I have this model U840W with a hybrid HARD drive (500 GB + 32 GB SSD cache), I would like to replace it with an mSATA SSD. My warranty is left about 2 months... I understand that if I open the bottom cover, the guarantee may be cancelled.

What I don't understand is the "live in the mid under foot rubber", what is the best way to remove it? This seems to be the real challenge. A directive (preferably with photos)?

    Thanks in adv!

    Hello

I wouldn't recommend allows you to replace the hybrid HARD drive on your own even if hand warranty isn't valid anymore.
    Why?
Because the after replacing a drive HARD or SSD, RAID and TSRI (quick start of Intel technology) mode will not be available.

To rebuild the factory RAID mode and allow the TSRI, special tools are needed and this can be done by the authorized Toshiba maintainer.

So even if you would be able to remove the bottom cover and hybrids of HARD drive, the new inserted SSD would not be able to achieve the best performance.

  • Pure install Win 7 - hybrid hard drive

I have a HP ENVY Ultrabook 6-1030sm laptop. It uses a hard drive (hybrid) combined with ssd. I want to install a clean version of Windows 7. After you run the installer, I get an error message indicating "no hard disk found. "Click on load a driver to provide a driver for installing mass storage. I tried to copy the drivers (both exe and extracted) on USB, but after scanning the content, he always says there is no hard drive found on the selected source.

Google produces an idea that I should use diskpart, select one of the disks and clean it. DiskPart tells me that there is only a single disk with 7 GB in size. I guess it's the SSD HARD drive part.

Please give me help on what I have to do to install a clean version of Windows 7 and always use SSDS. Thank you!

    Hello:

    Try this...

Download the drivers from this link below (first or second file listed - 32 or 64 bit depending on the case).

    https://Downloadcenter.Intel.com/Detail_Desc.aspx?AGR=Y&ProdId=2101&DwnldID=23060&keyword=Intel+RAPI...

Extract the files on a usb flash drive.

With the flash player and the installation of W7 media connected to the computer, boot from the installation of W7 media.

After selecting the install now option, select the training - Advanced menu, Options and select the option load a driver.

You should now see the storage driver files listed.

If you check the box, it only includes the compatible driver.

Follow the prompts and hopefully W7 should install.

I had also read that info since you have a hybrid drive.

  • How to install on a second hard drive Studio 2.1 VMware PVSCSI (model Ubuntu)?

    Hello

I have a model that built a virtual machine based on Ubuntu 8.04.1 which makes already successfully using vmxnet3 driver.

I also like to use PVSCSI as a non bootable SCSI for a hard drive controller second defined in this virtual machine.

Since this is something that can be manually configured in vSphere 4.0 on an existing VM Linux Client, I wonder if this can be done by manually editing the .xml (like the vmxnet3 method) model described in tips & tricks VMware Studio.

According to the results presented by the VMware Performance team with PVSCSI controller, it would be great to set it automatically in VMware Studio model.

Thanks in advance for your help.

    Concerning

To use PVSCSI, please note the following:

Studio 2.1 would not be able to build devices with PVSCSI. Nevertheless, here are some settings, you could consider to apply the PVSCSI in the output devices built by Studio:

For example, I used Studio to build a RHEL 5.4 VMS and the exit is located in opt/vmware/www/build/r54.1/exports/ovf.

1 edit r54_OVF10.ovf, find the desired item from SCSI controller and replace his rasd:ResourceSubType of free to VirtualSCSI (case sensitive).

    2. as a r54_OVF10.mf to accompany him, the sha1sum of r54_OVF10.ovf in the .mf file must be updated.

    3. If you had the signed OVF (i.e. as there is a r54_OVF10.cert in my case), the FVO will also have to be re-signed (whether by/opt/vmware/bin/signovf or your own signature utility).

And that's all. This rule changed OVF when it is deployed to ESX 4.0 U1 or great would show her as a Paravirtual VMware SCSI controller. This is obviously not a solution supported; Please use and test accordingly.

  • Hard drive Studio 1745

The MS dropped her laptop (old) today and (at least) broke the screen. Not sure of any other damage? I remove the hard drive. My plan is to connect the hard drive to another PC. And if it still works, use the TSR software from backup on the disk to perform a final system back up. Then put the backup on a new PC, when she buys one.   My problem is: I don't know how to connect the hard drive from the laptop to another machine, access it installs to hard drive and restore it. Any help would be appreciated. I don't know that I don't have the wiring necessary to connect.

You are right, but the drive is not bootable, you can transfer all the files and folders you want to save.

  • 24GB flash acceleration Cache HDD & 1 TB 5400 RPM hard drive hybrid

I am considering buying the ENVY 17 t-j100 TouchSmart Quad Edition.  Two custimization options are:

24GB flash acceleration Cache hard drive

1 TB 5400 RPM hard drive hybrid

As I understand it, these two use SSD to accelerate the performance of the hard disk.  I have a few questions:

Is there a difference between the two?

How many GB of SSD are on the drive hybrid?

You can get both, or would they overlap?

    Thank you.

