• Error HP4620

  I have an OfficeJet HP4620.  The unit is two years old.  After the unithas been turned on for about an hour and 15 minutes I get error "turn the power off, t.

  I have:

  1.) updated the firmware.

  2.) connected the printer to a socket without other devices or of extensions or power strips, etc.

  3.) re-installed the software and drivers.

  4.) disconnected the usb cable and connect only via the wireless.

  5.) I have reset the sleep timer from 15 minutes to 5 minutes and 10 minutes, thinking it was a faukty sleep mode setting.

  The issue seems to be with the wireless connectivity.   I can use all the features EXCEPT wirless.  I turned the wireless, connected the printer through usb only and everything works perfectly without stop error.  Can I connect the printer to my desktop and share through the office like a printer network without a hiccup.  BUT this does not allow me to print from my phone or tablet.

  Is there a work around?  Is there a recall on the wireless card?  [comment edited by moderator]

  Looks like you have put a lot of effort in the effort of troubleshooting so far. one thing I can think of that might help is to only option enable IPv4, which could help. On the front panel of the printer, go to and select settings or configuration menu, then go to network and look for Advanced Configuration. In the advanced configuration, go to and select IP Version and choose IPv4 only.

  My HP4620 all in one - the black cartridge will not print.  I encountered this problem in the past, but it has been resolved with an ink cartridge.  However, this time I replaced the new cartridge and still the black will not print.  I did all the diagnostic tests, use the PIN to clear the vent cleaned as advised printer heads.  This printer is only 16 months old and is not heavy use.  Solution, please?

• 10.8.3 OSX don't rest not in mode "sleep" after the installation of the wireless HP4620 printer

  I installed the HP4620 wireless printer, now OSX you waking up from his sleep after about 15 minutes, it didn't happen until I installed the HP4620.  So I opened a terminal and did a search for why the printer wakes up, the result was:

  Wake up the reason: GLAN HDEF EHC2

  I couldn't find any information about it, so I turned off and unplugged the printer, then turn on the computer sleep (which "now takes about a minute to sleep), now OSX wakes up after 45 minutes. So with the printer off and it's wake up yet, I think it must be something to do with the HP software installed?

  Does anyone else have this problem?  Any suggestions to correct sleep would be appreciated.

  Thanks for the reply but reset the SMC did not work, I have reinstaled 10.8.3 OSX then the printer and sleep works again.  Forgot to mention, I am running a Hackintosh on a Gigabyte H77N-wifi Board but never had any problems with sleep or HP printers, it not was not up to what I have installed the HP4620 sleep has become is down with insomnia.

  My wireless HP4620 printer keeps falling.  I used the WPS button for a wifi connection.  Tried to PIN verson also and same thing, the network connection drop after a few days.  I have configure WPA2 authentication via the web interface, but does not seem to do anything.  I have a model from Verizon Wireless Router A90-750015-07 number.  Any suggesstion is appreciated.  Thank you.

  You can update your firmware printer through the web interface.  When connected, get the IP address and use your browser to access, for example... http://192.168.x.x.  From there, you can do the update of the firmware. BUT until you do that, go to the area of networking and configure your wifi connection and assign a static ip address and give it a DNS address (address of your router).  You can't do the updte of the firmware without the DNS address.  That's what did the trick, I think.  Without the DNS, it will introduce the network every 48 hours (seems to).  My printer has stay connected for a week now.  Good luck.

• HP4620 was OK, then wi - fi turned on but no response to buttons

  I have correctly installed and connected my HP4620 to 3 Windows computers and an IPad.  A few days later, I couldn't get no response to buttons on the front panel.  Power button caused to fade on, melted then off.  Not blinking, slowly fade power on and off.  The service program could not connect to the printer.  I cycled power and operation was OK.  This is not the same when the printer is in mode 'sleep'.  So, if I press a button, wakes up the printer and the screen lights up.  Here, it ignores all keys.

  Earlier, I ran an update of the utility program, which he says has failed.  I don't know if that has anything to do with the problem I see.  After completing the current of the printer by unplugging the power I was able to print a test page and the display came.  Printing and scanning doctor says everything is OK.

  There is no light on the button. Some older models had a LED light, but they changed the material to not include the light on new printers. It seems that everything works now as expected. I would like to know if you feel if you were to hang up again.

  There should be a button on the front of your printer ePrint.  Tap the ePrint, and the web services menu should appear.  From there, it will ask you to activate the web services, or it will let you print a new page of the statement/report that will give you the print code.  If you need help more, let me know.

  Apparently I never understood what the auto answer for the fax machine.  I had always had put auto answer until recently when calls non-Fax began to be answered by the fax machine. There is a telephone and answering machine sharing the same line with the fax machine.  Fax has been implemented to meet the 2 ringtone (minimum).  The answering machine has been implemented to meet 6.   I had always thought the machine waited for a signal of the fax program, which you can hear when a remote fax machine attempts a call.  If something has changed because now I have to set the answering mode manual Fax, so it does not meet a non-Fax call.

  I'm not asking what or why things have changed.  But I would like to know why HP make the truly automatic auto answer feature and only answering fax calls.

  Auto answer means the answers incoming fax all call automatically, it does not refer to any call type detection listed in the manual of the printer.

  The printer can work between a TAM (answering machine), but must be configured properly, the fax must meet rings 1-2 after the TAM, then the fax works only if a fax signal is detected.

  I suggest to set your answering machine to answer after 4 rings and the fax after 6 rings.

  2 bought 2 new ink cartridges

  3 examine the ink for the debris path - no

  4. clean the print heads according to the 3 times.  Cleaned two levels each time.

  5 examined the cartridges to ensure bands, or other stuff left.

  HP has included the print cartridges until the 4620 heads.  Now the 4620, they are part of the printer and not able to be changed.  New design printers allow the print heads be changed or moistened with warm water to release blockages.  The solution to THIS probem is to buy a new printer that allows editing of the print heads.

  The photosmart line has an additional photo for the best photo printing cartridge. The officejet line is designed for the small office where they would not necessarily print a lot of pictures. You should always get a good quality, printed photo of the Officejet printer.
