Have clicked on the drive letter following the entitlement and right of it, there is a drop-down list box that should allow you to select the letter for it you want. careful to not give two devices the same letter that it will only show one of them. for example. If you have a flash connected as F: drive and assign one of the hard drives as F: it will display the hard disk and not the flash player or view the flash drive and hot hard drive.

    Hope that helps.

  • Drive letter assigned not

My GPS unit is not assigned a drive letter when it is plugged into the USB port.  It happens in the Device Manager and when checked is said to work properly.  In disk management is not listed in the register of volume (top panel), appears in the lower panel, but it is not assigned a letter and status is not saved.  I tried the command letter and the path of the drive changes but get the error message "the operation failed to complete because the disk management console view is not updated.  I updated as suggested and also close the disk management console, restart disk management and restarted the computer.  It makes no difference at all.  A solution would be most appreciated.

    Hi Roland Bhatt,.

Thank you for visiting Microsoft Answers.

Try to use diskpart to assign a drive letter to the drive.

    1. on the start Orb > type diskpart.

2 - Click on diskpart in the above results > click Run as administrator.

    3. after diskpart loads type list volume, press on enter.

You should notice that you can see your partition you use for your data, it should not not have a drive letter assigned to it.

    4. type select volume 6 (replace 6 with the number of the volume assigned to the partition in question).

    5. type assign letter Z (replace Z with the letter you want to assign).

When you look in the computer, you should be able to see your score.
