Hyper-v virtualization hardware

I think to buy a server uses to virtualize 6 to 8 windows 7, windows 8 or perhaps 10 VM windows.  I am very confused about what I would use the material!

I'm thinking one of the theses of Dell servers.  They would allow me to virtualize windows 6 to 8 workstations?  I want to do internet surfing, music and streaming video, run MS Office and programs in these areas.

You could, Yes.  As long as you have all aligned software.

    Salvation of the paths,

Looks like you are trying to get XP Mode configured, that will install a virtual machine for you to run your legacy programs.  This feature is available in the professional versions, full and Enterprise edition - so your property in this aspect.

You get this error message because you do not have the chip installed for hardware - assisted virtualization technology and it's good. you don't need more.  Click on this link http://www.microsoft.com/windows/virtual-pc/download.aspx and select your language and edition.  Then scroll down to step 3.  You must download and run the third component called Windows XP Mode Update. This update will remove the requirement that you have the chip mentioned above.

    That should do the trick.

  • How do you turn with the virtualization of hardware assisted for a T510 Intel I5

I'll put up a T510 with Windows 2008R2 as a mobile demonstration platform and I want to run Hyper-V on it. Hyper V requires hardware virtualization and reading through the form of i5 that looks like it is taken in charge. Is - this automatically active (I see that Hyper threading is turned on by looking at the Task Manager) if not how can I activate this.

    Thank you

Search BIOS Intel VT and Intel VT - d. You must enable at least VT VT - d is not required (it has to help IO virtualization).

  • VMWare workstation + Hyper-V (Windows 8)?

I know that in the past I tried to combine hyper-v on a machine and vmware workstation that has not worked. I don't understand why because both probably need exclusive access for virtualization by the processor hardware. This use case will still work? I didn't know if this is a hardware or software limitation. Perhaps more recent processors allow multiple layers of virtualization access pieces of virtualization? The reason I ask is I would like to install hyper-v on my machines of windows 8, but hyper-v has limits that vmware fillings of workstation (namely that support usb) so I wonder if it will ever be possible (or maybe that's now because I tried really long ago) or do you think it will always be a limitation?

BTW: The current processor, I'm declining to do so is a bridge of Ivy (i7-3770).

    Thank you...

On a deck of Ivy, you can run Workstation as a comments under Hyper-V hypervisor, but you will be limited to 32-bit guest nested under my computer, because Hyper-V virtualizes not features of virtualization assisted by the physical processor hardware.  See nested running VMs.

  • Satellite L875D: There is possibility to enable virtualization in the BIOS?

    Hello

I want to buy Toshiba L875D-S73.

I know supports CPU AMD - V required for the performance of like Microsoft Hyper-V virtualization.
But I don't hear anything about BIOS.

Is - this ability to enable virtualization in the BIOS?
    Maybe you know?

Unfortunately I do not have this model laptop but I guess there is no option for virtualization in the BIOS. If the processor supports the it, it must be enabled by default.

I m not sure but I think that laptops equipped with platform AMD do not support virtualization technology, so in my opinion, you should buy model with no D in the name. All models with D have the AMD platform.

Contact your local dealer and ick information on other models of laptops.

  • Intel Virtualization Technology - Thinkcentre A58 - Pentium Dual-Core E5300

    Hello

I am considering buying a ThinkCentre A58 with a clocked Intel E5300 processor
    Model/type: 7515-7SG

I would like to run "Windows XP Mode" on Windows 7 Pro.

For the XP Mode, I need ability IVT.

    My Question is:

The Lenovo 7515-7SG come with an E5300 CPU which is capable Intel virtualization technology?

IVT depends on the TECHNICAL Code of the E5300 CPU.

Intel offers CPU E5300, who do not have the ability of IVT.

    E5300 know:
    http://Ark.Intel.com/product.aspx?ID=35300#specs

    E5300 Code TECHNIQUE

    * SLB9U: IVT No.
    * SLGTL: IVT Yes

    Check the E5300 features supported:

    http://processorfinder.Intel.com/list.aspx?ParentRadio=all&ProcFam=2841&SearchKey=

Even if Lenovo ships an E5300 with SPEC Code SLGTL - needs a BIOS that does not block IVT.

... made the A58 BIOS IVT available?

I already searched the Lenovo Thinkcentre A58 product support site - has not found something valuable.

  • Amount of memory overhead increases with hw assisted virtualization cpu?

    Hello

browsing through some content, this paragraph has triggered my attention:

What helps support CPU virtualization increases the amount of memory.

Why is this? I can understand that if the MMU does not support the RVI/EPT, the management of the TLB and fictitious tables won't in a memory overload, but I don't see how hw assisted virtualization CPU has to do with it. (I guess that ESXi needs these same tables if using BT).

I must be missing something here, someone willing to help me? Thank you!

I don't know where this text comes from, but it's a mess.  The mention of version 9 of material almost certainly guarantee that it is in reference to virtualized virtualization assisted by material, which was officially introduced in version 9 hardware.  If so, the second sentence is a complete non-sequitur. The third sentence is again, very certainly with respect to virtualization to support virtualized.

Using (as opposed to virtualization) hardware-assisted virtualization is independent of the version of the virtual hardware, does not increase the amount of memory required General and does not restrict vMotion to hosts that support hardware-assisted virtualization.

Hardware support for virtualization virtualization does all of the things mentioned, * except * for a more effective implementation of the hypervisor.

    Please follow these steps.

Please try a hard reset first. Steps to follow:

    • Turn off the computer and unplug the charger. Then remove the battery only if it is removable.
    • Press and hold the power button on the unit for 15 seconds to carry out the static electrical charges inside the machine.