Yes, there is a difference. The hybrid hard drive is home to the NAND Flash inside the car. Acceleration is made by the player himself. Hybrid hard drives are faster than a disk mechanical spinner, but the MSSD cache acceleration is faster. Faster is a full SSD. Cache Accelerator speed up startup and loading frequently used programs but doesn't do much for read/write sustained speeds. However, it makes the whole computing experience better. start time of 15 seconds and resume almost instantly from sleep, for example. The hybrid propulsion system is just a regular hard disk gradually faster. I would get the WSSD of 24 concert and you need not the hybrid car with her and I think that they only Pack the WSSD of 24 concert with a player standard spinner.

  • What is a hard drive hybrid

novice in computers here... Please tell me what is a hybrid hard drive? I was Mobile shopping and it was an option, and then I was unable to select an SSD as an option.

    (1) what is a hard drive hybrid?

    (2) which is better/more fast?... (1) a disk hard of 750 GB hybrid with a solid 32 GB set out by car or 2) a 750 GB HDD hybrid with HP protectSmart hard drive and does not allow the addition of an SSD.

    Hello

    1. Hybrid HDD is a new generation of HARD drives, you can find more information at the following link:

    http://en.Wikipedia.org/wiki/Hybrid_drive

    2. for single, hybrid HARD drive HARD drive is faster but with in a machine, the SSD + HDD is faster and more expensive too.

    Kind regards.

    Edit:

Well, thank you Paul - you are faster than me.

  • Compaq 6000 Pro: 6000 pro complete hard drive

My HARD drive is nearly full, so I'll change it with an SSD on 0ne terabite, how do I transfer my operating system and the programs over to the new drive? Thank you for your help.

I had a lot of success with Samsung EVO 850 and 840 SSD, SSD Crucial. The sandisk conversion kit will make this simple.

Hybrid hard drives are certainly not identical to an SSD. They don't have the super speed or the overall coherence of BIOS.

I got a note that explains this in detail, but HP decided, just over a week, there is or not, to remove our ability to do information and turorial stickies. This is why you don't see many, if any stickies.

The following illustration shows what works and what's not for your PC.

  • sleekbook 14-f021nr Hard Drive Upgrade

I am trying to upgrade my HP Pavilion Sleekbook 14-f021nr.  So far, I love the touchscreen but performace wise this thing is not desirable.   I've already doubled the RAM from 4 GB to 8 GB Win 8.1 can get alittle hungry.  When the monitoring task manager, I also noticed that often the hard drive runs at 100%, so I reduced the number of processes that automatically at Windows startup.  That didn't seem to help so my next point of attachment is upgraded to HD.  I currently have the standard HD 750 GB (ST750LM022 HN - M7) that came from the factory.  I looked in the service manual and it doesn't talk much about what is compatible other than SATA drives spinning @ 5400 standards.  While I can't quite afford to buy an SSD of 750Go to go to there are some affordable hybrid out there that combine both Solid State and traditional hard drives.  However, I did find a lot of documentation on compatibility issues for my laptop model.  Are there special considerations that I think about upgrading the hard drive.  I'm assuming SATAIII is a given but all the serice manual aludes to East of 5400 for spin speed and even talking SSD drives.  I was watching a couple of hybrid drives Seagate 1 TB and disks 1 TB Western Digital Black hybrid.   Advice or specifications would be greatly appreciated.

You're definitely on the right track. An SSD is the new upgrade of the processor. Here is the Manual:

    Manual

See Page 38. Unfortunately, yours is one of the models where it is very difficult to get to the memory and the hard drive and you put the guarantee in jepoardy trying to upgrade the components. Given that you already upgraded the RAM I guess you know what you have found yourself, however.

You won't be compatibility issues with any of the readers that you have mentioned. I will say that the true SSD is in a League by itself, but hybrid hard drives that you mention are also much faster than a stock 5400 drive RPM.

Since you do not have an optical drive built in, migration of the software is also a problem. Your best bet is to clone the existing installation to the new drive using an external usb adapter to SATA.

and what kind of SSD is good for my laptop?

Also, I want to replace the HARD drive to install a caddy to the strange place, but I don't know what ODD is my own laptop.

When I watched caddy in eBay and I saw two types of caddy each 9.5, 12.7

But I don't know what type is best for my laptop.

I have a laptop Dell XPS M1530 age of 5 year.

Can I put a 7mm HARD drive in this Bay?

    Kindly help!

Hey Osprey4, thanks for your help.

I realized that I wasn't dragging hybrid HARD drive in the correct position, I had to keep a little high, and he fell just in place in the Bay with a single click...

The HDD (HDD, or hybrid) works very well, and I definitely see improvements in the performance and startup time!

I want to add a second hard drive for my Pavilion Elite HPE 410f. Recommendations?  Somewhere in the 320 to 500 GB range and I want a quick unit because it will be used for rendering videos.    Thank you for your response.

    Hello

How fast is fast is the real question.

Have you looked at hybrid drives OCZ? Expensive but probably the fastest option.

Seagate also made a hybrid hard drive.  Good price... You will need a 3.5 "to 2.5" support if the player does not support.  If you install the drive in an empty optical Bay then you will need a 5.25 "to 2.5" support.

Your other choice is 7 200 or 10 000 rpm traditional hard drives.

Another option would be to add a PCI sata and two external hard dirves configured in RAID 0.
