HTML Help Viewer is not installed.

The HTML Help Viewer works fine under XP, but when I port software on Vista, I get the message "MS HTML HELP is not installed on this computer". It is a DELL laptop provided.

Other research indicates that the problem with Vista is the result of the use of a shell inherited from the old WinHelp to display HTML Help.

It seems that you can use shell inherited, you will need to make the direct call to HTMLHelp.

For programmers in Delphi, although somewhat outdated (but still useful) is "Delphi programming for the HTML Help API," Robert Chandler, which is available on the internet.

The obsolete part refers to hang the old shell inherited, which is unnecessary now. You must call the HTMLHelp function now directly (using the Windows unit) every time you need display help.

  • Support for HTML Help Viewer toolbar

When I open any chm file in the MS HTML Help Viewer, I have a toolbar at the top of the page. One of the options in the toolbar's 'Options' that has a drop-down list. Most of the items in the drop-down list does not seem to be supported, such as 'Home', 'Stop', 'Update', etc., I don't know yet what it means in the context of the online help. Is this just an artifact of the HTML Help Viewer, or is there something I need to do in the definition of the project or in the generation of the chm file?

Well well, thanks to some research on Google, I now have the answer. The following works: "ms-its:path\MyFile.chm::/path/MyTopic.htm." Here, magic is the prefix "ms - its '. I didn't spend enough time in the research to find out exactly what it is, but apparently it has something to do with security.

  • Windows Update for powerpoint viewer wil not install - error code 0 x 4397

I tried several times to install this update without success.  Also tried the Microsoft Fixit for Windows Update, but it has not fixed the problem.

    The update is

Security for PowerPoint Viewer 2003 (KB969615) update
    Any suggestions?

It will probably not install because most likely the update is looking for the original source.

As this is a security for the 2003 Viewer update, why not get rid of it all together and download the new version-

  • v21 folio/Viewer, do not install it on Android

We have a portfolio that we built and tested for the iOS and Android with the standard Adobe Content Viewer. It was published and a custom viewer created (same v21) for the markets of the Android and iOS. Apple store version is still being investigated, although the downloaded .ipa works very well. The viewer Android application is available on google game but users encounter an error when you try to install receiving the message "this item is not compatible with your device..."

It's product on Android phones all without worrying about the old/new OS. However, there are no errors during the installation of the application on Android tablets.

DPS does not support Android phones.

  • Adobe Help Viewer not installed?

I recently upgraded from InDesign CS5 to InDesign CS6 on a desktop PC running Windows 7. I bought it via a download from Adobe.

When I try to use InDesign help under the Help menu, nothing happens for about 10 seconds, and finally, I get this error message:

Adobe Help Viewer is not installed and you are not connected to the internet. Please check your internet connection, or reinstall InDesign

In fact, I am well connected to the internet. I've uninstalled and reinstalled InDesign several times, without success. Why Adobe Help Viewer would not have installed? What can I do to fix this? Thank you.

  • Can I turn off the navigation pane in the HTML help permanently?

My company has a web application on the MicroStrategy platform.

I created a WebHelp customized to replace the out of the box using MicroStrategy and which works very well.

We develop the MicroStrategy Office add-in for Excel for our customers.

Once installed, a CHM file is copied to the client's hard drive.

We want to replace this with our own custom help.

I created a CHM file with a subject that redirects clients to our WebHelp customzied with content for the add-in.

One of the subjects has a redirect in the header HTML following code:

    < meta http-equiv = "refresh" content = "0; URL =https://customhelp.htm#AddIn_Introduction.htm"/ > "

That works very well in my tests.

    Here's my problem...

The HTML Help Viewer opens and hides the Navigation pane and displays the WebHelp (navigation pane, the menu bar and topic pane) automatically.

But, the HTML Help Viewer still has the hide/show/hide button for HTML Help navigation pane.

Is it possible to disable this hide or let it stand, but turn off the navigation pane?

As always, any help would be appreciated.

    Thank you-

    Michael F Weart

You should be able to disable in the settings of the window. Make sure that you uncheck the boxes search and Glossary before you uncheck the Index checkbox & OCD. (My quick test seemed to honor these settings, even when they are grey)

I have been using a trading on XP very good software, but since installing this software on my Windows Vista Home Premium (Svc Pk 2), I get the dreaded "MS Html Help is not installed on this PC" whenever I am trying to view the 'Help' file from the software owner menu.

  • Adobe Design Standard CS3 will not install because of the "shared components Installation failure".   Help?

I keep trying to install CS3 Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign pack.  But it is not because of the "shared components" do not install.

I tried to use the cleaning tool.

I tried to turn off my security system.

    It still does not work.

I looked in the Windows Event Viewer and the MSI installer says that the Flash Player 9 could not register.   This is why I can't install CS3?   If so, what can I do to fix this?  Help, please!

    Hi neptunecadet,

Please make sure that you install correct and you must also make sure that you have an operating system that is compatible with CS3.

  • Combining AIRHelp to help Help Viewer Wizard of RoboHelp 8 does not work.

    I have problems successfully combining

multiples. Documents in a single file (like RRS AIRHelp

    discussed at the RJ Webinar).

I hope someone can help me.

This is the process in which I use:

1.) released the document as each individual. RHA files.

2.) create the "combining" document as a file using AIRHelp Help Viewer Wizard of RoboHelp HTML 8.

(3.) in the same directory the AIRHelp "combining" file, I have create a file called "help.helpcfg" with Notepad

4.) in "help.helpcfg", I have the following XML:

    <? XML version = "1.0" encoding = "utf-8"? >

    < content >

    < data id = "Child1" label = "Help 1 Document" onlineurl = "" offlineurl ="file:///C:/Documents and Settings/student/Desktop/Document 1/Output/RHA/UltimusClient.rha" useoffline = "true" / > "
    < data id = "Help2" label = "Help 2 Document" onlineurl = "" offlineurl ="file:///C:/Documents and Settings/student/Desktop/Document 2/Output/RHA/UltimusClient.rha" useoffline = "true" / > "

    < / Summary >

5.) I install the 'mix' AIRHelp document.

(6.) in the directory in which the 'mix' document AIRHelp was installed, I put the file 'help.helpcfg '. Note that all documents are on an accessible network location, accessibility between the document "combined" and the individual. RHA files is not a problem.

Whenever I run the 'mix' AIRHelp document, I get the typical message that it cannot find the main application.

Could someone help me with what I'm doing wrong?

I thank very you much in advance!

    Sincerely,.

    Sammy Spencer

    Hi Sammy,.

Great to hear that help AIR Viewer works for you now. It is important, associated files of helpcfg it to load different help RHA (directories as well) in the same Viewer. Now to distinguish different data from help files, the helpcfg file must provide different ID him. As I see your helpcfg file, there are 2 entries for files RHA, but two of them have same ID, we provide different IDS for different systems to help only then help AIR Viewer will show entries various.
