HPE-470f built in SD card reader reads the cards as write protected

WIN 7 Professional 64 bit, SP 1 and all the updates, latest Bios and drivers installed, HPE-470f

The SD card reader to work properly.  Put it in any piece now, the camera sees the chip, reports that it needs to be formatted (not true) and when he tries, then says it cannot complete.  Displays the disk disk management is write protected.  I suspect the internal switch inside the drive is blocked or broken.

have you tried: blowing the dust out of the drive, spray of contact cleaner in the device, try several chips (all of which work well in my cameras before and after trying in the HP drive.)

Any suggestions?

Apart from the drive of cleaning dust and spray contact cleaner in the drive, I have:

1 uninstalled all USB devices in Device Manager and forced the system to reinstall everything.

2 uninstall the drive itself in the Device Manager and forced the system to reinstall.

3 tried several cards in the reader with similar results: the system sees the card, says it has to be formatted (it was already formatted in the camera).  Formatting attempts get an error that it cannot be completed.

4. the program of HP, but it can not format the card to be downloaded.  Reports "unable to format the device.

I've always used player soft and methods of ejecting device to remove cards.  I think that it is a loss with a broken read/write switch.  It's too hard getting the subassembly of legacy of the case card reader.  It takes almost a complete disassembly of the machine to get out.

Thanks for trying to help.

    Hi Linda,.

What is the brand and model of the memory card?

It seems that the memory card is write protected. I suggest you refer to the suggestion given by John Rubdy in the following thread and check if this can help:

  • SD cards are write protected on Vista

I have several multiple brands SD cards that my Vista 64 system identifies as write protected.  I have two readers of different SD cards on the Vista system and they are both the same error.  The same SD cards can be written to by digital cameras and my windows XP computer.  I confirmed that the write protection tab is in the unlocked position.  Five separate SD cards are involved between 256 MB and 2 GB.  Several brands are also involved.

I tried the suggested process of 1. The card 2. Select eject 3. Remove and reinsert the card 4. Try to write on the card.  After four or five attempts, this did not help.
I also tried selecting the card in Explorer and selecting open as Portable device.  For reasons I don't understand, one of the SD cards started working after doing this twice.  However, it does not work for the other 4 SD cards.

If the computer and the camera say it is write protected, so it's write either protected or damaged.  Look for the sliding on the card locking lug and unlock it.  If there is no locking tab then the card may be damaged and in need of replacement.

  • HPE - 590t: 15-en-1 card reader no longer works

    Hi all

Today, I noticed that my SD card reader stopped working in my HPE - 590t.  I noticed that Windows 10 assigns generic drivers at the following as shown in Device Manager:

All other players are working perfectly, only the 15-in-1 card reader does not work, which leads me to believe that the generic drivers that has installed 10 Windows are not compadible with this device.

My HPE - 590 t initially provided with drivers for 15-in-1 card reader and worked well with Windows 7. Anyone know where I can download third-party drivers 3 for this device? I read that some users who have realtek devices are able to use the realtek drivers.

    My HPE - 590 t has a card mother IPMTB-TK Pegatron Truckee - UL8E.

Given that the specs on my system does not identify the manufacturer of the card reader - 15 in 1, I am at a loss to know where to go for the drivers for the 15-in-1 card reader.   If anyone has any suggestions, I would be very happy!

  • Built-in memory card reader does not

    Hi all
I use an Acer aspire one 533 with windows xp sp2. My has netbook with a built-in memory card reader that does not detect my memory cards (SD cards).
FYI, the laptop has recently been recreated!
Please help me! I am in critical need of it as most of the work on readers of SD.

It is very possible that you need a driver.  The first place to look is the Acer site.  I couldn't find your model (533) in the list but I found a 5330 model at the following link which includes drivers for the card reader:
    Start your search here:

If this does not help, do the Device Manager:
    Start-> Run-> "devmgmt.msc".
Find your card reader in the list, double-click it to obtain information on the manufacturer and model, and then search for a driver from the manufacturer's website.

    Hello

After many hours of searching through previous post, I am still unable to get my card reader built-in to read.  It worked fine for a while, and then all of a sudden it stopped.  I tried everything, different micro sd adapter mirco sd cards and also read the posts here.  So why I am now posting looking for any help there.

    Thank you.

  • Can read the SD card SDXC standard S7-392?

The Acer S7-392 record indicate only "SD", but not whether the SDHC or SDXC card types can be read. A quick search of the web shows several contradictory web pages! Some say: 'Yes,' some say 'no '.

So, if all goes well a real representative Acer or a real owner of S7 - 392 may answer: can the slot built-in SD read the new SDXC format (which, according to Wikipedia, will be formatted with the exFAT file system)?

    Thank you!

I have a dm4-1201us and the built-in memory card reader will not read my Sandisk 16 GB SDHC Extreme Pro memory card. I can read with an external drive, but prefer to use the internal drive. I think that HP needs to update the memory card driver reade.

I solved the problem by inserting the memory card into the internal drive. Then I opened the Device Manager and found the drive, which was a mistake on the Bill. I deleted this device and check the 'delete the driver '. I did a restart and now it reads SDHC cards.
