  The AS2 code, that you have demonstrated requires no instance name because it is applied directly on the button.  As long as you have a variable named "clickTag" sitting in the main timeline, this code should work.  But for the record, placing the code on the objects is generally frowned upon and stopped in AS3.

  You can go the road of name of instance in AS2, but the code is quite similar and receives that verbose as AS3... for instance, using this button you named, the scenario in AS2 code would be...

  Clicky.onRlelease = function() {}

  getURL (_root.clicktag, _root.target);

  }

  AS3 does not allow to place the code on the objects, hence the need for the instance name.  The code of the button you have shown at the end of the AS3 of things seems to be well.

  In AS3, if you want to refer to something in the timeline root, you should add some additional info that they do not mention in the help documentation. MovieClip (root) .clickTag

  Have you tried to start Firefox in Mode safe? Key 'shift' startup of Firefox. It could be related to an extension. Then you should read the extensions, themes and problems of hardware acceleration to resolve common troubleshooting Firefox problems.

  Try to stir the contents of your file by exporting as INX and opening that. Sometimes it shake things loose and you are ready to leave.
