HP that 7520 duplex prints Garbage

Using Windows XP on Dell Inspiron laptop and printer HP Photosmart 7520 wireless all-in-one

Whenever I have printed two sides, first page print all others (including back of the first page) print garbage. It looks almost like a different language.

Any help would be most appreciated!

Hello mshack,

Welcome to the HP Forums! I understand your concerns with your Photosmart 7520. How is the printer connected? USB or wireless?

Please make a copy both sides of your printer. This step will be a test to check a software issue or a hardware issue. If this copy comes out perfect, then it would look like a software problem.

Also, please make sure you have updated the Firmware on your printer. If you are unsure please click here. Make sure you only select your appropriate operating system.

Let me know your troubleshooting steps, and I will help you.

  • Photosmart 7520 Duplex printing with A5?

    Hey well informed friends HP!

I have been working on a book-type project and am ready to print. Unfortunately, now that everything is set-out (in Mellel) and I bought the paper (from England!), my Mac (OS 10.6.8) does not want me to print my book on both sides of a sheet of A5 with long edge binding. I hope that there is a sort of Workaround available that will allow me to do that; scaling my layout isn't really an option at this point. Please tell me I'm not outta luck and I'll be able to print my book!

Thanks in advance for any advice you can offer!

    Hello

The accessory automatic duplex support only formats of A4 paper, letter or legal due to hardware limitations.

A5 paper size, you can perform copy double-sided print manually using the Pages of print options.

Follow print on both sides of the paper manually below to perform a manual duplex print job:

  • Range of Printers Multifunction CM3530fs stopped automatic duplex printing.

We've had this printer for a while, but it suddenly stopped print duplex automatically.  It only allows for manual duplex printing now, and it is impossible to find how to reload once one side has printed.  I don't know what happened, but it must be something simple.  Any suggestions?

    Thanks for the clarification,

Make sure that automatic duplex printing accessory is turned on in the settings of the printer and try to print again:

Enter the control panel > devices and printers.
Right-click the printer icon, and then click printer properties.
    Click the device settings tab.
As installed in Duplex Automatic Two-Sided accessory and then click OK to save the changes.

Please let m eknö if this is useful,

  • Auto duplex printing is not available on Windows 8

Automatic duplex printing works fine on my other windows systems.  The printer Web page shows that automatic duplex printing is supported / installed.  I can do when I print from my system windows XP very well, but my new system of windows 8 is not.  "I installed the latest windows printer driver 7 and options ' 2 sides print ' do not give automatic as an option.

Is there a driver solution or something that needs to be done to get automatic duplexing on windows 8?

The duplexer must be enabled in the driver, see the Vista/Windows 7 Duplex Printing solutions to the problems here.  Windows 8 would be similar to Windows 7 in the procedure.

  • Duplex printing no longer appears as an option with printer replacement HP 7520

I just replaced my printer HP 7520 with a new (same model) and the option to print 2 sides disappeared from the print dialog box.  I tried this on my desktop (running Windows 7) and my laptop (running Windows 8).   Any ideas on how to solve this problem?

You will probably need to configure the driver so that he knows that a duplex unit is present on the device (assuming that the an is present and working physically).

On the printer properties dialog, select the device settings tab and make sure that the duplex unit is installedand not installed.

  • Photosmart 7520: back to back printing (duplex printing)

I used to be able to print back to back and somehow, I changed it, but I can't for the life of me find where to change my printing to double sided printing preferences.  I have manual in PDF format to print and do not want to waste paper - it's a matter of adobe or one that I can solve it in the settings of the printer?  Have you looked at the manual of the printer, I can't find anything that relates to my problem. Any help gratefully received.

Welcome to the Community Forum of HP.

I'm not talking Mac - OSX or Mac nothing else, frankly.  The smile.

I don't know that the Duplex setting must be defined in the Print Options.

I found the following - directions probably depends on your version of Mac OS x - it may be enough for you to find the configuration:

    Double-sided printing

    and from HP:

  • Photosmart 5520 (but also others) duplex printing cleared at the bottom

Very recently, I bought a Hp Photosmart 5520 and I found that sometimes the bottom of a page is cut off when printing double-sided. I looked in this forum and found that this problem is hardware related and can not be solved, but there are solutions. I did a few tests with my current setup and I want to share my discoveries, here for other users waiting for HP to add a FAQ for the photosmart 5520 entry. (but also for the 6520 and 7520, probably)

The problem is clearly stated in a few messages, dating from September 2013 and Nov 2013, although it is not very easy to find

    http://h30434.www3.HP.com/T5/other-printing-questions/duplexing-discrepancy/m-p/2470573/highlight/tr...

    http://h30434.www3.HP.com/T5/scanning-faxing-and-copying/double-sided-printing-is-cut-off-short-Phot...

Basically, the margin of the low printable area is 3mm side simple impression, while it is 15mm (at least!) for the first page, double-sided printing. This is due to the fact that the printer must keep the paper in the output roll after that that he finished printing the first page. It is therefore IMPOSSIBLE to duplex - print a document with text or graphics that extends beyond the margin of the lower 15 mm, unless the page size is reduced so that the effective bottom margin is 15 mm. On the other hand, if the document does not contain text or graphics beyond bottom margin of 15 mm it CAN be printed double-sided without reduction.

IMHO, the problem is that the default behavior of the firmware of the printer, the drivers of operating system and/or applications do not always properly address this limitation leading to surprising or unsatisfactory results.

