  I am new to the world of Hyperion and assigned to a project in which we migrate from * 9.2 versions of Planning, Essbase and HFM to * 11.1.2 *.
  
  Any help / suggestions would be much appreciated.
  
  Could someone please explain step by step process, we should take to migrate from * 9.2 to * 11.1.2? *

  You will need to perform a new installation of 11.1.2 as there is no upgrade option.

  Create an empty application and a copy of the database.

  Check - upgrade 9.2.0.3 to 11.1.2 with or without SP1 update scripts

• Hyperion Planning / essbase change codes member = lost data?

  I was talking with a coleague and I mentioned that when I change the codes in Hyperion Planning, codes are modified in Essbase and data are not lost. She mentioned that she did not know essbase couldn't recognize that code and data would be lost.

  Is it controlled on the side of planning, searching for existing id and change only the code of Member in essbase and works well thanks to the planning of the interface, so that if you change it directly on the essbase outline, data will be lost?

  If you rename a member in the planning and then run an update, the Member must be renamed to Essbase, so the data are kept, try and see.

  You should never be rename planning members directly against Essbase outline, how it should work plans > essbase not the other way around.

  Currently we have Hyperion Planning 11.1.2.1 patch 600 running on Win2008R2 with absolutely no problem. However under the I.T. company policy, it is necessary to patch the Hyperion Planning servers (Web/planning/Essbase) with a number of patches from Microsoft (much too much for me to mention here).

  Can the gurus of the infrastructure please let me know what problems we can expect when you perform windows updates (we Win2008 R2 sp1).

  In my opinion would be areas of concern: -.

  Update to a version not supported in Internet explorer.

  Start-up automatic Microsoft updates (they are off).

  In the registry changes that could affect planning.

  (We locking) Windows Firewall settings.

  All of the links/advice would be greatly appreciated as I'm no whizz infrastructure!

  If security is assigned to the planning for any dimension/individual Member, then it flows to Essbase? This means that, if a user has special Planner access to hyperion memberin planning, it will be able to connect to Essbase and power access to the other dimenaions/members in essbase?

• Security planning update in batch?

  
  Hi all

  I am keen to refresh planning security in Essbase, but in the batch. I can use the CubeRefresh.cmd to do this, the problem with this command (as far as I can see) is that I can not specify to refresh the security only (as I can do through the front end of planning). I can't refresh the cube (metadata/hierarchy) because this can cause a dense restructuring and make the anavailable cube for awhile.

  Am I missing something with the Cuberefresh.cmd command? or y at - it another way to isolate the update, so that it refreshes just the security.

• Newbie question: how to set up a dynamic security with Essbase?

  Hi all
  
  of course, I'm new to technology Essbase and I have a simple question:
  
  -How can I configure a dynamic in Essbase OLAP server security so that the user can only see some members of the dimension (and according to the rows in the fact table)?
  
  By dynamic, I mean that I don't have to click on in via UI (for example http://businessintelligencedw.blogspot.com/2009/01/security-filter-essbase-tutorial.html), but to base the permissions on a database table where I can easily my users (by program) adjust the visible members for my users.
  Also, can I add users/roles programmatically?
  Surely, for mulitple user environments didn't click on them while...
  
  
  Can someone point me to relevenat documentation, I checked on this book (http://www.amazon.com/Oracle-Essbase-OLAP-Multidimensional-Solution/dp/0071621822), but there is not a single sentence on the security in this :(

  Well, there are other 'issues' with Essbase. As I imagine that there are with MSAS.

  I think of them as the oddities. But of course the quirks are the faults that love makes forgive you. I guess that means that I love you Esbsase. It's sad.

  I agree that an Excel/VBA solution is not... ideal. But in the context of the client, this is what they wanted.

  I pull a SQL - tables generated if I had to do it now, then run it through MaxL. I documented using MaxL/VBScript (go easy on me, Hey, it's a MS product) to generate the filters that look pretty. I will avoid linking to my blog twice in the same thread, but I have a post with the code example that shows how to do this. Research of planning + filters in the blog. It might give you some ideas.

  I'm new to Hyperion Workforce Planning, I read the document from the admin. I have some doubts
  (1) where to add details of employee base?
  (2) can add us custom data forms for attributes? If so, please share the steps.

  To create the Employee dimension and associate attributes such as Race, gender etc. to the employee.
  Step 1: first create the dimension of the attribute with the members in the planning application for Race, gender etc. and associate them with the Employee Dimension.
  step 2: create the .csv for employee of 1000 that load into the planning application.
  This file will have all the columns as
  Example:

  Parent, employee, Alias: by default, storage data, aggregation (Wrkforce) attribute.
  'Existing employee', XYZ, XYZ, store, + male.

  Use the preview utility load to load the employees under Parent "employees". In this way, you can load the metadata for
  your Employee dimension and also your attribute will be associated at the same time. Once your dimension or the metadata for the employee gets loaded.
  You can then load the data for employees.

  I'm looking to migrate security for Essbase version 7 application x to 11.1.2.1.
  Someone can tell me what would be the best way to export users, filters etc. of the version 7 x to 11.1.2.1
  
  We are not upgraded to 9.3.3 or such 11.1.1.3 as recommended by Oracle.We build just in the newer version. However, I still want to use the existing security in version 7 x.

  You must use the value of column_width ; before using the display filter syntax. It sets the width of the columns that appear in the tables display outputs, for this session MaxL Shell MaxL.

  Smart View 11.1.2 requires 11.1.2 Foundation and APS 11.1.2. With this configuration, planning/Essbase 11.1.1.3 will then operate as a data source for Smart View 11.1.2.

  You need to remove the access Essbase writable & rights special user for these users.

  The table will give you a good idea of the properties that you can use for essbase.

  Planning properties are roughly the same that you would enter through web planning, so if you get stuck just journal in planning and check the properties on a dimension member.

• Security vs planning Essbase filter

  For example, suppose I "Sample" user and I give write access to the child member of the entity dimension

  New York City

  So in this case, I give write access to @ides (chicago).

  And I update safety (filter) in the planning.

  When I connect EE and go to the database and filter, I don't see NO AND/OR LU. As I applied the write filter, suppose to show SCRIPTURE in environmental assessments as well. ?

  If it is not the case, how am I supposed to see what type of access available to the user or the filter (other than checking the SECFILE in Planning)?

  Any suggestions please.

  Access the report should really be used to view permissions.

  Provide the access permissions for at least one Member overall of all dimensions of security is enabled for this user and then refresh the filter and check.