To better understand the limits and behavior of the printer, I have carried out tests under the following conditions:

    (1) copy 2-sided vs 1-side in the printer display

    (2) Windows 7 applications: Word2010, Foxit PDF reader, Acrobat PDF reader

    (3) 4.3 android: Cloud Print and HP ePrint apps

The firmware in the printer is MGP5CN1351AR (Sep 12, 2013)

The windows version of printer drivers is 28.8 (October 30, 2012)

For tests 2 and 3, I have prepared a document word of 2 pages with headers and footers located exactly at 15 mm of margin top and bottom of the page and I have produced a PDF with CutePDF (unfortunately this forum does not allow attachments, otherwise I would have attached it).

    The results were as follows

    (1) in 2-sided copy the last 15 mm on part and on the other copy of the output are empty, even if the text of the content entry page, while, in 1-sided copy only the last 3 mm are empty (resizing is turned off, of course)

    (2) double-sided printed of Word2010 gives a duplexer not resized when the printing preferences, advanced options, "Arrangement" is disabled. If it is set on, the output is reduced. Print PDF files is tricky: there are several different options in Foxit PDF and acrobat PDF. Auto-Centre and adjustment - on the page to print double-sided, but do not keep the right size in Foxit PDF reader; If preserve layout is off a significant part of the bottom of the page is not printed, apparently due to the fact that the margins are not properly managed by foxit PDF. Acrobat PDF instead, leave a good impression both sides preserve the page layout and scaling are disabled (obviously up to 15 mm).

    (3) android Cloud Print prints the word and pdf files WITHOUT a provision to 'preserve', this is why some clipping may occur; HP ePrint prints two word files and pdf reduced in size, as if "preserve layout" option has been set.

In summary, I'll leave the "preserve layout" options always on in windows and I'll take a cut on the side of double-sided printing and I use hp eprint instead of cloudprint. If the correct size is important to a PDF file, it is best to experiment with Acrobat PDF (even if it is not a light program). iI would be expected at HP improved the behavior of the windows printer drivers to print a PDF file.

I hope that this post may be useful to other people.

You are right, that the effective page size is reduced because of the extra margins required to manage the document in automatic duplex mode.  From the rear is donated in the printer from the bottom and bottom printed in the top margin is also higher top for the back to the front.

The checkbox 'Keep the page layout' is important for results appropriate, although it will reduce the effective print size.

I've seen reports before of Foxit PDF printing problems, I avoid and use Adobe Reader.

  • Win 7 says module duplex printing not installed while it is installed

Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit. HP Photosmart C6280 is connected to the USB port.

I followed the steps to set the option to print double-sided on "Installed" in the printer properties and automatic duplex printing in the book save the printer preferences section. However, when I print a document, I get a message that says:
    "Missing automatic duplex printing module.

"The document has been configured using the Automatic Two-Sided Printing Module, but module is not installed in the device. The document will be printed recto. »

I know that it is installed in the printer, because I was able to print duplex when the printer is connected to a Windows XP computer. But since I've upgraded to a new computer with Windows 7, there is no more automatic duplex printing.

What can I do to fix this?

    Kind regards

I whent to a UDP driver on the HP support site, but my model C6200 series printer does not appear in the list of supported printers.

in any case, I despair, I've not unhooked the printer and its drivers. When I connect the printer back, Windows installed the drivers and the duplex now printing.

  • Duplex printing does not

I have a HP Office Pro 8600.  I printed two sides (if requested) successfully for over a year.  NOW, when I want to print double-sided the only option I have is of "manually print on Both Sides.   What's past and how to fix it?

I had to uninstall and reinstall the printer because she was no longer able to connect without cable.  Maybe I made a blunder the settings somehow, when I did this?

You may need to configure the driver so that he knows that a duplex unit is present on the device (assuming that the an is present and working physically).

On the printer properties dialog, select the device settings tab and make sure that the duplex unit is installedand not installed.

I've updated mny Laserjet 1020 driver on Windows 7 and now the printer default to double-sided printing, but I don't want this option turned on. I can't find any property where I can disable this default value.

Glad to see that you have solved the problem. Just to make this clear solution for everyone... I have attached a screenshot and the directions below on how to cut manual duplex printing...

Go to your printer icon. Click Printing Preferences. Click on the finish tab and make sure that:

    1. to print on both sides (manually) = checked. You can get a pop up with each print job after that, so beware

    2. NOT to print on both sides (manually) = unchecked.

Additionally, make sure that when you print a document that your game your appropriate printing preferences by clicking on Print Properties (from the application you are printing from) and then making sure the impression on both sides is clicked or says no

  • Duplex printing on Macx 4240N

So, we have a printer HP Laserjet 4240n that fails to print duplex. After going to the layout, "Two faces" option is greyed out and unselectable. What can be done to fix this?

    Thank you!

    Hello

Indeed the 4240 is not AirPrint enabled printer.

The 4240n does not print duplex automatically, only the model "d" support automatic duplex printing and, therefore, the option both sides should be greyed out because he only reffers auto duplex.

You can find the characteristics listed below:

To print two-sided manual open the file used to print, and then click file > print.

Note: You may need to click Show details to spend printing options.

Click on the drop-down list below, appears under the name of the application on most applications (e.g. Safari, Text Edit, etc)... will appear as Copies of Pages & in MS Office for Mac

Select the manual Duplex in this menu and select the manual Duplex check box.

You can click the Presets menu, and select Save current settings as a preset to save our configuration for future use, save it as a "Preset" will save the current value settings by default until another preset will be used.
